Did you misunderstand what I wrote? I'm basically saying get the player models proportion proper the first time, then you don't have to constantly readjust every single year because it's frustrating having to constantly rework a specific art piece when that specific art piece is done right. They already body scanned Curry last year and they decided to replace his body with a non-scanned body model. What's more real than a scanned body model?

The other guy that I responded to was saying "If they fixed it now they won't have anything 'new' and 'improved' for next year." I'm saying you don't need to keep playing the cat and mouse game to sell the game. There are other areas of art that can be improved and marketed. Hair physics for one.

The elbow skin changes. I'm not joking.

Did they actually do any work on the bodies themselves? There only seem to be like three bodies and the skinny body was recycled from last year. The other few look about the same as before. Is the one with the sloped shoulders new? It just looks like the Melo body from 2k16.

If they just kept last year's work on the bodies with no changes the game would look 5 times better especially with the new lighting.

I have compared bodies and faces from both 2k16 and 2k17 and I can say that gripes about body types are well founded. I would like to add one more issue I have that is totally taking me out of the game is the eyes of all the players. every single player has eyes wide open like its madden 2001 on ps2. Its really odd and huge oversight on player faces. Gameplay wise Im loving it but I can't help but say the game is an eyesore compared to last year.

Co-sign. The eyes are odd but those skinny body models really disturb me the most.

Ingram is really the only player I can tolerate it on. Hopefully 2k can just swap out new models. The gameplay is better by a mile imo, especially from an a.i. standpoint. The game is not ugly by any means but it gives me an odd vibe. It also seems like there is some weird filter being applied as well and I don't know if that has anything to do with HDR being applied this year(I don't have HDR capabilities).

I think 2k9 used the same face animation technology as LA Noire back in the day I remember that blowing me away. That could be nostalgia talking though..I'm old

EA and 2k have the unfortunate task of trying to balance on a tightrope of fun and sim while trying not to fall 10,000 feet to their death. Instead of a safety net waiting down below there will just be angry customers quick to move out of the way and talk of their failure.

Can you not edit player models this year? In 2k16 you could change shoulder width, arm length, and move waists up or down. I used this a ton and found I could kind of help improve certain model types like chris paul being too buff(by decreasing should width), and durant not having long enough arms. If its not included in 2k17 I think I'll skip this year. 2k really needs to just add a ton of editing options in CAP and for current players.

You can still edit wingspan, shoulder width, and body length. Same as last year

2k14 with 17 gameplay would be fantastic

Re: The Art Team Really Tanked This Year.

2K17 is definitely a regression graphically. I feel like the lighting is awful reminds me of 2K10. It lacks that color and pop the game used to have. The lay-out and player names at the bottom look bad. Depending on the arena the camera may be more zoomed in or zoomed out playing on broadcast. Try playing in the Smoothie King Center and see how zoomed in it is. The jerseys look worse they look painted on and the v-neck cut isn't accurate.

Mindaugas Kuzminskas and Willy Hernangomez are a joke in 2K, Porzingis hair isn't that big.

These skinny players look awful. Giannis is lanky but a specimen with cut wiry, veiny arms and shoulders and a 12 pack. Not exactly rail thin. Monta Ellis, KD, Ingram, Jennings, Hayward, Jackson, Rubio, Wiggins, etc. all have crack head physiques. Jimmy Butler is also way more cut his body was perfect in 2K16. The game just looks odd and a bit unnatural.

They didn't even try with the legends. Some guys look amazing like Paul George and Damian Lillard. Sabonis and Poetl aren't even scanned and they are lottery picks how lazy is that?

I'm puzzled at the critical acclaim this game got. I see a lot of flaws in the art and gameplay first time I felt this way and I've been a 2K fan since 2K11. My favorite 2K's are 11, 14, and 16. Around this time last year only problem I was having was alley-oop cheese which they fixed. I'm just going to wait for a patch.

Right now I'm disappointed in 2K17, this game frustrates the hell out of my friends though lol.

For 99% of skinny players bulky type would look less "off" than this anorexic bodies they are given.
