Re: LEGENDS Thread - NBA 2K18 & beyond: (Accessories, jerseys, sig styles etc)
The game needs more old-school reaction animations and emotions in general.
Team unity hugs for special occasions like title celebrations, series clinchers, making a huge play or avoiding elimination:
"Confrontations" (For players who loved to psyche-out their opponents):
Contextual emotions for special plays or missed chances (for players who can get hyped easily):
Bench/Camera fun (for characters):
Camaraderie (teammates and rivals):

Every year I get 2k and I decide what classic team I’ll use. One of my favorite things is watching games to get a feel for what plays teams ran or what moves players did. Last year I won the championship with the 91 Blazers decades after losing with same team on Tecmo NBA!
The varied matchups is what I miss most. I feel like team identities are kind of lost. Everyone plays according to stats. I definitely miss the big men. I’ve been on a Rony Seikaly kick lately just watching his post moves. I miss that stuff.

Indeed, watching genuine big men (even the non-superstars) was rewarding. The other day I watched the second to last regular season game from '91 between Atlanta and Detroit. Even with James Edwards out and Isiah just returning from injury, it was really fun to watch Konkak, Willis and Malone vs William Bedford (played the best game of his season) and Laimbeer in the first half and then vs Salley and Laimbeer in the second. It had a playoff atmosphere as both teams needed the win (Detroit to avoid playing the Sixers in the first round and Atlanta to avoid playing the Celtics).
Fun times!

Man this is all depressing as hell. I loved the era I grew up watching as well, but I've thoroughly been able to love and enjoy the game since also.. Some things I miss, some things I'm glad they've changed, either way I've always loved NBA basketball and still do.. It actually makes me sad when I hear people say they can't enjoy it anymore because I still feel that same joy watching games now as I do re-watching the games from my childhood.Comment

I watched highlights over the recent years but nothing ever drew me in, yet for example, last night I was watching the 1994 finals and was completely captivated.
Totally happy to accept I'm era bias and am probably likened to the old guy in every neighborhood who tells kids to get off his lawn. It is what it is. That's not me saying the NBA is 'bad' now, simply that I never got on board with its evolution or its next generation of superstars, not for want of trying.-----------------------------------------

A young Arvydas Sabonis is just too much fun to play with. Absolutely dominating the league and looking smooth doing it.

Playing the ECF against the Bulls in my 90's My League. Pulled off this dunk in Game 2.

The really killed the game when they swapped the default guard body type out with some super muscled up dude a couple years back.. didn’t effect too many current players but guys like BJ pictured here, Zeke, Kerr, Stockton, pretty much any retro guard got the default body change to look like body builders.

That will be one of the things that I hope they address on next gen graphically. Also, scanning accurate modern gear (upper & lower body) and giving use more retro gear options (elbow pad with gap in the middle ala Kevin Willis & Hakeem Olajuwon).

Yeah, even a more modern player like Tony Parker looks weird with the more cut, "veiny" looking body type.

In '93, B.J. did add more muscle to his frame, but those arms belong to Eddie Johnson and not him! Same goes for Tony Parker, he has never been out of shape, but his muscle definition has always been either subtle or normal.
Along with a couple of more muscle definition options (maybe go from: none, subtle, normal, athletic, ripped), what they really need to do is unlock the body editor the game already has and allow users to edit each players body as they wish.
PC body mods are constantly being released for individual players, so technically it's not something new. Just needs to be unlocked:
I've been asking for years for 2K to have a simple system like Pro Evolution Soccer (a feature the Saga has had since the PS2 era):

Was watching the real life 1993 ECF and decided to battle it out for myself (coincidence this relates to just a couple posts up)Comment
