Did they remove fake passes while driving? Whenever I drive and fake pass the player just dead stops and fakes a pass, you used to be able to fake a pass and turn it into a layup in 2k17.

I can't find it anywhere online - how do you ping/touch-pass on the perimeter? I do it accidentally once in a while but really need to get it down pat. I thought it was holding down A when you received the pass but that doesn't seem to work consistently.

Any tips on shooting. I had it for PS4 and couldn’t make any shot. I notice on the x it’s a little better but still missing.

I believe you press the pass button again while the ball is in mid flight when receiving a pass to complete a touch pass to your next target.

You want to pick a team and practice their release. Practice a couple of plays so when you need a bucket you'll have different options. Learn a freelance and all of its branches so you don't necessarily have to run a play every possession

I don't care what anyone says, defense is non-existent in this game, except for CPU defense.

How do I change my jsersey for online play? I am always happy with the default jersey, but my opponents keep switching jerseys to the "wrong color (away changes to white, home changes to dark- so I keep playing dark/ dark games and white/ white games- I have no interest in engaging in such stupidity).

My playing style for 2K for a while has been fast pace/catch & shoot basketball, & it’s worked for me pretty good before. But since these last couple of installments where the games leaning towards to suit more of a sim gamers style, I’ve noticed I haven’t been having the same amount of success from past games. I’ve been making the efforts to adopt a offense more balanced w/less tempo & to try to move the ball/play call more often but keep finding myself looking for the quick shot. Does anyone have any pointers as to how I can get used to playing using a more of a organized system to get adapted to more of a sim style so I can get better results?

You should try checking some youtube videos on different freelances. Ive seen a few people mention Frelance 1 as a good one with a lot of off ball cuts to the rim, that would be a good alternative when run and gun isn't working. I feel that in my personal game i have to get more familiar with playing using your strategy. One issue I sometimes have with plays and freelances is that they sometimes take for ever to initiate the offence and i get shot clock violations trying to scramble to make some last second shot. Or my problem could also be i play with they knicks haha.

Example lag online, ball morphing through a body on defense which makes you give up a unrealistic layup, player catching the ball out of bounds(debatable happens in real life), and exaggerating animation that makes you go back court or out of bounds on the base line.

Now that we got that out of way.

Guys just aren't creative man, me and EC Worldwide been saying this for years. Guys games are basic, no creativity or sauce. You need to have sauce in this game to win consistently, make come backs and close out 4th quarters. And you have to be able to get a stop.

I was watching Da Czar video the other day and he also said this game has a ebb and flow system. Guys try to force up shots with stars just because there stars when there obviously cold. Czar said when a star is cold, someone on your bench has it going that night just like real life. Call timeout, drink some water, take a breather. Use that 60 seconds as a mental break then go back to war. Slow down, I realized when you pace yourself and slow down you play more efficient. Don't worry about fastbreaks, you will naturally get chances to run because it's basketball. And your intuition and basketball IQ will tell you when it's smart to run. Don't give it to your PG, pass it up to your wing players for fastbreaks!! If you're playing HOF CPU you messed up already. Czar already said that HOF CPU is straight up cheese. If you're playing CPU play on Superstar, if you're playing against another user play on HOF

In my honest opinion guys don't watch enough film man. Go on YouTube and study who you are using!!! The reason you can't sustain big leads, and close out games is because you lack creativity. Go on YouTube, 2K allows you to recreate 7.5-8 out of 10 moves you see in real life. Watch footage and apply those moves in games, it works wonders. That's why if you play me, I have to many style hence why I named myself IsomotionKing. Be creative and oh yeah shoot alot of fadeaways and leaners off the dribble with your scorers, it works wonders. NBA scorers use alot of fadeaways, when most users don't. Study the CPU when you play, CPU shoots one dribble fadeaways, 2 dribble leaners from mid range and 3, emulate that that's NBA basketball. Users are scared to death to take those shots. Most sim players try to look for the "perfect shot" when there is no perfect shot, take what the defense gives and try the crazy unexpected **** it works.

Play defense. Give something up, prefferably the long contested mid range. If a guy hits a contested mid range shot, falling off one leg spinning, has his tounge out like Mike, jersey in his mouth like Kobe, thinking about what he's buying his daughter for Christmas, while farting In the air and he still hits it congratulate him. In real life guys hit unexpected tough shots all the time, these are professional shot creators they only need a inch of space. Sorry for the long post just tired of guys crying comeback code and script. And call timeouts to neutralize momentum. 2K is a momentum based game as is basketball most users are to stubborn, and feel like since it's a video game they don't have to call timeout.

This is my post from the comeback code thread. I figured I would repost it here because it applies for this thread too and there's some great info in there
Interesting perspective on this post here. It gives me some hope for this game as I have been struggling to find ways to utilize players on my favorite team. I play with the knicks, which to 2k is like playing with a team that consists of only role players and no go to scorers. Where as in real life they have a few very capable shooters/scorers in Doston Hezonja Trier. Im not delusional, I know they are not stars or as consistent as some top tier players but they are capable of droping 17-20 point games and even some 30 point games. But in 2k sometimes i cant buy a bucket with anyone on the roster despite Doston 91 mid range rating. I think part of the problem is these guys have barely any badges and people i play against just throw whatever up with badged out players and drop buckets. Essentially what im saying is do you think this strategy could help in my case?
