So after a victory against the pacers, Memphis improved to 3-5. But PG13 suffered a severe left ankle sprain and missed 4 weeks. Memphis, during this timeframe, dropped to 9-18.
******* MEM (9-18) v. SAC (12-14)
... Memphis had the lead all the way through. They fell behind in the 4th though for one key reason, and lost 99-97. Falling to 9-19. LeBron Finished with 24 Points, 6 Assists. And 2 steals.
PG13 finished with 19 points and 12 boards, but went down with ANOTHER INJURY in the 3rd quarter.
We spoke with the trainer after the game, and he had this to say "The injury seems to be on his opposite ankle from the previous one that was hurt. This is a sprained ankle on the right leg, nothing too bad. Day to Day."
I spoke to Greg Popovich and he spoke on whether or not they'd rest PG13. "No." Classic Pop. When asked for further comment, his assistant coach piped up and said "PG has had multiple ankle injuries this season. While some.may feel it wise to rest him, this is not the same ankle he hurt before, and we're in a state where we need to get back in playoff contention. Our original goal was to be 1st seed. Now we're fighting for somewhere between 5th-8th. Every game counts, so no rest for the wicked."
D.A. caught up with Paul George after his last game against the Pacers, who had this to say about his injury:

********** MEM (9-19) v. GSW (16-12)
"Today is a special Christmas Edition of the NBA! We have LeBron and the Memphis Grizzlies versus Stephen Curry and the Golden State Warriors, here at Oracle Arena." The camera cuts to a beautiful view of the bay, then back to inside the arena and focuses on PG13.
"And one of our main stories is the health of PG13. He seems to be having a lot of trouble with his ankles recently, something not totally uncommon, we've seen guys have multiple injuries to the same body parts. How do you overcome that..?" Kevin Harlan prompts the other announcers with a question.
"A good trainer, diet, and mostly will. You have to believe you will overcome it. If you think you're done for or this is going to keep holding you back, it will." Chris webber answers. "Now, let's cut to the sideline, D.A. is waiting with a report.
"Thanks Chris. I spoke to Byron Scott, coach of the Warriors, and he told me there's a social outcast in the locker room. Pau Gasol. He doesn't go to practices, hang out with teammates, or even socialize as you might assume. Why? Because he's recently been benched for a younger player in Clint Capela, and apparently, isn't very perky about it. Rumors are he wants to be moved off the team. We'll see if he gets his wish. Back to you guys."
Tip off goes to the Grizzlies. The 1st quarter starts very fast paced but Memphis plays good defense and adheres to their coaches demands. No threes.* Not a single one is made by GS all of the 1st. Memphis goes up 16-12 with 5 left in the 1st.
With 5 mins left in the 2nd, MEM is leading by 9. George has 8 pts, 2 reb and 2 ast already. And is still injured, but playing limited minutes through it. They need this win, so he's gonna have to.
George goes up for a layup but his ankle starts to bother him and he misses it. Popovich subs him out, and going into the second half, Memphis leads 48-43.
The third quarter starts and buckets are exchanged between the two teams, including a three by Curry with two defenders in his face, a dunk by George, and an alley oop from LeBron to Gasol.
Pau Gasol is subbed in and a battle of the Gasol brothers is born. Marc backs down Pau, and is SWATTED going up for the layup.
The 4th quarter begins and GSW leads by 7. Grizzlies start with the ball, and George slams it down hard
Curry tries to answer with a three, but is SWATTED by PG13 and it leads to* Paul George - Brice Johnson Alley oop:

Fast forward to the last few minutes of the game, and the teams are trading the lead back and forth. Someone has to win:
*
And the warriors take a two point lead off Thompson's 3. Memphis ties it up 97-97, then GS Hits a two to go up 99-97. MEM hits a 2 and ties it, then steals it, and George is fouled on a 3 pointer. He makes 2/3. And they go up 101-99.
GSW drive down the court, pass to thompson, and...

GSW win 102-101, on a three from Klay.
**Player of the Game**
