    Re: NBA 2K17 Impressions Thread

Was playing a MYGM game, Lakers vs Warriors. Probably one of the most fun games i've had in a while.

Was playing on custom sliders, Warriors hit 18 threes... most of them were wide open due to their screens, cutting, and my players not playing defense.

Warriors couldn't stop us inside. I have DJ and he went 25 and 11 i think. The game went to OT, my Lakers had a chance to win but we didn't get any late game calls.

I may have been screaming the entire game, but it was fun.

Yeah, the CPU on-ball defense is so unrealistic.

If you're controlling Irving, and Korver is on you, you should be able to blow by him using zero dribble moves.

Guys as a whole need to be more explosive. If I'm doing a dribble move, and I hot the move stick and turbo, I wanna see my guy explode. Instead there's a hesitation and the defender just sucks you in.

It really depends on how you're being guarded if you're being guarded closely by Kyle Korver with Kyrie Irving then yes you're absolutely right Kyle Korver should be exposed defensively but if he backs off Kyrie and you still try to blow past him then there could be a instance where Kyle Korver could stay with him

Finally got a decent amount of games in

          Pros:

Controls are more responsive, dribbling is smooth for the most part. I was able to break defenders down with a player that was pretty much useless last year (Isaiah Thomas) and pull off some sick evade layups against big men at the rim. I also like the aiming of the shot stick, could do without the bonus though. Lightning is better as well, still off for staples center and msg.

          Cons:

Help defense is horrible yet again, POE gone. Late game A.I is a joke again, why can't they use all the tools available to users. No walk the dog (roll the ball) up court if their out of timeouts, 0.2 left on the clock in the half court they'll try to catch and shoot instead of a lob to the basket being the correct play, this kills immersion in close games down to the wire. Crowd awareness/reaction horrible, two buddies of mine played a game, warriors user gets a block and pushes in transition an nails a bomb of a three with Curry crowd barely had a YMCA pickup game reaction to the events on the court, when IRL Oracle arena would of been rocking. High school body on too many players, when it really only suits Ingram and Thon, possibly KD if there was muscle definition added to his player model or any of these NBA players for that matter.

Though the game does has its bugs, I got to salute 2k for the effort that I'm seeing in 2k17. Good job devs, and I was hesitant prior to finally playing the game. It does seem a bit rush, but I do see the improvement's and the effort. The A.I. and player awareness on defense needs to be addressed. Fast breaks can be improved as well.

This game is bizarre. If I shoot a realistic percentage the cpu will usually will as well. I was playing pretty close games but ultimately losing on SS but nothing was really out of wack until I got a double digit lead in the second half of a game.

I was playing as the Pistons vs the Bucks. I really concentrated and took good shots and limited turnovers. I shot 63% which I guess can happen (I played the same match up the game before and shot 41% to the cpu's 43%) the cpu kept it close because they were making some ridiculous shots and my AI teammates were getting beat or playing way out of position. The cpu shot 58%.

Things got down right stupid in the 3rd qtr. Reggie Jackson got hot so the cpu started to double team him 35 ft from the basket. Oftentimes they would double with a center leaving Drummond wide open under the basket. After several dunks now Drummond is hot and the cpu is attempting to double both Jackson and Drummond. I'm getting dunks all over the place. The cpu never adjusted. However, even though I'm playing solid defense the cpu stays within striking distance because they won't miss. They shoot 70%. They hit contested shots all over the floor. Poor shooters draining threes. It was ridiculous. So far can't say I'm enjoying the experience.

Getting really frustrated with my CPU controlled teammate fouling their guy under the basket all the time.

So many times the computer will dump the pass inside, and they'll quick go up for a shot before I have a chance to switch to that defender. Well, my CPU controlled teammate automatically goes into that dang fouling animation, putting the computer on the line.

Messing around with the sliders. How well do they actually work?

I set the CPU's 'on ball defense' and 'lateral quickness' all the way to ZERO. And yet the CPU's on-ball defender is still good.

If those attributes are set to 0, they should be terrible guarding the ball handler.

Its all about body up slider change to 0 for both and you good to go.

Bigs can cover to much ground on defense(they are too fast)

Late contest on laups matter too much.

                    Random blocks doing pumpfakes.

Leaning shots for guys who have catch and shoot badge should be removed.

So far I'm LOVING 17. The dribble moves really stand out in H2H, but I agree with most that the CPU D is waaaay too Alvin Roberston-esque, lol. Still, it seems to me a matter of spacing and attacking before the D is set, and more importantly, using the "explosion" first step launchers when the D does get locked on. It feels great when you do manage to shake them bastids.

Another peeve I have is that animation where a screener will slip and push the ball defender backwards all the way down the lane, and the screen defender doesn't have the awareness to switch. I give up at least 3 auto treys per game when that happens. I love the animation, since it happens a lot in the NBA, but usually it's his own defender that gets pushed, not the ball defender. The smaller guards definitely need a counter animation to evade that push, or get around that guy. There needs to be a lot more anti collision animations in general. So many double pin down plays don't work because the offensive player gets gummed up in traffic under the basket.

All around though, amazing, amazing game, IMO. Its easy to nitpick a few AI, animation and body type hiccups, but 98% of this game is executed brilliantly. Congrats to the entire 2K team!!!

First off my first few games were terrible. This game is either way to easy or way to hard. First off I'm a player who loves playing on pro settings because on pro the AI doesn't do all these crazy automatic shots. On all-star settings I always feel cheated and never feel like me and the AI are playing on the same level. When I play on pro this year the game is way to easy. And why in the hell are all the shots in this game to easy for both the AI & me. last year felt so much more competitive. Any setting over pro is a cheat for the AI. Sliders don't seem to correct anything so far.......

I'm disappointed. Something is so off about this years game. And what the hell did they do to the sliders this year? Also the freethrow bar seems off. Its like I'm shooting the ball off but the shoot still gos in. I'm not sure what the developers are doing but this game is way to easy to score.

Terrible experience so far out the box. Last years game was so much better

think that this has to do with the fact they got rid of the casual/default/sim settings.

so any adjustments to sldiers is basically starting from a clean slate.

every year I would set the game to sim, then make the same slider adjustments and get the result and feel that i was looking for.
not so much this year and I'll just say it probably has to do with 2k taking out casual/default/sim setting.

its a good game, but like you Im having a hard time finding the right slider adjustment
