Hey now, be fair, this game never played well for me. I started out negative.

Well, there was that one single game long ago...

It's like anything. There are negatives and positives, and they all work together to make the game good or bad. For the first while, everyone is still kinda "learning" the game and what it has, and the new stuff like rebounding(kinda), pull ups in transition, a much better user inside game, amazing post play (I think the dropsteps are the best addition to the game), all make us say "wow, that's awesome, glad they added/fixed that!"

But then the new paint wears off and you realize that the negatives quickly begin outweighing the positives. Now I'm not super critical until I can fix something with a slider. But after 80 plus hours of trying to get sliders to produce a semi consistent experience, I've given up.

Oh well, doesn't really matter, I had a catastrophic hard drive failure, so now I can't do anything while it's being RMA'd...

I have 382 hours in this game. I've spent as much time as anyone around here trying to help people maximize their enjoyment of the game and understand how to use the sim based tools inside the game. Should people like me be dismissed in our game feedback when it points out problems in the game because it's the end of October?

It would be much more respectful and honest to take each critique and piece of feedback based on its own merits, rather than snidely dismiss people whose perspectives differ from your own.

Not at all, and nothing in my post suggested that should happen.

I don't know about everyone else but i've put the game down permanently.

I will admit, I was one of the few at the very beginning who had high praise for this game. Not so much now. There are way too many issues across the board. Not just in gameplay but in-game menus, notable omissions from last years game etc etc.

For the first time since picking up 2K with 2K6 - for me at least - the issues are too much of a game breaker. 2K8 had me fuming at it's trailer and then the release, but had me doing a complete 360 within a week.

Fortunately, 2K16 will be getting another lifeline thanks to 2K17's flaws. If I had a xbox360 i'd probably hunt down Live 10 and 2K8 (possibly even APF 2K8 lol)...
...we held several meetings to discuss the future of the franchise. After going through those meetings, it became very clear that the vision I had for the game was different from where the leadership wanted to take it. I parted ways with EA shortly after...

Is it me or did the game play BETTER before the patch? I hate this crap. Every year the game changes after you start playing. Now the AI is able to make these crazy comebacks by getting fouled over and over and getting to the freeline. I feels so cheap. I wont be playing this game until I get my new PC build first.

This game is glitched. I just don't get it.....I'm gonna download 2k16 and play that for a while for a while. Than come back

              Re: NBA 2K17 Impressions Thread

I just played my first (12 minute) quarter of 2k17 and a few things jump out at me:

              NBA Live 2k17
This year's version seems a lot like the NBA Live I played on PS3. Something about the animations and the way the game feels "sticky".

              Move!
I'm using the Warriors and Durant and Thompson will just stand in opposite corners for the whole 24 while i have the ball at the point. I haven't tried calling any plays yet (in 2k16 I never did), so maybe this is why I'm having this problem.

              Splash Bro Can('t) Jump
I have watched many hours of Warriors basketball living in the SF Bay Area and I have never seen Curry dunk. I don't think I have even seen him dunk in 2k16. In my first quarter of play, he has already jammed 2 down when i was driving to lay one up.

                Re: NBA 2K17 Impressions Thread

my review of this game is as follows.
I want to like this version of NBA2k. But I just dont.
I knew the day would come, that 2k would release a NBA game that I didnt like. 10+ years of one title satisfying me is a good run. I made the change to 2k back in 04..
Ill continue to revisit this version, to see if I can grow to like it but for now Im back to 2k16 and 2k15.

I find this version to arcade-y and not intuitive enough for me. Too much run and gun, too many players ai controlled teams catching fire and then playing for an entire game like they are in a version of NBA Jam.

Ive stated this before, but in game adjustments are practically non existent in this game and that is because of the pace of all the teams. IMO strategy does not exist in this game.

most folks have listed the issues that I also find troublesome. so need to rehash.

for the record-Im strictly an offline guy, and I still cant adjust the game to my liking. and I do not want to spend an entire year adjusting sliders to get a fix. Ive been using my same slider set, give or take a few adjustments for the past 4-5 versions of 2k. I can not do that this year.

I do not know if its the so called badges that is affecting the game-play, or the fact that they removed the casual, sim, default options, but something is terribly amiss.

Im a NBA2k supporter/fanboy, so Ill still support future products.

as of now Id give this game a 6 out of 10.

Anyone having issues getting fast breaks? I feel like the CPU is catching up a bit too easily.

Don't know if this was noticed or mentioned (thread is 100+ pages). I'm glad they took out the stupid coach goals in MyCareer

"run down the clock " (while you are losing)
"feed the post" (when your PF/C can't score)
"run pick and rolls" (when the AI blows them up)

                    So forth and so on

After some tweaking around with the settings, I'm finding that a lot of my issues with the game came with the difficulty settings. As usual, the game becomes cheap when you play at Superstar and Hall of Fame.

I decided to play on All-star and change all the sliders to 50 so that I could get a good look at how the game is tuned at its core. I saw that a lot of the issues we complain about--the inability to play on-ball defense effectively, the CPU's ability to get every loose ball, the CPU recovering too fast on fast breaks and other situations, the CPU making every contested shot seemingly--goes away with these settings.
According to my old marketing professor, satisfaction is when product performance meets or exceeds consumer expectation.

Am I the only one who hates playing online? Every game I played so far is just people cheesing in one way or another, basically, no matter if I win or lose, it's just not enjoyable as I get angry over all the BS that happens and besides this, I always have lag even though I have 200 MB internet speed.
Even if the HOF CPU makes almost every shot which is also frustrating, at least it plays proper basketball and I can also do the same.
I enjoy MyPark though but I don't use VC so it sucks how incredibly hard it is to get your player to a decent OVR.

Ok this might be the LAST DRAW!!!

The AI throws a freaking pass and hits a 3 pointer in overtime. This comeback glitch is a coding placed in the game and has been there since the beginning. Its needs to be taken out. This game has some of the best animations for sim basketball yes. But the gameplay engine might be one of the worst ive seen in the series.....somebody dropped the ball this year and I hope it reflects on its sells and reputation......
