The short answer is this. Freestyle single player practice uses the same core base shot percentages that normal games do, however, the impact of shot timing is tuned differently than real games and there are other factors that aren't considered. So you're going to see similar make/miss ratios between the two... All I'm saying is that shooting around in the gym by yourself is not the same as shooting open shots in games. So it's not a good way to measure how gameday open shots are going to fall.

People keep saying "but steph made 77 3's in real life in practice." Despite the Steph claiming this, I never believed it to be true and never will unless I see it myself. But that is really besides the point.

Second of all, you probably can't even hit 10 3's in a row with Steph in practice in this game. At least I sure can't on superstar sim.

I even posted a challenge to get 3 green releases in a row with Steph from 3 on superstar/sim and nobody was able to do it that I'm aware of.

So, relative to 3 point shooting, why would mid range be so OP in practice but not be tuned to be OP in game?

Something isn't adding up. Especially when I've been watching mid range jumpers fall in like crazy with very mediocre jump shooters in game.

Like I've said, I haven't played much since they tweaked it, so maybe it has changed.

One thing to keep in mind, is that practice mode should be practice mode for the video game IMO....practice mode is basically useless for jump shooting if they are going to tune it differently than the actual game

the only thing it would be good for is ball handling
I think your case study revealed that middys (did) fall at a much higher clip than 3s and that 3s in practice were more in tune to 3s in game.

You have me convinced but I was also already convinced by game play alone. Yes, middys were vastly more successful than 3s and lowering their default success chances should help level the playing field.

I still have yet to play online post tuning - literally been playing offline blacktop strictly with custom sliders.

As for green 3s, as far as I know (and I'm not 100% certain): the user is basically nullified from getting green (perfect) releases on All Star +. It seems the development team conceptually agreed to not allow perfect release 3s.

You can essentially hit the perfect mark (from 3) but will still often miss the perfect outcome: and this was in an effort to kill the 3pt cheese spamming off zig zag dribbles (from my perceptive).

This patch has been rough on me. I'm clanking open or barely contested mid-range shots all day long online with players with 80+ mid-range.

I'm not really complaining though. I've always been horrible at the shot meter...just gotta practice releases more.

Nothing is ment to be realistic about the Park. Once you cross that bridge, and let all realism exist in an offline MyLeague, the quicker you accept the Park arcadeness and accept it for what it is.

Bring good on the Park makes no claim to being good at 2k or basketball, conversely, being bad at park doesn't mean you are bad at 2k.

I can do the same with Curry but I haven't been able to do it with anyone else as far as get an excellent release from 3. There was a time I thought I got one with Korver but he was in the corner.

Can you get it with CP3?

I played a lot with Clippers, Grizzlies, Kings, Wizards, Bulls never had a green release from 3 but I did have a few in practice with Curry. Never had one with any other team/player

Mike should just get rid of the grading system all together. I've never seen so many people so hung up by this that it keeps them from enjoying the game.

Guess I'm just old school and always shot the ball at the peak of the jump. Old habits and all that....double dribble days lol
