I really like it. The AI is looser and you have to watch certain things and understand help defense but I hope they don't cater to people who just need to get better. This is why games become mindless. Past years this game was pretty much run and gun run the same stuff over and over. I like that you have to mix things up this year. At first it took me a bit too to get used to it but having fun now. I think defensive breakdowns actually happen this year and it's not as predictable as past years where the ai was so good but you could fool it in certain ways because it was predictable. This year there are actual defensive breakdowns and you have to really watch for them.

This is the problem with screenshots of people who find breakdowns in the AI. I am not having these issues like you are because I just learned how to play and how it was meant to be implemented.

Last 3 games I've played have been chess matches and really great.

This is why games lack depth. I don't even use the coach settings but I think it's cool that making adjustments actually matters this year too. I feel like certain games I want to make adjustments and it gives it more depth that way.

It's the catered generation. Seriously. Most of you all act like you are rebels when you are really just a catered generation and followers on so many levels. I don't even mean that in the usual ignorant jerk sense. I mean it totally differently and actually very intelligently. I wonder what you'd all do if someone was really different honestly. Most of you are incapable of trying to truly understand.

I hope 2k doesn't ruin it. They fix all these supposed bugs because peopel find breakdowns in the AI and take a screenshot. They fix all that stuff we are right back to mindless basketball and the AI doing everything for you.

It's not even that difficult. You really just have to watch how plays develop and where breakdowns may occur. Make smart passes, move the ball around. It's awesome.

Like others have stated I think I'm gonna put this away until they hopefully iron out some issues with this game. How can you punish a player by either stopping him completely or slowing him down after beating a cpu player?? There is no way on gods green earth Kyle Kover should be checking Kyrie constantly on defence with the success!

How about patching that hideous menu interface. And that timeout UI has to be the worst UI of all of 2k. That thing is just absolute ridiculous. It's one thing to come up with something like that, but wonder who approved of that? I mean, prior to release I can't believe somebody didn't warn them and say, "this may not be the best option here". It's almost like a joke, and one day they'll come out and say 'here's the real UI, we was just messing with yall'.

Whats the deal with playing off ball offense and tying to cut around to get an open shot??

Its like when my defender bumps someone on my team all my momentum running gets sucked away and i come to a dead stop until he can catch back up to me and get glued again.

I'm glad you're not having issues and I agree that some people are going over board on the issues but it's hard to argue with 33JAF's videos. There are some serious issues with the game and I for one hope they fix some of them. I also enjoy the game immensely and last night I had probably the best game of video game basketball ever but no way I can deny that there arent some real frustrating moments.

Use shady mikes sliders bro. They make it so that below average defenders won't hardly ever be able to stay in front of guys with elite ball handling and or speed. Here are few demonstrations of mine using john wall. While you can get past the defender when it makes sense. The help d stepped up a lot. Most times i was forced to pull up from the elbow or just forced into lower percentage shots by rotations. That's how it should be.

Nice clean drive to the rim by Wall.

Best example of getting a slight step on Bayless and not being warped into position.

It all really depends on how you set the body up slider and the on ball D slider. Shady has them set at 0 in his slider set and i think it does wonders for the drive game. Here's his set https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E7evwGFnF7E

                          Re: NBA 2K17 Impressions Thread

One thing I definately notice about this game is if you just play free and run and gun you will get destroyed. I just did that and sat down and started playing like i would 2k15 and i got destroyed. The breakdowns that happen also don't look right

If you play patient and like the real nba it plays great. you chip away at leads and can make comebacks and it feels awesome.

breakdowns happen and you have to really watch as plays develop. It's hard to explain but i think it's purposely that way.

Shots develop like the real nba. Ill pass it to someone and sometimes the ai will pick him other times they will play off and you have to play it like a chess match. Crowder just took a shot for me it was so like the real nba where i was moving it around and i eventually got a shot where he had some space and i just took my time and shot it. Antoher play i was moving teh ball around and isaiah eventually made a cut underneath and i found him perfectly as he was cutting for the layup.

Totally different games. I just was free flowing it and not really thinking about wat i was doing and playing mindless and i got blown out. I played another game and would take my time and push it sometimes and other times not so much and it was a totally different game.

Games feel like chess matches and like you really have to feel your way through them. If you play it like past years and like nba jam and mindless it doesn't work.

2k definately seemed to do this purposely this year. More just trying to help those that are having issues and think these are bugs. I don't think they are. I think it's purposely made that way to emulate a more realistic game.

What was amazing in the 1st game as i was getting blown out my coach called a timeout and was talking about how we are playing without focus and need to move the ball around more. I started to do that and started to chip away at the lead. I dont know if that was just coincidence but it definately was cool.

