Re: NBA 2k18 - Another VC grind fest?
And this is where I have an issue..I can understand having a few special or unique items as unlockables purchased with VC (i.e. 1970's Dr.J or Jimmy Butler hairstyle, James Harden's beard shape,etc.).
I can understand having an option to pay some VC to change your hair/beard style within My Career itself...maybe you got tired of your look or want to do something special for the playoffs...cool.
However, when you apparently hide a large amount of basic Create A Player content which traditionally has been free behind a paywall right from the get go, that is not cool at all.It comes off as greedy and they deserve to be called out on it.
Its crazy that something as simple as that still manage to go over some of these dudes heads and the only counter this point is met is "then dont buy it etc"

Re: NBA 2k18 - Another VC grind fest?
Aside from your MyPlayer being light years more mobile after creation this year (even a Center can start out with the accel/speed/lateral quickness of a PG), a suggestion to take advantage of that and advantage of VC earned would be to let overall be a second priority.
If you're a perimeter player, focus on quickness/handles. Even with low attributes in every other category the online defender will have to defend you with respect since speed kills in 2k (even if you're under the basket/layup is a 25 attribute, if you're in the right position you'll finish >50%fg by coding). You can be an offensive threat on pure mobility
If you're a paint protector, use all your earnings on blocking/lateral quickness and you'll be threatening at the rim based on those skills alone.
Overall is the goal with the Road to 99 but pure OVR doesn't have to decide the outcome, use what you know will be effective to help facilitate the desired result.Last edited by MoodMuzik; 09-12-2017, 05:04 PM.Comment

The question is why are you spending VC on this stuff in the first place?

Re: NBA 2k18 - Another VC grind fest?
It boils down to noticing a trend. We "dissenters", for lack of a better term, are seeing the road 2K is going down.
It may not be an issue now, but left unchecked VC will encroach and bury it roots in a way that you cant enjoy the game unless you are spending untold amounts of VC. Where essentially choosing whether or not to spend is no longer an option
So you either voice your displeasure with the way its going now before its too late, or by the time 2K20 comes out, its a lost cause.
Sure you can choose not to buy it, or go to Live but that takes me back to the top, we all are here because we actually like 2KLast edited by JUSTlFIED; 09-13-2017, 12:24 PM.Comment

Re: NBA 2k18 - Another VC grind fest?
I had to make an account just to chime in on this...
I have been playing 2k since 2k10 in any legit manner. Love mycareer and have been playing online since 2k15...
I am a VC "dissenter"and I am actually not purchasing this game on release and if I do buy it it will be used and no vc purchase.
I wanted to tackle the argument of "Well you don't have to buy VC... just play the game".
There is 2 holes in this argument... one is the amount of time it takes and two the game design and how often it changes especially in 2k...
Let's say in 2k17 I followed this logic and bought no VC... I make a sharpshooter and I start out at 55 OVR (In 2k10-13 you would start at 70ish overall... the game over time is designed in a way to make you feel like VC is a way more desirable option)
I grind 200 hours??(I have never done a normal grind to 86 overall...) (48 mins quarters superstar difficulty, 2 seasons fully played. focus on maximizing on vc first and ignoring practice if necessary.)(end level attributes cost 1000's of VC) and i get to a very high overall...
I earned everything! 3 patches later... my sharpshooter got nerfed and my build is less effective than before (Hey design oversight... it happens)
Do I make a new person and grind 200 hours or however long... or buy vc and grind for like 3 days and be at the same spot???...
And that's if my initial build was good... Y'all tripping.Comment

The game itself can change after patches, or you might plain make a mistake and accidentally buy an attribute you didn't mean to; to be expected to either"deal with it" or go through the grind again is poor form.
Now, I'm not expecting to be allowed to change height, weight, position and every single attribute for free after every game. I do think paying 5 or even 10k VC to be able to edit attributes once in a while would be both a good quality of life feature, and an appropriate incentive to grind/save up/buy some amount of VC.Last edited by MrWrestling3; 09-14-2017, 10:20 AM.Comment

I have been saying something similar for a while; there needs to be a way to "reset" your guy without having to grind him all the back up.

Good examples... short wingspan to max wingspan by the end, everyone can shoot corner threes...
I'm not anti microtransactions, but... we had access to all the hair 12 months ago... among other hilarious changes over the last 3 years. =/Comment

Oh my...I can't even see my hair or beard style before I purchase it. SMH!Comment

Re: NBA 2k18 - Another VC grind fest?
Of course, microtransactions is the way to go nowadays (not only 2K), and they made companies earn more money than sales themselves. For instance, Call Of Duty with their infamous supply drops that were even included on a remastered edition of a game released almost a decade ago. This "microtransaction bubble" might explode sooner than later...Comment

He didnt. He just said that rpg/mmo based games has a way to allow you to reset your attributes and since 2k is pretending to go that route, they should have a similar system but hey VC >>>>>>>>> *
