Re: NBA 2K18 Teach Me How To Thread : Tips,Plays,Defense
To pull off a hop jumper, say you are moving around the perimeter to your right, whilst moving, press and hold turbo and hold the right stick to your right to initiate a hop jumper, if you press and hold the right stick to the left (the opposite direction of your movement) then you perform a snatch back jump shot, holding the right stick down gives you a momentum step back jumper.
I posted a tutorial video a few pages back for jump shots, if you're interested, the tutorial on momentum shots starts at around the ten minute mark.
When to use them best is another story. It's really best to experiment, but I find that these are best used for when you create space initially (after a dribble move, or a jab step explode for example), which gets your defender reacting a certain way, then using your momentum jump shots depending on what your defender gives you.Comment

I'll try that thanks! I ended up making a SF for the Blazers and I need ways to score without the ball.Comment

Re: NBA 2K18 Teach Me How To Thread : Tips,Plays,Defense
I'm defending on ball mostly and I can see the screen happen but can never switch to the correct man quick enough to make him fight through the screen and get a hand up. It's really frustrating watching harden, gordon, ariza swish through about 15 of these per game.
Is there a way to quickly switch control to the defenders getting hit by the screens or is icon switch the only way? Is there another way of defending these plays I'm missing? Should I always play off ball and fight through?
Any help would be appreciated, thanks all.Comment

Hey guys. I'm really struggling with this. I just played a playoff series with the Spurs vs Rockets and got swept. The games are close and FGs made numbers very similar but the rockets just get way too many open 3s from off ball screens. This was on superstar, I find allstar way too easy to score.

Are you still able to do a fake pass into a layup? On previous 2ks, if you didn't do anything with the ball after a fake pass, you would run out of bounds. On this one, it seems like if you do a fake pass on the run, it'll make you stop automatically.Comment

Re: NBA 2K18 Teach Me How To Thread : Tips,Plays,Defense
A general defensive suggestion for all players, mostly inexperienced ones or players who struggle on defense:
*Always control the defender of the weakest offensive player of the CPU, or the non-shooting player of the CPU, mostly pg,sg,sf or pf, not the center.
*Bring this defender as help defender on drives to the rim or to challenge shots - it has to guard the weakest player on CPU, also use him as extra rebounder if the shot was already taken without you helping your CPU defender team-mate.
*If you control the center of your team which I do from time to time, use him to block the driving lanes and help with interior presence. But it's a bit risky, if you play too far away from the rim, your guy will be open for an easy bucket.
*If the shot clock is down to 3, bring help defender from the guy who is guarding the non-shooting player of the opposition, with 2 guys on the shooter you can block or force him shoot an airball which could lead to an easy fast-break score.
*You can crowd or double-team a perimeter player of the opposition if ;
A- If your original assingment is close by ( So you can get back to him quickly and cover him)
B- If the ball-handler of the CPU is not a good ball-handler so it will be easier for him to lose the ball.
*Sabotage the offensive plan of your opponent especially if you need a few stops badly by playing OFF of the non-shooter eg. Tony Allen, Roberson etc. Bring his defender to double the ballhandler every time so they find Roberson or Allen wide open from three. Just make the CPU take open threes with those guys. So by this way you risk their shot but you also take control of CPU's offense. By the way, you have to stay away from these non-shooters by a wide distance so they will immediately pass them
These are little tips that comes to my mind, hopefully they'll be helpfulBALL DON'T LIE

From my experience RS towards the defender will more likely draw fouls, but getting the foul called depends alot more on the players "draw foul" attribute rating. If it's low, you are much less likely to get a foul called. But if it's high, you are more likely to get one called.Comment

Oh ok I was wondering how I got off Jamal Crawford signature move behind the back hop layup. It was so quick that I didn’t even realize I did exactly what you stated above when I was trying to get the euro step. Lol.
