So now what's the excuse for the sound in the first post?

I'm not gonna act like I believe a marketing team (not just 2k's, anyone), but last year they lied with body scans and this year it looks they're on the same path. I can deal with overhyping a game. As annoying as it is, it's their job. But I can't deal with lies

By plain I mean the reverb sounds bad for some reason.. when compared to NBA Live or live television for example it sounds more muffled, let alone in an arena.

They may have gotten rim and net sounds, but im not sure about the arena specific chants and no idea about the crowd

Seems like this would just a be a combination of not mixing something in 5.1/7.1 to go along with the rest of your mix (not all tools are created equal in this area), and then also not capturing the raw audio in 5.1/7.1, which I would imagine does take some serious legwork if you want to have mics all over the stadium.

Ea showed exactly what they did in a blog for live 15 i believe it was. Thats pretty much what they did.

Its more than just turning the volume up to 20 and saying it sounds good to me.

And that's OK... I'm still thinking about buying the game this year on release day. And in all honesty, sound is the least of my concerns, since I play while listening to some podcasts half of the time.

As I said, I don't want to deal with lies. And if this turns out to be another lie, I may pass this year. I don't buy games blindly anymore.

And I want to believe that this whole thing is in a day 1 patch, and that they're correcting some body types, and court colors and jerseys, and the whole thing, but I'm kind of tired of giving the companies a pass. It's kind of sad that 2K, Madden, FIFA or even NHL or The Show don't have real competition.

I still remember the days when 2K4 was unknown here in Spain and I rented it and blew me away. 12 years later, they are choosing the same path Live went a long time ago. Gimmicks. They're even using some Live failed ideas to some extent. And as a long time fan of the series, I don't want them to go that route. It may look crazy, but I don't want them to become mainstream. That's when gameplay suffers. Anyway, I'm rambling...

Have you tried playoff mode crowd? All new level...

I know people want realism with certain stadiums being quiet and what not. Personally I would rather have the crowd excitement from Live since it's far more immersion to play.

If I have to choose I'm taking the over the top crowd in Live. With that said, I dont want to have to choose. I'm OK with every playoff arena being nonstop loud. But a game in February in Atlanta shouldnt be as loud as a game in OKC.

They never actually stated what they were body scanning or even how it was implemented last year. All we got was vague tweets showing the process, but it seems as though it was used to add authetic tattoos to players not for unique body models.

So, technically they never "lied" to use. People, especially here at OS, just ran with their expectations. Nothing was ever clarified.
