    re: **2K17 - How's your MyLeague/MyGM going?**

Can someone confirm this for me? I've researched online for a few days, but I can't find a confirmation.

Im playing with Sacremento. Chicago owns our 17' first rounder, top 10 protected. We sit at 2-10, heading for the worst record in the league. From what ive gathered, if that pick winds up being in the top 10, the Kings get that pick back and we swap Chicago our 17' 2nd rounder. Is this correct, or does the way protection works, if that pick falls in the top 10 Chicago keeps that pick?

2017 first round draft pick from Sacramento
Sacramento's 1st round pick to Chicago (via Cleveland) protected for selections 1-10 in 2017; if this pick falls within its protected range and is therefore not conveyed, then Sacramento will instead convey its 2017 2nd round pick to Chicago protected for selections 56-60 (if this pick falls within its protected range and is therefore not conveyed, then Sacramento's obligation to Chicago will be extinguished) [Cleveland-Sacramento, 6/30/2011; Chicago-Cleveland, 1/7/2014]
From RealGM, they do a great job of tracking picks and protections; been using them for the last few years to keep track of everything.
      Any comments are welcome.

I already sort of did this. I put the legends from the teams I didn't want to use in full on current NBA teams. Just traded them for the scrub players. Guess I could just do this for the rest of the legends I want to use and save the roster that way. Shame they changed the way to set up a league so much this year.

Thanks! I think i'm thinking right then. I'd looked into a bunch of reference sites, but none of them explained protection worth a crap.

I would recommend going with the Jazz. A decent team with some good players in Hayward and Favors. Some decent youth in Exum and Lyles too.
In fact the Jazz's starting 5 can compete with anyone but they just maybe lack that superstar that the top teams have.

              re: **2K17 - How's your MyLeague/MyGM going?**

Just wanted to get some thoughts on this as I seem to find myself in a bit of a quandry every year.

So I play 29 game seasons, 6 min quarters and I play all games with my user controlled team (Nets) myself.

When it comes to player progression I can't say I love the current system. I get it, everyone has a potential rating and it takes years to get there which is sometimes realistic. But then you have guys like CJ McCollum in real life who averaged 6 PPG in his first two years then just blew up in year 3 seemingly out of nowhere.

So sometimes stuff like that happens in MyLeague where an underrated player does really well for a season, not just a couple big games but sustained success (a lot of times it's user controlled players, but sometimes CPU as well). But here's where the problem is. In my experience player performance does not affect a player's progression or overall. I've seen lower overall guys have a great season then not progress but a point or two in overall and then the team replace them in the offseason with a guy who's barely better. So it would be like the Blazers having McCollum play really well then in the offseason they go out and get Thabo Sefolosha or someone and bench McCollum. It just doesn't make any sense. And even in the official 2k rosters, player ratings can take a big jump or hit even during the season depending on real life performance so I'd like to have something like this happen in a MyLeague.

Right now midway through my season, Sean Kilpatrick is averaging 16 ppg for instance, playing way above his 70 overall. If he keeps it up I would think he should see like a minimum 6 point boost in the offseason. Or Timothe Luwawu who's averaging like 11 pts, 6 rbs, 4 asts for Philly playing limited mins.

I mean I could manually change a player's attributes to reflect his performance I guess if I see a big difference, but it would be tough to go through and comb everyone's stats at the end of a season and check areas of improvement, what attributes to change, if a player earns badges etc. In theory I could also check right before season's end and if I see guys making big jumps in performance compared to their overall, go in and alter their potential and peak start so that they get a bigger boost in the offseason.

But those are just thoughts and so I was wondering if anyone had any other ideas on how I can combat this?

Agreed with progression. 2K should implement different progression "Curves" to help this.

Some peak fast and drop than climb again, some stay static till they hit 27 than pop, some kinda roller coaster up and down, and some follow the "normal" progression curve. Etc.

                  Wolves easily.

First season, you have pretty solid depth.

                  Rubio/Dunn/Jones
                  Lavine/Rush
                  Wiggins/Bazz
                  Dieng/Bjelica/Payne
                  KAT/Aldrich/Hill

Beyond that, you have roster flexibility which in my opinion is huge for a MyLeague to be fun. You'll need to move Rubio down the road. Gorgui Dieng and Bazz are both up for contracts, but you probably shouldn't sign both.

                  I'd recommend them.

I don't think a player's stats in a sports video game should dictate progression.

Someone having a good year doesn't automatically make them that same level player for years to come.

I get that line of reasoning too. But there are cases where it happens and guys get paid. Hassan Whiteside was another that was barely on a roster for a few seasons then exploded out of nowhere. I guess my point is a lot of times progression isn't gradual because you wouldn't have expected Whiteside to be more than like a 65 before 14-15 then after 14-15 he was upper 70s. And it's all because of the way he played in one season. We never really see that in MyLeague.

I'm not saying progression should be dictated by performance. But I do think it should be one of many contributing factors. Maybe even if it just moved a player's peak start to right now so they move up to their potential quickly even if that potential isn't that high. And that may be how I end up handling it.

But I get that everyone plays differently and has different opinions on how progression should work.

I get your point and I can't really argue it. I just like randomness a ton because that's really what would best represent real life.

I've stated this several times but I think sports games should handle progression/regression with the following:

                          -Ceiling Rating
                          -Floor Rating
                          -Likelihood to reach that ceiling
-Peak start and end (they at least have this).

The biggest problem in 2k is not really having that distinction in a player's potential ceiling that is there but is unlikely to be met (e.g. Beasley).

I get what you're saying but I felt like progression. Was a little less random and even had random guys having a huge spike in their overall because of a good season. I've also seen guys go down a few points or even in certain attributes from having a bad year which seemed ultra realistic to me. What are you playing with your progression and regression sliders set at?
