Re: what happened to dribbling?
Yep.
Like I said, between playing with Kyrie, Rose and Tim Hardaway - all their moves looked similar to me, and I'm not shabby on the sticks at all. Only real difference is the rhythm dibbles.
Last year there were so many size up animations in the game, I really felt the individuality of players. Four different slots for unique handles - I absolutely loved them. Mixed in with some manual stick skill and those things were nasty.
Sorry I disagree
Kyrie, Rose, Lebron, Steph, Crawford, CP3, Harden, Durant, Parker, Paul George are all different, Lilliard, Melo. They even managed to get some of the rookies pretty accurate with Ben Simmons and Kris Dunn. I don't think you are giving the dribble improvements their proper Respeck.
This year blows any dribbling system created in any basketball game. Not only are they signature they actually explode correctly without some artificial boost and are pretty much hitch free.Comment

I haven't figured out how to do signature moves myself, but the CPU kills me with moves that look pretty signature to me.Shout out to The Watcher! Where you at bruh?Comment

Re: what happened to dribbling?
Three things that are bothering me about the new dribbling system:
1) A stationary hesitation into a spin move is no longer a fast and fluid combo that propels your player forward. The spin move always comes out super slow if you do it after a hesi from a stationary position. But if you do the hesi into spin combo while on the run, it works like it did in 2K16 and it's still a very good move to use.
2) The input command for a right to left double crossover while on the run is completely backwards now. You have to tap right, right to do it this year while you're running. The button command should be right, left like it was in 2K16.
3) Forcing people to buy dribble moves with virtual currency (they were all free last year) without giving us a way to test out the moves beforehand is BS.
Aside from those issues, I like all the other changes that Visual Concepts made this year. The fatigue meter is a very welcome addition, though I wonder what will happen once all these shot creators get their grand master Tireless Scorer badge and people are able to upgrade their stamina rating (it's stuck at the default number for everyone right now due to a bug that has made all practice attribute bonuses temporary instead of permanent).
3. I agree completely. 2k should slow down on this VC stuff. Bad enough that NBA players have to save a month's salary to afford an armband, but now this? When I saw that in the prelude it was enough to make me reconsider purchasing the game.
I like the dribble changes though. It is inserting skill back into the game. I'm more of a casual 2k player so this change will negatively affect me, but it is good that users can no longer equip "Crawford in and out escape" and press one button in game to lose the defender.
As far as losing the individual sig moves, they weren't lost. They are still in the game. Whereas last year it was a single command, this year you now have to manually pull of the move. If the AI players have the tendency or coding to do certain moves then we should still see AI Kyrie looking like Kyrie.
This year I may now have to play as a big now, but it is a good change. Now we see how many people who claimed to be beasts on the sticks are actually that, or did they just watch a youtube video that told them which moves to equip.Comment

Re: what happened to dribbling?
I dont know if people realize...If you go into edit player you can see that there are still a ton of sig size ups to choose from...more than 2K16...
You just cant tap in one direction and have an animation play out this year...
Only been 3 days man....it's just new
at the same time, 2k could be a LOT better in explaining how they work....the 2KU explanation is just....lolLast edited by The 24th Letter; 09-19-2016, 01:49 PM.Comment

Re: what happened to dribbling?
I pushed for auto size ups to be removed, so I dig that, but I don't think I've strung together any real signature moves yet. I know they're there because CPU Irving cut me up several times looking like himself.
Aside from the absolute only pro stick shooting, my only complaint is that 2K doesn't provide much documentation. Having to go online & print the basic controls shouldn't be necessary. And I doubt they provide signature size up controls at all.Shout out to The Watcher! Where you at bruh?Comment

Re: what happened to dribbling?
Classic case of people disliking a new system just because it's new and they're not familiar with it.
Just work with it and you'll be breaking ankles in no time, trust me. I'm awful on the sticks and can break people down easily this year.
Here is a tutorial if you're having trouble:

Re: what happened to dribbling?
I got Jamal Crawford doing the one where he dribbles while doing the running man (that's as good as I can describe it), but can't recreate it. Shame, it looked awesome.Comment

Re: what happened to dribbling?
What input are you using to trigger a stepback? Having a hard time getting consistent stepbacks. Been seeing some videos of people doing quick stepback jumpers and having a hard time replicating it.PSN: PrettyToneyComment
