I'm a MyGM/MyLeague guy, I love building a team from the ground up. I see this years potential, without some of the bugs keeping me from really starting, I'm impressed with the work done on the franchise mode. Thank you.

Gameplay wise, very smooth--the animations (especially the new hand off animations look great). Tap outs, and tap ins are done very well without breaking the game. 2k17 is very difficult on superstar/hof, as it should be, but man I get destroyed, like 20+ points. Back to all-star until I get my ish together. I'm not complaining I'll get the hang of it. Two big things which have been mentioned before, the CPU takes advantage of any three situation and they make a lot of em if you aren't on your game... I'm not sure what to make of it yet. An annoying thing is the low post play-way too many contact And-1's, back board swishes. Every time I see the contact I expect a foul and an and-one. Something I believe should be a surprising and impressive event happens too regularly. Going to fiddle with sliders soon.

Brilliant work overall, but (small rant after seeing it year after year). For a AAA title, NBA 2k every year is littered with bugs and glitches... I love everything you guys do as artists, but man sometimes it feels like when a 2k game comes out that nobody ever bothered testing core features, like applying a custom logo to a jersey and then seeing if it works in game (it doesn't.) After a month, the game plays well with patches of course.

Luckily for 2k, I've literally just got used to not expecting a polished game when it releases (I've been dropping full price since NBA 2k(0) on Dreamcast) instead of being disappointed and yelling at my cat... I know there will be at least 4 or 5 core bugs keeping me from playing it hardcore until the patch drops, then I'll go on to log 500+ hours. But until then I pretend to be a big man in videogame forums! Also I am very pleased the micro stutter nightmare didn't carry over from last launch, I can at least play some features! Thank you!

TL;dr: phenomenal game, brings a truly unreal precedence to sports gaming. Ugh new year, new glitches that will take away experience until hammered out.

    9 out of 10.

    thanks 2k!
dude you and I are on the exact same page. I was just thinking last night that iv'e been conditioned to just accept that all sports games need a patch or 2 before its where it should be. It's kinda sad really but then I think to back in the day(i'm old) when I got a game and the things that were busted were just busted until next year and knowing in this day and age there will be a fix gives me some relief. It really is such a good game that there are literally moments where my mind is blown. The only thing I would change is that with so many glitches I couldn't give it a 9 i'd have to say 8.9 lol

The defense in this game is broken, defenders get caught behind their own teammates and other players too often leaving players wide open on the perimeter, sometimes players will double team for nothing, sag off their players for no apparent reason, just a bunch of stupid defensive breakdowns. Think im going to put this game down until the first big patch, its too early for basketball anyway I'm still in football mode.

It's a good game but it wasn't ready for release. I recommend in the future they release the game in late October to allow for more development time and to coincide more the the NBA season.

Yeah the defense really breaks this game form me. Players don't understand how to get around screens without getting lost. They don't know how to help on D without getting lost either. It sucks because other wise this game is great

Really? Again? And I thought after 2k16 it could only get better in regards of teammate defensive behaviour...

The worst part of this game is the community of players.

No matter what 2k does, it's still turbo spam steal running out bull**** basketball online.

I wish I didn't have such a drive to play online, because oh my God these people are infuriating. Big me in the park have 0.2 seconds to make a decision because spam stealers thrive.

And, I don't have friends to play with. Nobody I know can figure the game out and get frustrated in 5 minutes.

Now with the bans...HAVE to stir through bad teammates, user and AI alike.

Online is borderline unplayable in this current state for me.

This only works for one year.

CPU got back at an unrealistic level. And players didn't fill the lanes correctly. I also don't like the timeout menu. The on the fly menus are an improvement though.

Hopefully I'm able to get some serious gameplay in this weekend. Overall I think the gameplay is smoother and more fluid. I need to get better at the pro stick, especially the dribbling. I'm looking forward to it.
I'm hating the fast breaks so far, particularly the 3 on 2 and 2 on 1 fast breaks. I have no video...but there have been several occasions when I'm running the break up the middle up the court, and a big man filling in the lane will drift out to the corner for a 3.

Also, in 2k16...one of my favorite things to do on a 3 on 2 fast break was to dish it to one of the guys filling the lane, then alley-oop it to the guy filling the other lane. In 2k17, as soon as I pass it to one guy filling the lane, the passer and the guy in the other lane just stop and stick their hands out looking for a kickout. Is anyone else seeing this?

I've definitely noticed that too. Very frustrating! I've thrown a couple alley oops thinking that the other guy was going to fill the lane to finish but he stopped at the 3 line and it resulted in a turnover to the other team. Glad I'm not the only one.

Poor rated shooters are running to the 3pt line which is my offer issue. Not enough folks run down the middle besides athletic bugs or slow running bugs coming in late.

Maybe I'm just the worst 2k player of all-time, but I can't figure out how to get my ai teammates to stop leaving guys wide open in the paint. I'll set a universal no hedge and my team still does a hard hedge, allowing their man to run into the paint for an automatic two.

Even if it's not a PnR, my forward, no matter the team, he been randomly pausing near the three point line, creating a huge distance between him and his man. I don't play mycareer, but I'd rather not have to correct these egregious mistakes that my team makes almost every single possession.

Outside of the constant frustration, the game is lovely.

You can't it's either broken or a tactic the devs programmed within the game to make the CPU seem like it's playing "smart" I've tried every setting in the defensive settings and they still break down and leave guys open for no reason. That's the reason shooting percentages are high. Guys are being left open at a unrealistic rate.

                          Positives

1.) AI look for the 3s more often. Like it or not it's part of the NBA now and should be a part of 2K. Glad its finally in the game. In a game I recently played the Warriors attempted over 30 threes.
2.) Controls feel much better this year, players don't feel as stiff as they did in previous 2ks, the movement is more fluid.
3.) the pace of the game, its feels faster than last year, it feels like I'm playing with athletes.
4.) fouling animations look more realistic, every foul does not look like a violent collision.

                          Negatives

1.) the CPU you're going up against still react way to fast to loose balls, deflections, etc but it doesn't seem like it is bad as it was in 2k16.
2.) the bad transition defense stated by previous posters. Sometimes the opposing team's center runs free to the basket without anyone on your team running back.

Absolutely True. The defense in the game is hilariously broken to the point where i'm asking myself why i'm even trying to win when players are basically going to throw the game anyway.

Defense isn't perfect, but I do think there is some user error for those struggling to stop people.

In the three games I've played the CPU is averaging 88 ppg on 43 fg% with the Wolves on Superstar
