Re: Shot % Tweaks needed?
It feels like it's 20% for me in game. It's very obvious that they are harshly graded because they average a C- with a player like Curry, with a B- at best for an open well timed release. This shows up even in practice, and it's a lowest percentage shot even in the gym.
Open shots in other situations feel right to me for the most part. Step shots are much worse and receive much worse grades as a rule. What's interesting is that dribbling or size ups before shots don't incur such a harsh penalty and even pump faking a step shot resets the penalty of you reload and shoot immediately.Comment

Re: Shot % Tweaks needed?
I think shooting is far to dependant of shot stick timing vs. being open and in the right spot with the right player.Gamertag and PSN Mrclutch1013

Re: Shot % Tweaks needed?
Something's not "perfect" when everyone was taking midrange over lay ups and threes (completely backwards from the NBA) and midrange had a ridiculous amount of greens. That was just as unbalanced.
And even now you have people complaining that they can't make wide open shots with Curry. I think they probably have bad mechanics or habits, but the overpowered green release midrange a from release don't seem like the way to go. It does seem like layups need to be reduced again if the adjustment was across the board, as layups, and ones, and contact layups go in way too often offline, and seemingly online as well.
I just played a full weekend of Pro-am and the game is now over saturated with undersized outside scoring guards who jack up threes and 7'3" centers to scoop up rebounds. That is not my idea of balanced. Actually, anybody who has a "balanced" scorer has been rendered ineffective from the last tweek. You can't depend on mid-range and the ratings for 3pt shooting are too low for a balanced player.Comment

...but now people are hitting contested threes like it's 2K15 and midrange is completely broken and inconsistent. Open mid range shots SHOULD be chosen over attacking the paint for contested layups/dunks. How is that unbalanced?

It sounds like Pro-Am is balanced differently from PNO? Does anyone else get that impression?Comment

Re: Shot % Tweaks needed?
Curious how everyone feels about shooting percentages. If you feel like anything needs to be tuned, please be as specific as possible (eg. open 3PT shots off the dribble with great shooters are X% too low/high) and also let me know what mode you're seeing it in (eg. 3-on-3 Park, ProAM, MyCAREER, Play Now offline, etc.)
For this thread, please limit requests to shooting. Thanks.
Eventually, it would be great to have separate sliders for standing shooting versus shooting on the move, for all relevant shooting categories.Comment

Re: Shot % Tweaks needed?
Before the recent tweak, I was deadly from midrange but inconsistent from 3pt. I was totally fine with this because that's the way I styled my player. Now that midrange was nerfed, it appears that only small, outside guards are reaping the benefits. Most of the former 2K15 cheesers resorted to those players so they can still dribble you to death and shoot 3s, so why are their needs being met once again?
It needs to be more balanced. If the 3pts arent going to be lowered, at least return the mid range to where it was on day 1.Comment

Re: Shot % Tweaks needed?
Basically at this point, OFFENSE needs to be reduced. I'm saying everything. Mids, 3s, layups with a slight boost to dunking. I'm still seeing my big friends get bodied by little guys and that's not right. Missing a standing dunk and having the ball bounce off the rim to the guy spamming triangle.Comment

Re: Shot % Tweaks needed?
Thanks, everyone, for the feedback. The debate over what tweaks should be made is a pretty clear indicator that it would be a mistake to make any significant changes... so any updates going forward will be extremely subtle.
That being said, an update went out Saturday morning. Here's what I changed:- Biggest change... heavily contested contact layups should be dropping less frequently
- Wide open 3's (nobody within 12 feet) with excellent shooters were given a tiny boost
- Wide open middies (with 75+ rated shooters) were bumped up by about 3%
- The frequency of dunking in traffic was decreased a little bit, dunk attempts will be converted to layups

This makes sense as to why shooting felt better, but there still needs to be a tweak to contested shots. They're dropping a lot more.
I love the wide open with great shooters thing, but when I close out from 2 feet away and he drops a deep 3 in my face is just crushing, and it's very consistent.Comment
