    Re: NBA 2K17 Impressions Thread

I've played a handful of quick games on pro. I really don't like the way fast breaks are done this year from what I can tell. In 2k16 you new when you had fastbreak opportunities and lanes were filled correctly. In the handful of games I played there were no fastbreaks. If there were, it was done sloppy. CPU got back at an unrealistic level. And players didn't fill the lanes correctly. I also don't like the timeout menu. The on the fly menus are an improvement though.

Hopefully I'm able to get some serious gameplay in this weekend. Overall I think the gameplay is smoother and more fluid. I need to get better at the pro stick, especially the dribbling. I'm looking forward to it.

Yeah, my players are constantly being tired much quicker than the cpu as well. I only use turbo on the break, or turning to explode on a drive.

        Same here.

Even when I call a TO, it still doesn't improve their health by much.

          PC: MyGM only impressions

So after playing a lot over the weekend and being a sole MyGM person and sim player. I'm pretty disappointed overall and I'm sorry if people take offense to it, but with all the improvements that were listed by 2k of the rivals, more control in game, better A.I. and other things that really got me excitied about playing MyGM for a year and change. Some of the features really do add to immersion and the expansion team and draft stuff is absolutely fantastic. I love it dearly and have been waiting for something like that. Just such a great implementation.

The things that really get me are things I saw in 2k16 and little things that kill immersion of playing a proper game against the A.I.

The crowd can be very very lifeless even in 100 point rival games. They don't clap for anything and just chant defense, defense. I actually stopped playing today cause I was playing the clippers in MyGM and I felt like in a quarterfinal game there was no reason for me to be playing as it felt like it was just two pick up teams with nothing at stake and no passion. This was happening in 2k16 and so I'm not happy it isn't fixed come this time around.

Next thing is a little thing, but irks me. Assistant coaches give all the team talks while the Head Coach talks to bench players as if he isn't supposed to be talking to his starting 5... It only comes up sometimes while in game, but seriously. It creates this weird unimpressive play style.

3 pointers are incredibly hard to stop, but I think that will be solved once a patch comes out so I'm not too worried.

Replays or highlights seem to have gotten some work to where they actually work and are much better still could do with a little touch up.

The game looks good different dribbles and animations make it really enjoyable as well as having rookies and roster changes of course. The game has a lot of potential for the MyGM, but it falls very far from the mark from my many playthroughs so far.

My experience is purely from a person who only plays MyGM solely and nothing else really. I also play on PC so please take that into account. I can't remark on the other game modes so I won't try, but Im sure there are a ton of people who have played those and can give a good informative report on that.

Hope this gives you guys some insight into some of the things I think need work to really make MyGM come to life.

            Re: NBA 2K17 Impressions Thread

Still primarily playing Domination in MyTeam since I'm coming off a heavy Diamond Dynasty addiction and it seems like a nice way to get used to the way the game controls without feeling like anyone is aware of what I'm doing or noticing things like "player X shouldn't be able to do that, or why can't I do Z with player Y?" That said...

After getting stuck on the Jazz for the entire weekend, I finally beat them this morning and now I'm finishing off the Rockets and I have to say, for the first time in my decade playing 2K games, I really do notice the difference between the different teams.

The Jazz were ferocious with screens and constantly taking advantage of the idiot human AI to get wide open 20+" jump shots.

The Magic were obsessed with that give and go move I haven't really mastered where you'd do the hold circle football-style handoff and transition into a cutting to the paint pass holding triangle. Had to play them twice and they hit that play two out of three possessions.

The Rockets are so easy to run up the score on but you have to be careful to get too cocky because their offense is essentially their defense. I've got more points through 3 quarters than ever before, I'm abusing Harden on fast breaks and I've got more blocks than ever before because the Rockets won't stop shooting shots, yet I'm only up 8 in a game I feel like I'm dominating.

The Bucks were...The Bucks. I don't know where their team will wind up in real life, but they don't translate well to a video game I don't think and it showed. I was quickly up 13-2 in the first 40 seconds of the game and even when they got within 3 or 4 points I knew it was just because I was letting them have some fun. Giannis had like 5 blocks though, that kid is tuff.

2nd video yeah he had to gain control because the AI speed bursted and bumped him (he was beat before the burst )and regained dominant def position...(Shouldve played this one back in real time so you could see the burst of speed made by the cpu..thats my fault)

Those are 2 things that I saw in multiple games that irked me so I will bring attention to it...

Dude, players sneak behind defenses for easy baskets all the time.
The first video is really easy to explain.
Both guys thought the other guy was going to get back to get the guy cutting to the basket. When neither guy did they guy streaked to the basket for any easy dunk.
Happens all the time in real basketball.

Yo pack, how do you know your player's energy so precisely ? Ain't it only a different color this year ? Or do you see it in the sub menu when you press start ?

I was trying to stay positive but after some more games I have to agree with most of it. Im mostly an offline franchise player and these things sadly ruin the immersion for me I want lively crowd and AI at least trying to replicate what teams in real games would (walking up the court, etc.) some bugs like time out menu etc dont help either.

As for rival games. I don't think it adds much in the way of better crowd but the rival game sure is a blast to play. Within the first 6 games or so the Bulls play the Pacers twice. They have a rival rating of 100. What I've noticed(or imagined) is that there seems to be more fouls, a tighter game and overall great performaces from the star players.

I am noticing constantly though, I get a steal on the perimeter with Jay Williams who, compared to the teams' players I'm been playing against and specifically the players he's taken a solid steal from, he should be breaking away from immediately. And he does, for a quarter of a second. And then from that point on people behind him will just RIIIIIIIIIDE him until they've caught up and swiveled in front of him. Like, I've watched him struggle to collect his dribble with no one in front of him but a couple guys reaching out trying to grab him for two or three seconds in a situation where I should have DEFINITELY just taken the ball and thrown in a dunk for posterity. That's pretty frustrating, and my main point of non-praise so far (besides all the goofy, complicated **** MyTeam does compared to Diamond Dynasty I've outlined elsewhere).

As a pure basketball game, this feels real, real good, better than anything since 2K10/11/12, but the annoying stuff stands out so much more for that reason.

Sub menu when I pause the game.

Depending on where I'm at in the game, I'll start making subs after about 6-8 mins depending on the position.

Yeah i feel you man. It's only happening in key moments in the game. Honestly the game is flat out cheating. Not with shooting percentages, But with small things like suction screens/picks, Guys losing their man for no reason at all regardless of defensive rating or settings, Getting into perfect position for a rebound before the ball comes out of the shooters hands. These are all cheat tactics the cpu uses to gain an advantage on the user. Since the shooting is fair this year, That's what they use to cheat.

I've managed to get it a few times but only when I tell my team to run in transition and push the pace. I can pull down the ball and launch that thing down the court.

                                It's definitely possible.

I'd record a video of it BUT NVIDIA WON'T RECOGNIZE NBA 2K17 WHICH MEANS SHADOWPLAY ISN'T WORKING.
