Was the Help defense and switch defense fixed? Players leaving their man to help on a drive, but leaving their man wide open for a 3. This is when the Help defense is turned off or No help.

They made so many changes that made me have to tweak my sliders and playstyle multiple times. Stuff was constantly tweaked. Patch to patch the game would slide too much in on direction or another, IMO.

I'm still very hesitant to pick up 2K18 before a few months have passed, just because I don't know what the game will be like after the first few patches hit. I'm hoping the game is much more stable and ready out of the box this year and they don't release nearly as many patches, but I can't bank on that in this day and age.

Still, the Forbes writeup was a nice look and I trust the guy's views. We'll see how it all pans out moving forward.
Yeah, they patched and tweaked it beyond recognition. Out of the box 2k17 was a very good game.

March 2017 version of 2k17 was unrecognisable.

They are, but they are much harder to get, and depend on a variety of factors (timing, how open you are, player ratings, where you are at on the court)

This has received attention. Check my write up on OS for a bit more info.

Here is the gist of it:

"There is some “artificial stupidity” (unofficial term!) in which lesser defenders may not be as useful in help defense situations. Of course, better defenders will be better helpers."

"I didn't have much of an issue with any of the models. If anything, guys like Dwyane Wade and Derrick Rose might have been a shade too skinny. Both men had more muscular shoulders. In NBA 2K18, they look a little thinner, but again, it's far from an eye sore in the game."

That makes me a little worried. It's time for 2k to show us D-Wade pic since Bulls have already show their new nike jersey.

Can you share more with us about atmosphere , did you feel any differences ?new chants etc..
                  2k18 fixes

Bigs can cover to much ground on defense(they are too fast)

Late contest on laups matter too much.

                  Random blocks doing pumpfakes.

Leaning shots for guys who have catch and shoot badge should be removed.

                    This.

At one point 17 felt like a different game every day, not in a good way.

Really wish they had gone with the suggestion Beluba liked earlier in the year-- making Greens only available when your player is "hot", so the game isn't about hunting greens except as "heat checks" when your player is really feeling it.

I like that idea. There's way too much focus on green lights.

I talked to him about this. It doesn't make sense that way, and he even admitted so in hindsight. Guys in real life can be cold ALL DAY and then hit a clutch shot to win a game. It happens. I love the way he explained it to me, and I love that it's being purposefully left a bit ambiguous publicly. You may not hear as much about it this year.

And they are much harder this year. Stars need to be aligned just right...

I can't find a link but Mazique, if I recall correctly, absolutely raved about 2K17 prior to release after this community day. I would not be surprised if he called it the best 2k ever, based on memory.

His twitter account is represented in MyGM/MyLeague. He has a relationship with 2K.

I don't rely on his takes. He's a good guy, I'm not doubting his integrity at all. I'm just not taking his judgment, especially after a couple of hours with a pre release version, as particularly meaningful.
