The fact that 2K have tied clothing/shoes etc 2 your overall rating being an 85 is like the NBA telling rookies if u aren't an All Star caliber player u can't wear certain Jordan/Nike shoes/clothing and charging 1000 VC for haircuts with no preview is crazy! If 2K weren't so greedy, u could wear equip whatever shoes/clothing/accessories from the jump just like real NBA players can.

Even the MyNBA2k app makes u sign in everyday where as previous years the app stayed logged in, its like 2K tries 2 deter people from getting free VC.

By no mean am I saying EA or Sony Interactive is a better company, but at least in Madden, for my single player CFM, I don't have to "pay" for my player's equipment. In MLB The Show, I don't have to "pay" to change my player's hairstyle. Having to pay VC for a hairstyle, or even on-court stuff like headband / sleeves / wrist band ... etc, which I never understand in the first place, I just see 2K Sports being more and more greedy each year.
This is a large part of the issue myself and others have, online and offline modes being tied together.

Personally, I enjoy basketball. I enjoy the challenge of making a character and building it up from nothing.I am also very introverted and anti social(long story short: bad childhood/life experiences caused issues).Due to this, I don't enjoy online gaming or online gaming culture.

My experience now is dealing with each year the difficulty being ramped up along with odd gameplay changes, seemingly for the sake of modes I have nothing to do with and an increasingly aggressive effort to squeeze a few extra dollars out of me.

Honestly, it is getting to a point where the return is no longer worth the investment of time that is required for something that I will have to repeat every year.

Exactly. It was borderline before but now they went too far imho.

Oh, and I have enough of YouTuber's kissing 2K's ***. Someone should say something. Someone should say enough is enough. But they probably give them a few 100k vouchers anyway or get paid by them. So why should they complain.

This is what gets me. It takes roughly 100-150 hours (or $50 ie almost the sticker price of the game) just to get to 85 with one player. That's without taking into account things like unskippable cutscenes, load times, badge upgrades or buying accessories. I can't be the only one that thinks that's a bit long in the tooth. I mean 2k is the only game I play for longer than 100 hours but that's simply because I play it year round. Most games nowadays last what 10 to 50 hours tops. So what happens when a patche nerfs a build or you regret your build half way through? Are you supposed to just shrug your shoulders and move on from the fact that 100+ hours just went down the drain?

I'm simply saying that I just can't go through the grind year in year out.

What I really want to know is how much VC does it take to get to 99.

Have played only 1 game since I bought it because I am paralyzed with fear that my build won't work or get nerfed. IDK if I can even grind one character up, if I had to do a 2nd I would drop the game instead of going for round 2. 2K forced it

I feel that this is intentional to get people to buy VC. People are willing to grind their first player. When it comes to their second, third, fourth etc that's when the idea of buying VC becomes more and more appealing.

The grind is bad enough as it is. I don't know if you noticed this or if it happens in your games, but 2k takes vc away from me after games. Like a huge portion for example i started out with 2235 vc and earned 900 after beating the Pacers and got 3135. After it brings me back to the neighborhood i go to upgrade my player and it says that my vc balance was 2435 meaning after playing their broken game and grinding they took 700 vc from me. Its NO DOUBT they want you to spend vc.

As someone coming from 2k16, the requirement for VC in every aspect of 2k18 is absolutely ridiculous. I will never buy VC, so if this trend continues year after year, I definitely won't be buying it every year just to start the tedious grind again (I dread even thinking about creating a second player in 2k18), and may even stop playing altogether. The game has gone from being fun to being a chore.

Re: NBA 2k18 - Another VC grind fest?

Yup, it's worse than ever. They give you less VC for free, they charge you more for ANYTHING, even haircuts! If you want to play pure online modes, you're basically forced to buy VC in order to be competitive. Heck, even for MyCareer you are forced to do so, because they don't give X multiplier for higher difficulties until you're a 92 overall (basically, when you don't need it anymore). It's frustrating, and it might make me stop playing MyCareer and stop buying 2k altogether. This would be acceptable in a FTP game, but this is a 60$ triple-A game; they basically force you to pay 100+ to be able to enjoy the game. But yes, they would tell you you can still do it by grinding... but they even made that harder and longer.

And we haven't even seen any patches yet. When those come, we'll see big big meltdowns

That's a good way to put it, it's starting to feel more like a job than a game.I play games to relax, not to feel like I am at work.

If that was the experience I was looking for, I would pick up more hours at my RL job(or get a second job)....at least I'd learn some useful RL skills and be paid in currency I actually value for my frustrations.

Wait a minute... did I just read by two different members, that being a 60ovr starting, as opposed to a 55 overall, isn't a valid argument because its not the same as CAPS?

Wait so... say if 2k19 has us starting BACK as a 55 overall, as opposed to a 60 overall such as this year, 2k can just say, "it's not valid for you to be upset over this because it's not the same as CAPs?" You're telling me that would fly with the community (and there wouldn't be rage threads and pages up in pages a out that here on OS) but the opposite doesn't fly?? Oh c'mon now.

The more I play the more I realize I need to buy VC to have a capable player. It's just sad. I don't mind buying but not knowing what stats your player will have is just crazy.

it doesn't matter with what overall you start, what matters is how much you have to pay for upgrading. and it becomes more and more with every year.

So going back to a 55 legitimately wouldn't bother you?

Or would you rather start as a 60 like this year? Answer seems pretty obvious to me as a lot of quotes are "you're a 55 garbage player" oh hey actually this year you're a very capable and mobile 60 overall player (but that doesn't get ANY recognition, no one owns up to being incorrect...AF... about that and their pre-judgment about that) no threads appreciating that change when it was emphatically assumed you were 5 levels below that, and that being a major issue to most).

                              Easy question.

But nobody likes to answer truthfully without a followup narrative

Just like "servers are garbage will never hold up" *servers hold up just fine* *no thread of how great the servers are instead just constant thread making negativity*.

How will they know what we dislike you ask? How will they know what we DO like, i ask.

again, it doesn't matter what you are starting with. if you start with 55, but you have to pay 150k to reach 85, then it's probably better than to start with a 60 overall, while paying 200k vc to reach 85 and also being urged to pay vc for things like hairdos and facial hair.

it's just an example and i don't know the exact numbers, but you should get the idea what i'm talking about.
