Re: NBA 2k18 - Another VC grind fest?
This is what youre missing. There are two main problems. Most players are online and do not want to play against lame AI, so grinding in MyCareer is off the table, luckily they fixed that. The other problem is that as they lock more stuff behind VC and increase the cost, it gives less time to the online gamer to be competitive and to explore different options. In 2K, I can get one character to a decent overall, maybe two. That is not fun. 2K limits me experiencing the different builds significantly. It is a poor system and obvious to see with those who have their eyes open.51 & 55

This wouldn't even be a problem if skill really mattered. But it doesn't. You can't win with a 55. I spend enough time literally grinding irl (I wanna play pro ball) I don't wanna grind on 2k. And it's not even like it's fun, it's monotonous.

It's not like it takes years to upgrade your player by not buying VC. Most MMO type structured games, you have to grind to upgrade. This is something new to sports gamers but not to everyone else.
This year I'm going to grind my MyPlayer just to prove a point. I have a whole year.

Re: NBA 2k18 - Another VC grind fest?
I don't really have a problem grinding for VC. I mean it is a video game right. However, my issue with last years version was when you get to a certain point, they cap off your attributes and take away your putting in work meter. My guy last year got to 93 after a lot of work I put in however once that meter was gone and I reached my cap it was like what else do I play for ya know.Comment

And this is apartcif problem. Not wanting to grind kind of defeats the purpose of being anti-VC. We should all be grinding.

Re: NBA 2k18 - Another VC grind fest?
its funny man, if i were to go into legends thread or myleague thread and say "who cares about realistic legends, who cares about releastics stats or a sim experience or audio experience" (i dont feel that way at all lol) i would be chased out of there so fast..
but if there is a part of the community that is displeased with a certain mode - why arent they allowed to express it just the
same?
even if you see it as annoying - dont read it?..
it doesnt make us kids or immature that we're upset with something but what i do agree with is we either have to do something about it? or say "hey OS bros im just venting"

Gosens6 doesn't play this mode, yet he somehow understands what our gripes are and why each new release gets more irritating.
Not sure why it's this hard for the others to grasp.
They could make it so that it takes you 11 months to get to an 80, make players cost 1 million VC to get there, charge 50k for haircuts, 5k for dribble moves, and I'm pretty sure we'd see the same recycled arguments. "But you can earn 100 VC in the app! And you can get 100 VC by watching 2kTV! And you can get VC by playing other modes!"Last edited by ph33; 09-11-2017, 01:59 PM.Comment

Re: NBA 2k18 - Another VC grind fest?
The thing is, it doesn't take that long to get a competent competitive player that you can win with, and you don't have to play against 86's+ if you don't want to.
Everyone acts like you're stuck with 4 archetypes you have to get to 99.
It literally takes a week to get into the 70's from a 55.
It shows you the level of those on the court and off the court around you. If you don't want to play a 86 or a 93 you don't have to. You can walk off the court anytime you want and you can choose which court you want to walk on.
There are new people starting new archetypes every day, which spreads out the level of competition.Comment

Re: NBA 2k18 - Another VC grind fest?
This thread is dead. Everyone is angry and arguing. Either someone is going to take action or we are going to sit here fighting. This happens every year with 2k.
I'm close to abandoning videogames as a whole. I'm older now and they just don't entertain me as much.
Games are supposed to be an escape from politics and disagreements.
This game and Madden are two most toxic communities and companies out there.

Last checked, none of what you said is the case. Do we even legit know what caps are or what each thing cost? And what is your opinion on what a dunk package or upgrading your player to an 80 or elite dribble moves should cost (again in virtual currency which is earned in almost everything you do in the game)? Just curious.

The thing that I hate is the 2k apologists. I saw a mf defending 2k charging for haircuts by saying "You have to pay for irl haircuts, they're just making the game more realistic."

Re: NBA 2k18 - Another VC grind fest?
I just know personally I feel like I HAVE to purchase VC and that's what I don't like.
I don't have the time to enjoy, key word enjoy and not play, the game and grind.
I have enough time to grind as many players as I want but it becomes unenjoyable. So to enjoy the game I need to buy VC.
That shouldn't be.
Because it's enough of a time consumer to play and grind badges. Let's not talk about loading screens being way too long still...hopefully they fixed that.
But if I purchase I guy to an 80 overall. I can max him with VC I earn while I grind his badges.
But I only grind badges to stay competitive online.
So if I didn't buy that VC...I might have badges but I'll be a 76 or something overall...meanwhile dudes who DID buy the VC are online as 88s and hall of fame badged out.
This is where 2k gets people like me..I have a life outside of 2k..but to enjoy the experience and also remain competitive especially in pro am my friends and myself purchase VC to expedite the annoyance period of grinding offline.

Re: NBA 2k18 - Another VC grind fest?
Which is why I'd honestly feel better without VC at all.
If you put in the time or work you get your overall, no speeding it up. Everyone's on the same level and if you put in time and work you get your badges and overall.
But they make way too much money off it..so it is what it is and we just gotta hope they don't overprice things...which is starting to look like what's happening..
Accessories have always been overpriced like crazy...and having to buy different colors of the same one? That's horrible.
