Offline can be different, you start out at a higher overall and you earn a currency that is only available for offline mode. You can still purchase for offline if you wish but the variables could be adjusted so that you can play offline at a respectful level and grind up your character at a faster rate.
Honestly, they just need to adjust the in-game economy, and make player progression realistic. They could even make it goal-based, as someone suggested earlier, and remove VC completely from the attribute side of things.

If you shoot around in the practice gym, hitting 100 threes could give you a +1 to your 3pt rating, for example. Hitting 100 threes in actual games gives you a +5 to that rating. That way you're rewarded in a realistic way for your own play style and putting time in, and the currency you earn from the games can go towards buying accessories, clothing, shoes, etc. You know, like in real life.

The idea of removing VC is laughable. It'll never happen. Too much profit for 2k. Microtransactions are far too successful in gaming these days.

      What should happen is:
      • Remove the 'bucket' system with attributes
      • Allow players to max players out when playing single player, limit them to archetype cap when playing online

What I'd love to happen is the removal of archetypes all together. I hate the concept in every way.

The idea of removing VC is laughable, but I am hoping that this discussion will at least force devs to consider a different way of letting us progress in the game modes and not make them so VC dependant.

Will never happen. When VC is tied to attributes then people will pay to get that VC to improve their characters. They will also recreate new characters and use VC again to increase their characters.

What you are proposing and asking is that Take-Two or whoever is in charge to not let a big bulk of their VC sales be applicable anymore. They would get fired asap.

Rather than think of VC from your own perspective and what makes the game better for you, you need to look at it more with a business sense, why would a company take a huge financial hit to accommodate a small minority of people who still buy the game anyway? Don't buy the game if you want to make a stand, it's simple economics.

Again, the arguments that they try and 'force' you to buy VC is laughable as you have the options to not touch it. Yes it means you put more effort in and have to work harder but again, you are not 'forced'. If anyone thinks so then you need to check the definition of the word forced.

You honestly think that the opinion of 1,000 people who don't even pay for VC will change their mind compared to the 100,000's of people who do still buy VC and are not bothered by it or have adapted to it.

Making the ability of creating your MyPlayer about hard work and over time is against the argument for VC in the first place. People moaned about not having the time to get the required amount of VC but will have the time to grind each individual attribute?

I remember when you didn't have to pay for accessories, animations and shoes. God things were so much simpler pre-2K13.

No corny cutscenes and storylines. Just Play your games, upgrade your attributes and that's it.

Oh and I don't have a problem with VC in general but 2K capping your stats out at 94 and forcing you to pay VC for the extra +5 to max them out to 99 is one of the greediest things I've seen them do.

The developers have no say regarding financial strategy. The developers would probably do whatever we want to make the best and most enjoying game possible, but they need to adhere to the big bosses.

2K developed a cash cow. And sorry to say this to you guys that are so hurt over VC, but they will NEVER regress from this model unless the market dictates that they are charging too much. If people continue to pour massive amounts of money on VC, then in actuality they are UNDER charging. I know most people on here will call me crazy, but that is based on their emotions, and not how markets work.

Once the money dries up because people are fed up and refuse to buy, it will cause them to reevaluate the market and reduce their price. But I'm enjoying this thread though, so continue on...lol

It's not about having to put in time to get VC, it's about the awful in-game economy. If your player started out at a reasonable skill level, and/or things like a headband didn't cost an exorbitant amount of VC, I don't think anyone would really have an issue with it. People would still spend money on VC if they don't want to put the time in, but those people who don't buy VC wouldn't be forced to choose between a calf sleeve or giving your player the ability to outrun a slug.

No one is forced to buy VC, but the game absolutely encourages it. You cannot deny that fact. Earning VC is an arduous process, so much so that people are actively finding ways to farm VC, or grind to get enough to enjoy the mode. In many cases, once 2k learns of the various farming methods, they either eliminate them altogether, or limit how much you can get from that method. That alone should tell you that they want you to buy VC, just to avoid the annoyance of having to grind for it.

Obviously they're not going to change anything as long as people keep buying it. That doesn't make any less frustrating for us and it doesn't make 2k any less greedy for increasing in-game costs and lowering the amount of VC earned for various things.

Really guys... much appreciated. I spent like 2 hours slaving over a text and nobody has anything to say, add or any feedback whatsoever. Really cool stuff. Instead we regressed to

"Your petition won't matter cause it makes too much money"

"Yeah but it's a ****ty business model"

"Yeah but it's a cash cow"

"Yeah but they could just adjust it a bit too make it less greedy and ****ty"

"Will never happen because they make too much money"

                  "Yeah but... [insert stuff here]"

                  "Won't matter cause it's a cash cow"

                  [to be continued]

Seriously guys... what's the point now? Either we do something, anything, for our personal peace of mind or we don't. By the looks of it you rather discuss why they should change it to death with guys like x_NBA_x who will state their opinion to death. Not that his opinion is necessarily wrong but it leads to absolutely nothing in the end but to drag the discussion to a deadlock which will mean the thread will be closed. In my mind we should use it more productively. All of you who agree on the VC issue with the likes of me: read the draft, comment, criticise, tell me stuff to add or get cracking to get me the prices of the MyPark and ProAm stuff and other nonsense. I'll post this petition tomorrow afternoon once it's done with your feedback and then it's in your hands how much attention and signatures it gets as it depends on you guys to spread the word across social media and forums... tbh I think with 10.000 signatures we could probably get a response since that's a significant number, even among 8 mio sales.

I definitely see your point. Instead of a petition, why don't you organize a boycott? Why beg and plead for a company to take less money voluntarily because you don't agree. if 10,000 or more boycott VC (like I do actually lol) it will make more of an impact than petitioning.

Speak with actions. Everyone is upset because when they go into MyPark, players are already rate in the 80's and 90's from day 1. Thats the market! Those people obviously purchased VC so that's who you are fighting against. Apparently, they didn't have any problem doing so.

Personally, I refuse to buy VC. I don't agree with the concept of VC, so I don't buy it. I'm still mad at my 107,000 VC that was left in 2K16. But I understand the concept, and as a business owner respect the hustle. But not all will agree. And I'm fine with that. I respect the other opinions.

Because I assume everyone who signs this petition boycotts it already? And what on earth would a boycott mean? A bunch of anonymous guys don't buy VC... well great so they lose a market share they never had. A petition gives voice to the problem, it explains the problem and it is something that can be shared via social media and might get publicity instead of saying "Yo dude, don't be buying no VC from those guys, aight?" to random dudes on the internet.

Honestly I don't care. Keep stewing in your own sauce in here for all I care. Until tomorrow at 3PM CET I will take feedback and suggestions on the petition, after that it is going live and I will share it via social media. If you guys wanna keep squabbling over petty rubbish that we have been over and over and over with a fine tooth comb... go on. I'll post my petition and then i'm outta here and I won't feel bad because at least I did something instead of lamenting on a forum about it.