The reason I'm questioning the validity of these bug videos is I'm seeing so much variety in this years game. I see all sorts of stuff happen. It doesn't mean it's a bug. I' suer there are some things wrong with it. I've seen some graphical hiccups and some shots that players seem to miss too much, but the variety in this years game is really good. Sometimes they do get stuck on screens. Other times they don't. Sometimes players will push guys around underneath and bull their way to create space. I see all sorts of stuff.

Normally I wouldn't do that, but this years i'm seeing so much variety it's kind of hard to say it's a bug. I've seen all that stuff happen. I've also seen it not happen.

It seems like it happens like the real nba where players do things that are questionable sometimes. They aren't super man and you have to slow down sometimes and not throw a floater pass.

In the nba these guys dont throw perfect bullet passes on teh run at full speed all the time. They have to slow down and make a smart pass etc..

Listen to the coach. Down 15. Tells me we need to play more disciplined and that they cant stop our pick and roll and that he wants me to keep running it until we get back into it. I did this and got back into it.

Thomas will have a wide open 3 quite a bit early in teh shotclock and he almost always misses it. I don't know why that is if it's just because it's early in the shotclock but he will be left wide open sometimes qutie often and almost always misses it so i just take my time and move it around. I think I've seen him hit that shot once and i still do take it sometimes and it never goes in.

Sry 3 posts in a row but no one else posted. All that said I've been up all night playing. This game is nothing like past years and actually something new for once and a huge jump from past years. It's like the real nba and the best experience I've ever had playing a sports game. I think normally i say these games are ok or good or not that great because nothing ever that new happens but this is new and just really something different.

I love how plays develop and players go hot and cold and big shots and different moments in the game really matter and everything. It's beautiful. The AI is incredible. I don't know how 2k did it but amazing. I'm sure there are some glitches somewhere but I'm seeing just all sorts of stuff and randomness and just basketball. I Think i've seen one or two weird things so far but I don't know. One was definately a graphic glitch. The other is it seems like isaiah thomas will get left alone at the the top of the key and never can buy a basket from there.

I love how players interact and you really have to angle and sometimes can just blow by people. I've also seen players get caught of of position and just foul very realistically. Crazy ball physics and so much variety to this game. The presentation and everything just there is so much in this game. Stil would love local commentators. MAybe some day. We may be years away from that if ever.

They actually have 4 point plays too.

I've seen some amazing plays. I was moving the ball around and big shots happen like real basketball where it was a bail out shot by ko from way behind the 3 pt line as the clock expired. It was absurd.

Wish there were real coaches and more variety in what they say as far as how the game is going and actually legit. It does seem random. Wish there were more big shot animations like avery bradley falling out of bounds as he hits a game winner. Shooting in general is tough. The sliders are just a little tough for me right now on allstar I'm playing. It seems like it should be just slightly easier but I dont know.

All that said I did just hit a shot post edit as Isaiah was falling out of bounds sort of as time was expiring with 30 seconds left. Still lost by 3 though but maybe that bradley shot is possible. I wasn't even trying to do it. It just happened within the flow of the game.

People are saying the shooting is too difficult. I just looked at the stats after teh game and it feels like some shots should go in more often but the stats were right there and realistic shooting percentages. I lost to the grizz on allstar by 3. I like the challenge. I hope they don't make it too easy. I like that players may actually be bad free throw shooters and miss some as well as shots and not everyone shooting 50 percent all the time. I hope 2k doesn't cheese it. It seems pretty good to me. This is my 3rd time with the game spent a few nights so far and I was up all night playing and it's really good. Maybe tweak it slightly but I'm keeping the disc version of this game this time. I usually buy digital but I don't want them breathing on this too much.

I'd also like even mre randomness as far as the games im playing. It seems like allstar which ive been playing all along games are pretty close each time at this point. Seems like as i get better ill just start winning more. Doesn't seem like here is much randomness like teams just dont show up some games and then teams play ridiculously difficult. They could just randomize the difficulty more. I don't know if this game takes it into account back to backs in franchise mode and different things like that. I'm just doing play now so far.

Have a good morning. i'm going to sleep for a bit. Love the game. Would love it even more if players actually went ice cold some games and like 0 for 10. I've seen Isaiah start off 1-8. That was pretty cool.

What do you think abou fastbreaks? For me they are ruined, every player is standing in the paint instead of starting to run to the opposite basket.
I'm not talking about cherry picking, what I'm talking about is they literally stop and wait for the Center to catch a rebound.
I dont think I have scored a single point using fastbreak this year.
