If u type the retired player's name, then you can wear that number again, then go back and type the actual players name before you exit on the player's edit screen. That always works.

That's good to know. Didn't know that. I'll do it in a MyLeague or something but I was talking more about real life and also Mycareer and stuff where you can't edit.

Glad Kobe is cool with getting involved games like he is. 2K should have tried to get him to talk to Odom and Fisher about being in the game lol. Looking forward to hearing KG just as much as Kobe.

Fish is in. Part of why Odom won't be in is because of all the hookers and blow.

If this is any indication of how their full broadcasts will be, KG might be my new favorite analyst in 2k.

But like I said, it "could be" another year where there are way too many swishes/not enough rim interaction. "Could be".

My guess is, they have dev settings on that make it so every shot goes in perfectly for the purpose of the trailer. When MLB The Show releases hype videos, they make it so every homer hit is a 650+ foot moonshot for the purposes of the trailer. It's just a setting they enable, and I'd bet when it's on every shot swishes in.

And that vert well could be. But like I noted, last year it seemed like 75% of all shots were swishes (and 99% of banked shots/layups were all net), so I guess we'll see.

He wore 11 in high school. 1 at Duke cause 11 is retired. 11 was worn by Ilgauskas in Cleveland and retired shortly after Kyrie was drafted. He's always wanted to go back to 11, pretty sure.

Important to mention that nothing's new under the sun in the crowd-atmosphere (or rather lack thereof) department either, as the Staples Center's response to Kyrie's big shot felt very similar 2k17's rather miserable auditory reactions.

Obviously there will be repetition. It happens in every sports game.

Why would Lakers fans celebrate a Celtics player making a shot?

I think he would've stayed with #2 if it was available but I don't know. I said 10 because it looked better and he wore it in the Olympics but most likely was just to honor Kobe. 11 looks weird on him.

If I start a MyLeague, I'll definitely switch him back to #2 if it's still possible to do what the last dude said.

24 looked weird on Kobe too when he switched, but now it looks fine.

45 looked weird on Jordan too, but that still looks weird so I'm not sure why I brought it up.

That's because #23 on MJ was already iconic in the 80's, not to mention in the 90's. #45 was super weird when he first wore it, and no wonder he went back to 23 a couple of months later. Had he kept the #45 until the second retirement, maybe it would have seem more natural. But we already know very well that it was just a temporary thing. I bet he felt the same.

On the other hand, with Kobe you got used to it. He wore #24 for...what...10 years? It's half of his career. It became his number just as much as #8 was.

I thought 24 did when he first switched. Just got used to seeing him in 8 I guess.

Happens with most guys who change numbers when they're a big name. LeBron changing to 6 was sort of weird for a bit too.

We all eventually get used to it though.

I didn't want to start a new thread because I wasn't sure if anyone already posted this, but here is what Kevin Harlan had to say about being an in-game commentator -

</figure>NBA broadcaster Kevin Harlan should be famous for his work on actual live basketball games. Turns out for a lot of people he’s known as being the only voice they ever hear coming out of a video game.

Harlan sat down with the Just Not Sports podcast the other day to talk about his decade’s worth of appearances in the NBA 2K basketball series, and how this has led to some strange interactions with fans, players and even members of his own family.

“We’ve got the youngest of our four (kids), he’s now in college, but he played a lot when he was younger”, Harlan says. “But he would purposefully turn down the sound because ‘I get too much of my dad,’ he would say, ‘just around the house, let alone now I got to hear him in a game when I want to kind of mellow out a little bit and have some fun.’”

Course, everyone else’s household leaves the commentary running. “I cannot tell you how many people I come in contact with, dads and moms, who will say, ‘Gosh, we hear your voice all the time in our house.’ And I go, well, that’s nice to say, thinking they watched a CBS or TNT game. And they’ll go, ‘No no no, with the 2K game, my son or daughter play this 2K game, like all we do is hear you screaming in the basement.’”

The most interesting thing he talks about, though, is how he and the other commentators come up with things for the video game end up being re-used in actual NBA broadcasts. “I keep a notepad by me when we’re taping, because Brent Barry, or Greg, or Clark, or Steve Smith, or Chris, or Doris, they say stuff that I keep and use in real broadcasts”, he says. “It’s not just, like, stuff coming out that’s like pre-destined to be down this road. They say whatever they say. There’s a topic that’s thrown out, and we go at it and mix it with the game that we’re calling and seeing on the screen, they say some real, good, thought-provoking stuff.”

Oh, and anyone wondering what he thinks of the game itself might be disappointed to hear that, despite the length of his tenure working with 2K on recording lines for the series, he’s never played it. “Well, I have never played the game”, Harlan says. “In fact, I have seen very, very little.”

“Couple times I’ve sat down [with my son] and watched him play through the years. I’m so amazed at what is going on, and know what’s going on. I’m very aware of what is happening technology-wise, editing-wise, content-wise, editorially.”

“But I’ve not really sat down, and I wouldn’t know how to play the game with the gizmo.”

You can catch the entire podcast here.
