    - Love the new rebounding. The physicality, players tipping the ball to themselves, and my favorite part being able to go back up for your own offensive rebound/tip.
    - Pull ups are a thing of beauty both for the HUM and AI.
    - The game feels much more fluid this year. I'm able to occasionally beat someone off of the dribble and get to the rim. I don't feel like I'm constantly sucked into long animations like I have in the past.
    - Players speed seems to make a huge difference. 2k seems to improve on this every year, but I can really tell the difference in fast players beating slow players down the court this year. In one of my practice games I was using Houston vs Sacramento and WCS (85 speed, 68 acceleration) was constantly beating Ryno (40 speed, 38 accl) down the court. Even when i manually used Ryno and turboed all of the way down the court I couldn't keep up with WCS.
    - Players faces and arena lighting seem better than ever.
    - One of my favorite low key additions. They finally increased the font in the player menus this year. I have good eye sight and since 2K14 I could barely read them on a 50 inch TV

    Cons:
    - Many player models have taken a step back. Bodies really need an improvement.
    - Both crowd and the new arena audio leave a lot to be desired.
    - There's still some transition issues. Players guarding another position don't recognize unguarded open players when the offense player beats their defender down court and that leads to a lot of open baskets. See the WCS/Ryno Pro above. I like that speed makes a difference, but don't like that other players don't see help on WCS before Ryno can get in position.
    - The AI didn't pull out Boggie in the 3rd Quarter when he picked up his 5th foul. I'm hoping it was because I was playing six minute quarters.

agree with cpu defense needs a major overhaul. way too many cpu teammates getting lost on fastbreak and half court defense.

above avg defenders danny green and kawhi, among others, no where near their defensive assignments multiple x per game- its rediculous

also cpu pg wander off court around half court occasionally.

also cpu not pullling players in foul trouble in first half on 12 minute quarters. routinely seeing 4 and 5 fouls on a cpu player in the first half.

I've mostly been playing MyTeam and I thought I was pretty lucky to get a DeMarre Carroll card in my pre-order packs for his defense so I could focus on improving offense at other positions for a while, but I've been stuck on the Jazz for two days now in Domination and it's primarily because he leaves Hayward open all day long and with reckless abandon. It's actually really puzzling, what's the point of having an average offense guy with really good defense if the defense is irrelevant? I recently replaced him with Ingram as a starter rather than sixth man and putting Devin Booker at my 2 and my offense has taken a real shot in the arm without my defense suffering at all. Seems backwards.

Hey, I have Carroll on my Lakers squad as well. Have you tried telling him to "Stay Home". That seemed to completely solve the issue for me.

Had the same thing happen with Carroll leaving Hayward as well, and it drove me absolutely nuts.

I think I finally realized why the player models throw me off, and it's because yes they're really skinny and lacking definition, but it's more because the forearms and shoulders have like no discernible difference from the rest of the arm. They just have long alien arms.

Re: Fouls: You're right and the same thing happens in 12 min quarters. It seems fouls only matter in the first half when it comes to pulling players for the CPU.
I think the crowd has its moments, but even in 5.1 the variety and dynamic nature is lacking for the excitement and bummers. Like, there is a swell to the crowd, but there's nothing unique to it so it becomes more white noise than anything. So to me it has less to do with how loud it gets, and more with what's actually being heard in that noise.

This helped me as well. Seems like the idea of "team defense" means your player will wander a bit much, but the really good defenders will consume guys much better if you have them really focus on just that player.

The individual size-ups etc. are still there just a heads up. Kyrie and Steph and so on have unique stuff they do.

Was just saying this.....I'm pretty sure there are more individual ones than 2K16....even Lance Stephenson has one haha

I love the game Offline playing against the CPU, I can adjust the game, sliders etc. but during Online competitive games...

2k17 conserves its (IMO) 2 worst legacy issues:

1.- The paint is still not a respectable place, it's way to easy to cut and lead pass for an easy bucket, too cheap, and of course, people exploits it...

2.- Transition Defense doesn't work. Cheesers just need to keep running around like a headless chicken as the best way to find open shots...

What's the point to try to play sim basketball where the game allows this stuff year after year? I am starting to get tired of it!!!
                Ignorance is Bliss...

Cpu doesn't fall for anything. 2k16 was hard but not impossible to blow by defenders but this game is impossible. I hate the layup meter also.
I actually feel like it's too easy to get past guys this year. I'm blowing past guys with Westbrook and Wall. I mean like flying past them with 0 contact on the perimeter. It's realistic sure, But it makes the game too easy. Just play around with it. Soon it'll be too easy to you also.

                    Re: NBA 2K17 Impressions Thread

Finally got everything working. Got a real good face scan finally. Got my expansion teams into my gm and actually was able to play some games.

Game play is excellent and feels much smoother and less canned than previous years.
I like the graphics. They are a little more NBA livish but I liked the looks of that game.
The new controls I'm enjoying as well.
I honestly hate the menus. They are super confusing. I couldn't find the ability to upload teams until I made a dummy my league and went into relocation and found it. Uploaded them there and then backed out and started a mygm. Maybe the ability is hidden somewhere else but as far as I could tell that's how you had to do it which is fairly dumb.
Soundtrack minus a couple songs isn't my cup of tea. Except I can't get the club on a Tuesday song outta my head. Lol
I like the commentary variation. Aldridge does seem weird though almost forced. I'm not real familiar with him but in the game he comes off as a bad actor.
Off season stuff is a blast. Draft lottery, rule changes being particular highlites.

