Can someone explain when defensive sets such as junk, shrink the floor, etc should be used? If I'm getting beat on the perimeter, there is a "no threes" setting along with maybe tighter d, hard hedges, etc but I'm not sure what to do to defend the post game better and some of the names they have given defensive settings mean nothing to me. Really appreciate any help.

"Junk" is starting off in a zone defense that switches to man-to-man after the first pass, I believe. "Shrink the Floor" is basically gapping everyone with all defenders closer to the paint, which would help in preventing drives.
In defending post-up offensive players, aside from simply playing better 1-on-1 post defense, your main options have to do with double teaming, and when. You can set auto settings for triggers to bring a double-teamer and you can also do that manually...either to manual the double-teamer or to manually call over a double teamer.Comment

Re: NBA 2K18 Teach Me How To Thread : Tips,Plays,Defense
I've never really played anything else than guards in nba2k but now I'm trying out bigs in front. I'm trying these post drills in Mycareers practise but I fail to score any points in them.
How do I make a post spin move exactly? I searched answers and watched couple of videos but all I found was "just spin away". Drill description says "rotate RS to left shoulder" for example but rotate from where? From south to west, from west to north? Even when I think I succeeded in that spin move and I get points in the drill the score after the drill is finished is always zero. Confused...Comment

Re: NBA 2K18 Teach Me How To Thread : Tips,Plays,Defense
Can someone tell me how I can call plays that I assigned in my playbook?
When I go to call for a play, I only get team quick sets such as Mavs warriors etc.
Am I going to have to go through each idividual and set specific sets for them?Comment

Those plays are assigned to certain player? If so then press LB/L1 when you have the ball, select player and after that the play you want to execute.Comment

Anybody else having problems with PNR coverage? My AI defenders are flat out ignoring my settings. I'll set it to ICE and they'll have my Center switching out on Guards. If it's tied to ratings it would be cool once in a while, but it's consistent.Comment

Re: NBA 2K18 Teach Me How To Thread : Tips,Plays,Defense
How do I not turn the ball over 15 times a game? Like any pass to a player on Celtics its like as soon as I move the guy just coughs up the ball even if the other team isn't hitting steal button. It's like as if NBA players can't dribble with a guy near them. I'm having issues online, like I can't even pass to Baynes in the post without him coughing it up automatically. It's frustrating cuz I didn't have this issue in past 2Ks. I do have to say maybe the Celtics players are turnover prone but it's kind of ridiculous. I've used the Bucks and other teams and have won a good amount of games but it's frustrating can't even run an offense online. However when I just turbo with Lebron he never turnover and make a thousand contact dunks and layups.Comment
