If taking into account help defense, then sharpshooters/stretch bigs for sure. You'd be surprised at the IQ of randoms when you're guarding a stretch big or sharpshooter and they continually run off screens but instead of helping over the screen to prevent the same exact near halfcourt 3 from happening, they end up playing under and you pay for it.

If we're talking one on one without the use of screens/help defense, then it's a bit more easy because one on one they typically aren't that hard to stay with. I'd say post scorers/slashers overall. The thing with those playtypes is that if you have the right person playing with those archetypes, they have the moves that can make you think they're going one way then go another and get the score. Those are the hard ones to guard because you have to be disciplined on defense and not act on instinct by jumping up at anything coming to the rim.

Re: in your opinion, which archtype is the hardest to guard?

I have an athletic finishing centre, feels like he dominates most archetypes, except when I go up against a good glass cleaner. I can handle glass cleaners that are average at the position, but a good one can box me out and take all the boards off me. I can dunk on their head in frustration though, which is probably more satisfying anyway. He was designed for park more than pro-am.

My playmaking PG struggles against shot creators. He is only 5'10", my real height, so when they are doing Jordan/kobe like fadeaways my PG has no chance. Funny thing is though, most 2K players are too stupid to take my little PG down low, they keep trying to drive around him ...lol, he is super quick.... you only drive around me if I hesitate or make a misread.
He struggled against sharp shooters when the game first came out, fadeaway half court shots and garbage like that.... you can't guard that nonsense.

As a Lockdown defender, I think playmakers are the hardest to guard.

As a sharpshooter, im telling u that shot creators and playmakers are just deadly to guard. You can sag off a playmaker but shot creators will wreck u if u dont hug them 24/7

Good playmakers. If they get hot it's very hard to stop them. Sharpshooters don't bother me that much. You just can't use turbo that much while defending them or you'll get that quicksand animation crap. Just stay close to them and overplay a tad. Force them to be drivers/midrange shooters.

As soon as they let go of the left stick - it doesn't count as shooting off the dribble (from what I've heard, at least), so they can get a ton of easy shots like this.

Someone else mentioned it, but they should make it so if you had just finished running in the past 0.5 to 1 sec - it should still count as shooting off dribble.
This exact thought for me, they can literally play like a shot creator by doing the left/right, right/left then that little step back that the cpu does all the time and within doing it they can drain it like they are doing a set shot.

That's good advice, what Archetype are you, though? Cuz doing that is way harder than it sounds... I can't let them breathe even for a second, which isn't something I have to do for other Archetypes.

As a Point Forward SF, I probably should be good at dribbling, but I struggle with it.. If I screw up my ankle breaking moves in Pro-Am, I'm gonna get a TO.

Is this a case of - if I master dribbling, it'll pay off eventually vs Sharp Shooter just being easy from the start, but limited in the long run?

It does kind of suck that being a Sharp Shooter is so easy to use, yet so difficult to guard (for me, anyway).

Sharpshooters and it's mainly because of the silly screens on this game.

Straight up, they aren't hard to guard at all. But with the not as responsive offball D and getting caught or hit with screens and also losing a lot of stamina from moving around and hitting screens. They are the hardest and most annoying to guard. Still don't understand why we lose so much stamina on defense.

Playmaker/shot creators , ankle breaker isn't nullified by HOF defensive Stopper and speed boosting. Give me a stretch big or slasher any day, but playmakers and shot creators...

The off ball fatigue and on ball fatigue while using intense D is absurdly deveststing on your stamina. This plays into their favor all the more. There are times my guy almost faints as he attempts to close out because he's stamina is on E...

The stamina / fatigue rate on defense being tuned to be less severe would play a huge factor in playing better defense more consistently.

I agree. I wish they could tune the defensive fatigue it's sad how fast you lose stamina and mines is in the 90s. And don't get hit by the constant screens you'll be in the red almost after 3 screens. One of the main reasons I hate playing defense as a PG because every possession you're getting screened by at least 1 person illegally.

                                Question for Glass Cleaners:

How well do you rebound against LDDs and bigmen in general? I have a 6'11 Glass Cleaner friend that struggles rebounding against Bigger players, yet I see LDD magnetize rebounds all day.

Curious if its just my friend or if Glass Cleaners aren't actually the best rebounders.