All in all I really like the game. I've had serious problems but the thing is I'd rather a game innovate and deal with issues instead of 2K not taking chances. The relocation / expansion feature is amazing and I had no doubt when I read the feature list a few weeks ago that a game this ambitious would have it's issues but bottom line is I applaud 2k for being this ambitious and at the end of the day it's a great game.

fatigue is a problem in domination. user fatigue is awful... meanwhile the CPU can play there guys 15 mins (out of the 20) with ease... I can barely squeeze 10 mins out of my main usage guys and thats with calling tons of timeouts. (3 point fatigue per timeout? thats it?) cmon man

                        Re: NBA 2K17 Impressions Thread

Played this game to death since Friday, so I have to say it's brilliant but does feel a little like 2K16 only a little.

                        Positives:

                        1. Shooting is the best its ever been.
                        2. The controls are better.
                        3. Game is more fluid.
                        4. Dribbling system is money.
                        5. Love the different commentary teams.
                        6. Presentation might be the best in the series.
                        7. The shot meter, which I don't use but I have it own now since I'm in learning curve period mode is the best we ever had.

                        Negatives:
                        1. CPU plays unrealistic basketball. Making every shot at the rim including contact. Making every wide open shot. D and F grade shooters are sharpshooters, so what happens when a C, B and A shooter goes off? I can't finish at the rim to save my life even when I time my layup, hook shot, etc.

                        2. Every team plays the same, e.g. the Grizzlies do not play like the Warriors. They grind, which is why their arena is called the Grindhouse because of their brutal defense and slow-paced style but they are playing super fast and doing 3 screens and backdoor cuts like GSW. Mike Conley running up the floor doing pull-up 3s.

                        3. Game is not as responsive as I thought when playing the Prelude.

                        4. That stupid animation where you stumble and you're trying to keep your balance. It leads to a turnover 90% of the time.

                        5. Psychic CPU defense. I didn't even pass the ball yet and the AI is jumping or about to grab the ball to intercept. Same problem I saw in 2K16.

                        6. Passing sucks still. Takes 8 years to pass and when you do it's a turnover. Bounce passing is also a pass I do the best but it's either deflected or the defense collapses you, so you're screwed. I'm not talking about wild passes. I'm talking about a pass close to your teammate.

Most of the negatives are because of the AI. AI plays the smartest I have ever seen and it's great and all but seriously, the CPU has too many advantages. Defense and the fastbreak are my bread and butter but not this time around so far. My defense right now is like playing NBA 2K for the first time yes like the first time I played the first game. I am LeBron and I am pushing the pace but no matter who you are against, the CPU is right there or you get a rebound on a free throw and you pass to the shooting guard to start a fastbreak, your pass gets stolen. I have won a few games by playing elite defense but I am shocked when this happens because I find it hard to defend. I am leaving too many players open. My teammates are asleep behind the wheel and by the time I switch to the teammate it's over. Seems like my players tire out at an alarming rate.

Like I said before in another thread: I said I wanted to master Superstar for PNO but I lost all my games but my first, which was me as Team USA vs Australia, so I changed to All-Star. I did this last year but I was switching back and forth but not this time. Superstar is too much. Your morale goes down when you are getting killed by 30 or 40 by the CPU all the time. I can't keep a lead either but yeah, I am not this bad but it's just a weekend of play, so who knows by December I will forget about this.

NBA 2K17 is a 9/10 for me overall. I don't want my emotions to cloud my review. The AI needs to be toned down because it's not simulation. It's like someone put all the sliders on 100 for the AI and you have 0. It's that bad but every year I have a fit with the AI but you eventually beat them. I have had a few blowouts but most of my wins have been close ones. I have also noticed in MyLeague the game isn't that bad but in Play Now it's insane. I always noticed that but MyLeague isn't going to happen now because I suck to a point where if I played PNO right now I would have a losing record. Sorry for the rant but I had to say this. I really love this game but these are my impressions.

Not only that he has been hugely involved in being forthright and interacting with this community over the years... Overall I've been enjoying 2k17 A LOT so far. It's way more intelligent, robust and fun than 2k16. Yes, the game does have sort of a arcadey feel to it due to faster gameplay. But the new arcadey feel has made this game even way more fun than ever before! I've always felt 2k16 was way too slow.

                            Other pro's:

                            - Defense is the best this year. This year you really have to bust your chops off to make good shots.

                            - Shooting feels very realistic and very fluid this year. Quite hard for the first time but once you get the hang of properly timing your shots it becomes easy.

                            - Rebounding is much tougher.

                            - Setting screens is way smoother and more responsive.

                            - Much smarter AI.

                            - The Park is very fun in 2k17 (aslo loads faster) .. gameplay is tougher. The Park in 2k16 is too easy and extra cheesy.

                            --- CON's:

                            - Should be able to choose at least TWO archetypes for our players.

                            - Sunset Park and OldTown are too light and have a really goofy cartoony look

                            - A majority of NBA player body model's need improving

                            - Can't skip the long cutscenes in Career mode
