The game is so perplexing. It looks and plays beautifully but then it all breaks down with the defensive quirks. It's the best game I've ever played that's virtually unplayable.

I wish they'd stop being so stubborn and take it back to 2k3 where LT was defensive stance and you are in a free run state unless you press that button. Right now there are all these automatic defensive stance prompts that you can only cancel out with Turbo.

Go into player lock or My Career and just walk from baseline to baseline in transition on D.

Ahhh, yes. I know what you mean. Thanks for the clarification, sir.

The PC version this year has the smoothest controls I have ever experienced in a sports game. Incredibly smooth.

The bad defense is baffling. This is the worst I've ever seen it. Sliders don't even seem to work - every team will shoot 55% or higher (mostly higher.)

You can load up the 76ers vs. Cavs right now, and the score will be 62-61 at the half.

I'm not confident that a patch can fix this mess.

Damn. I guess that means I have to buy it again. I am going to wait for a patch however. Thanks for letting us know, sir.

This is, BY FAR, the most annoying thing I've ever encountered in a sports video game. Not even juking Bo Jackson in Tecmo Bowl was more annoying.

There's just absolutely no reason for this to be in the game. I've been burned on so many plays because my guy is Square dancing around out there that it's mind boggling.

If they got rid of this and this alone I'd reenact this:

                  Spoiler

I can play through most of this stuff and just pretend "Hey my guy just did something stupid, it happens" but THIS is impossible to write off because nobody in NBA history has ran back on defense half spinning around over and over again.

Just wanna say thanks to those posting videos to demonstrate all of the flaws. While there are clearly a passionate subset of users who agree the game is unplayable with these issues, I unfortunately fear that the mass audience simply doesn't care about this stuff and 2k is just gonna maximize profit and ignore that their game is as far as from a sim as possible. It's not just the defensive AI; as others have said, the entire game is flash over substance. Every mode is littered with flaws that are at best a sign of apathy or rushed development and at worst complete and utter incompetence.

i agree, but you can't really blame them - they wanna sell copies and they know that the majority of their audience in high schoolers and the like that love the my park slam dunk aspect.

the sim aspect is slowly making progress though, it's just that a lot of us wish they would focus on that and the simple fundamentals of basketball before introducing new things and worrying about shoes and headbands.

All my 2k peeps have been radio silent since release. I haven't heard anything.

This game should get re-reviewed. It doesn't deserve a 9 and it's fooling anyone who buys the game because of the score and the content in the review. Maybe that'd shame 2k into fixing this.

I completely agree. As is, I no longer trust any site, OS included, that is giving this 9s and up. No credibility whatsoever.

let's slow down guys. if 2k fixes this, it will be all good. if they don't, or even ACKNOWLEDGE it, well then ish... never again.

i understand the frustration though, and i'm in the same boat.
