Or would you rather start as a 60 like this year? Answer seems pretty obvious to me as a lot of quotes are "you're a 55 garbage player" oh hey actually this year you're a very capable and mobile 60 overall player (but that doesn't get ANY recognition, no one owns up to being incorrect...AF... about that and their pre-judgment about that) no threads appreciating that change when it was emphatically assumed you were 5 levels below that, and that being a major issue to most).

    Easy question.

But nobody likes to answer truthfully without a followup narrative

Just like "servers are garbage will never hold up" *servers hold up just fine* *no thread of how great the servers are instead just constant thread making negativity*.

How will they know what we dislike you ask? How will they know what we DO like, i ask.

You are the type of guy that applauds the waiter when he brings you a bottle of water huh?
Man the servers ARE SUPPOSED TO WORK. Why would we talk about how great they supposedly are (the game has been out for a couple of days) when 2k has a history of having ****ty *** servers.

Oh wait...people are having their players vanished into the thin air of the 2k space so no their servers are not on point yet.

And as a 60 rated player, you are garbage plain and simple. Sure you can do some nice things on the court but at the end of the day, your player suck.
And it costs a grip just to have him at a decent level.

Um... is a server NOT supposed to being you water? Because.. I've has those that don't and that's definitely a plus in my book when they do unasked.

Show me a company with perfect servers... and I'll show you a blog with pages of people sh****** on their servers. Are we acting like 2k's servers are the worst?

"It costs a grip to be a decent level" you said it yourself, the game has only been out a couple of days, are you expecting to be otherworldly or are you planning on playing past a week?

But again, say 2k started you as a 90 overall... is that different? Because if we go forward to an athletic 60, then backward to a 55 sloth mammoth, that is no different. But forward to a 90 would make a difference Yeah? So there IS a point towards starting levels higher isn't there?

I have to say though, my favorite part of all of this... is that 2k set the preface of all of it. They legitimately said, "choose your archetype carefully as you will not get the cha ce to change it" then the public outcry of "I can't change it, VC grab, money plot thickens, etc." Like.... they... f****** TOLD YOU TO MAKE A CAREFULLY CALCULATED DECISION lol 'nah I skipped that part wtf man'

I refunded the game on Steam and will wait for a deep sale and buy it for the PS4. Maybe when the Legend Edition with the 100k VC costs 50-60 bucks like the Standard now I will get it.

Which is still BS on their part because you never know what they will nerf next and you might end up with an archetype that was great when the game came out but that you don't like now after X amount of patches. You should at least be able to DELETE your MyPlayer and start from scratch but get the VC you spend on him back, or at least like 80% or something. Imho this would even improve the time some people play the game (I know it would in my case) because you could try out new archetypes and what not. As it is I would never make a second character because the grind is just insane. But this isn't worth the discussion because VC == $$$ and that is never going to happen.

Stop deflecting my man. Its not healthy. Its not about other companies we are talking about 2k.

But yeah i could give you a list of other games that handle online playing better but that is not the point.

And like i said, people who paid for this game for vc had their players vanish into the shadow realms of the 2k space.

I dont buy vc and i certainly dont mind the grind but i feel the ones who do and who feel like 2k is literally trying to force people hand to buy vc.

In MyCareer i signed a shoe deal with Jordan but guess what, unless it unlocks later on, (which would be pointless) i still have to spend vc on some damn virtual shoes.

Haircuts costs 2k at the most and for those who pre ordered the game, the jersey and shaq shoes are only available for your first save, which mean that if you want them again, you'd have to BUY them.

And stop moving the damn goalpost.

Well in earlier 2k games it use to be that if you went to the gym and did the reaction exercise, vertical exercise, etc. it would increase your attributes in the respective areas like +2 in vertical or +1 in strength now it just increases your progress to a cap increase by a very small percentage. It used to help with the attributes and cut down on the vc you needed to max out.

Wow the shoe deal amazes me that u don't get access to all the brands shoes, and the preordered Shaq gear should carry over to every save! I was assuming like last year anything we buy carries over to any save under your PSN now I'm not so sure.

2K's greed has really turned a lot of people off MyCareer this year, the story is almost non existent, the characters are terrible and VC is the only thing running the neighborhood.

So no bonus for playing higher difficulty, how about game length? Is salary per game same no matter what setting do I choose for quarter duration?

Playing Mycareer on Superstar and with 12 minute periods because I like to see realistic stats and now I wonder am I making my grind even slower?

Re: NBA 2k18 - Another VC grind fest?

I must agree, it seems as if 2k is trying to monetize all the modes associated with MyPlayer. Considering that (1) the difficulty multiplier has been removed, (2) no more VC given for accolades, (3) the amount of VC given for games is noticeably lower, and (4) items that can be purchased with VC cost more, the evidence is pretty compelling. All this makes the grind, in my opinion, overly arduous.

Kudos to the gentlemen that did the math, because it's absurd to have to play roughly 3 seasons worth of games to level your player to 85-86 OVR. Now, if this wasn't a yearly title, it would be understandable, but as many before me have mentioned, the juice simply isn't worth the squeeze if this has to be done every year with an increasingly difficult (and/or more costly) grind.

Logically it would seem that a less stringent VC system or year-to-year saves could help alleviate these issues.

It is safe (logical?) to say that there is no effort to alleviate these issues. Quite the opposite...

I came across this on youtube and considering the conversation/debate,I found it pretty interesting.

IMO he articulates the points made by all sides here pretty well.

Aye for real let's keep this thread up..2ks not gonna change how expensive it is to buy things or attributes, but it might make hairstyles previewable or at least get some more VC out of modes of the app.

Like I was saying before release, I had to buy $20 worth of VC just to enjoy the game.

I can't have fun playing online as a 64 overall.

I'm a 76 but I been busy all weekend since release. Work, my girl, etc.

Hopefully that jumpstart helps a little..but from what y'all been saying it'll still take a while to get to 85.

When I get off work I just wanna play and have fun but it seems like I gotta grind out some VC playing alone.

But nah honestly I think the worst part is like what if the build I made winds up sucking or not being good once he's an 85. Or he's not comparable to other ones...
