alright so pretty much, if the face wasn't scanned into the game, then chances are the player is gonna look a little goofy and off, which is kinda sad cause they didn't need face scan tech to get all the players looking acceptable and accurate back on 2k9-2k12.

man whose the artist thats been doing the non-scanned faces for ps4/xb1??

other than this, the rest of the game is off the hook.

I have to say thought that the scanned players and higher res textures make non scanned players stick out more as opposed to last gen when everyone were cyberfaces artists made (lots of which were not even close and hideous then).

With that said, they leave a lot to be desired in the face dept. when it comes to non scanned guys this gen, Most notably legends because a lot of the legends are ported over.

Amazon have stitched me up with the Early Tip off edition me thinks.

That looks horrible. At least they got the lettering on the back of the jersey correct for the Bulls pre-1992 jerseys (solid white, not black outlined in white)

Vince and McGrady are horrendous ... enough to play the exclusively from broadcast view with no replays for close-ups.

It's good to hold 2k to a high standard but some of you seriously need to tempter your expectations. Remind yourself that you are playing with players not even in the NBA anymore! 2k went through the trouble of trying to accurately recreate players from a decade ago! Sure, maybe it's a little off but just think of the game as a whole and how much dedication and passion went into it.

The modern gamer is so damn spoiled expecting 100% realism in every single aspect. PLEASE REMIND YOUR SELF THAT IT'S STILL A VIDEO GAME!!!

I agree with your general premise regarding doomed-to-fail-100%-realism expectations. I think the crux of this thread to begin with was at least getting back to the level classic teams were at four to five years ago. 2K knocked classic teams out of the park in 2K11 then they actually took multiple steps backward on next-gen. A lot of us just at least want to get back to 2K12 level so we no longer have to have discussions as to whether NBA 2K2 Bill Russell actually bears more of a resemblance to his real life likeness than 2K16's.

The brand seems to be making steps toward getting this stuff in line (many of the new classics look nice) but a lot of disappointment isn't just based upon hopes and dreams. Rather, we've seen all these details taken care of... by 2K no less... so sometimes it's even more frustrating when one knows how good things can be, because they were at that level at one point, only for them to come up short in the present.

Example of the roller coaster ride of progress:

I don't really know the technical possibilities behind this type of stuff. Perhaps it's a specific shade of hair that makes it happen, combined with a small bit of volume. Brian Grant is another example:

We hold them to a higher standard because 2K set the damn standard in the first place. Also, how hard is it to use Google to make sure they have shoes, jerseys, accessories, hair styles, etc. right? When I accessorize my Legends, I use Google to make sure I get them as accurate as possible with the tools 2K gives us. Why can't they do the same?

Oh, and it may be just a video game, but we spend our hard earned cash on it. It's not like these games cost $10 on release. We spend anywhere from $50-$60 on these games, and upwards to $80+ for special editions like the MJ version. You damn right we expect a lot.

The problem is, it doesn't translate online. And for some reason the fact 90% of others, including younger fans, are playing with ugly sibling versions of our favorite players who we want them to be aware of and recognize, bothers me.

Don't know if it's exclusive to Jordan but he has his palm the ball size up...it's pretty slick....his signature packages look to be on point all around

You mean this? Took a quick vid about an hour ago - shame it's not exclusive to MJ, but when he pulls this off, it looks incredible.
