Nice! It must be a new addition in 2K17. Does it happen on layups as well? I love those quick layups that are banked in and graze the front of the rim and fall through. There is a certain spin on the ball and touch when doing layups that can lead to that.

Am I the only one that doesn't really like the archetype system in general and just wish it was the way it used to be? Like 2k14/ maybe 15?Comment

Re: NBA 2K17 Impressions Thread
Sorry if this has been mentioned, but does anyone else feel like there's way too many and-1's on user vs user games?
Everything is great, but for me this has been a glaring issue. Way too many conversions, and in general too many foul calls at the rim. Might as well not even use the block button around the rim or else you'll get whistled..
If anyone can lead me to a solution that would be awesomeComment

To answer your question, I agree on too many foul calls at the rim...you're better off using 'hands up' (RS up) to avoid fouling...Comment

Also, most of the time you don't have time to switch to that guy and get hands up. As soon as the CPU gets an offensive rebound, he goes right back up and your CPU teammate automatically fouls.Comment

Re: NBA 2K17 Impressions Thread
GOOD STUFF
Yeah I've been using more discipline in the paint with the right stick, however contesting at the rim is a lot more fun when you can use the jump/block button. Don't get me wrong, foul calls around the rim is totally fine with me.. but it's to the point that you notice the frequency of the and-1's.
I would cry tears of joy if they decided to address this.
Has there been other posters saying this?Last edited by ex carrabba fan; 10-09-2016, 11:00 PM.Comment

Re: NBA 2K17 Impressions Thread
Does the Left Trigger still play positional defense? I had a lot of success in 2K16 by using that move on defense. Not only is it a good way to use your defensive stance to stay in front of a guy, but it works great for closing out on shooters as well as playing sound defense in the paint without jumping. Well, once in awhile your player will still jump in this mode, so I guess they didn't want to make it too powerful. You can also still foul when using the LT defense if you get too close or the offensive player just gets the call when there is contact. But overall it helps a ton in 2K16.
I usually reserve manually attempting blocks when I feel I have the angle. If you are just playing in front of the guy I don't think that's a great time to go for a block (like real life). But a player running in from the side or that has a good angle on a rotation, I will do a quick switch and go for the swat. It works well on chasedown blocks as well. Again, this is 2K16 info so I don't know if it's been changed.Last edited by fluent2332; 10-09-2016, 11:04 PM.Comment

Man, I'm telling you that RS for hands up isn't working for me still. I don't get it.

I literally use it all game.
Agree on switching though, there are too many times where my teamate will go into an animation, usually one that will result in a foul before I can switch onto them. Wish there was a way to set how they contest.

I have...and some others have agreed.
It's to the point I essentially concede baskets once a player gets an offensive rebound.Last edited by The 24th Letter; 10-09-2016, 11:13 PM.Comment

Re: NBA 2K17 Impressions Thread
I too have literally just stopped playing defense when my opponent gets the offensive board. Not worth the risk.
I haven't tried sliders but I wonder if that could be a solution.Comment

Re: NBA 2K17 Impressions Thread
Does the Right Stick defense actually do anything good? I never used it in 2K16. Sometimes I might try to deny the ball with it but it was wonky.Comment
