Re: NBA 2K18 Teach Me How To Thread : Tips,Plays,Defense
Hi all,
I seem to be really struggling with my post spin move in 2k18, and I cannot figure out why.
I've been playing as a big since... well, forever, but this year I seem to randomly be pulling this move where I spin and then try for this step back jumpshot, instead of the tight spin in to the hoop that I normally have done for years.
I keep practicing and in practice it seems fine but come Neighborhood time, I go back to this jump back shot.
I know this seems like a dumb question, but could anyone help me out?
Thanks in advance!Comment

Do you have to hit triangle first to get up in the air? Or just right stick as you approach the rebound?

For sure… But that specific move, the base line spin into the hoop, it just seems really inconsistent, and I'm trying to figure out why I can't do it.Comment

Where do you end up on the court when that animation kicks in? I've yet to experience that and the spin move this year seems stronger than ever, but I'm always in the paint then dunk, layup, drop step, or up and under.Comment

Any tips for staying in front of my man on defense? I'm letting way too many people get past my defenders with simple drives. Wondering if I should be laying off LT, and only using the stick? Or LT+RT? What are you finding works best to defend?Comment

its tough i pulled it off once by using a hop step when driving towards the rim...pump fake than pointed the stick away from the rim.Comment

What kind of big are you? How are you doing the spin move?
There was a post on the 3rd or 4th page in this thread that said if you're a Shaq type big man you should use roll the right stick as this gives you a more forceful and powerful spin. Whereas if you're an AD type big man try doing the holding RT and LS towards the baseline/paint and let go of RT as this gives you a quicker post spin.
I'm a Shaq type post scorer and the RS roll works pretty consistently for me.Comment

Angles. Stay an arm length away from the ball handler - when he attempts to drive, try to position yourself on his outside shoulder. I personally hold L2 the entire time, maybe a quick R2 tap if I need to quickly get in front. I'll try to pay attention to my buttons next time I play.#WashedGamerComment

Are practice actions a thing this year? Where you would perform some things during the shoot around at practice and you could get VC?Comment

Re: NBA 2K18 Teach Me How To Thread : Tips,Plays,Defense
In 2K17, I was told the Defensive Stopper badge only activates when the player with the badge guards certain players on the other team. I never properly labbed this, so today I tested it for 2K18 and here's what I found.
-The badge only activates against the opposing player of the same position *and* one position up or down. So if your starting SF has Defensive Stopper, it will activate against the opposing SG, SF and PF...but not the PG or C
-The positions it activates against are based on where the given player plays in your starting lineup. I tested this by putting LeBron at starting PG in the pre-game lineup loading screen. Even though his natural position is SF, when he started at the point the Defensive Stopper badge only activated against the opposing PG and SG, not the SF.
-It's also based on where the opposing players play in their starting lineup. So if an opposing team starts players listed as shooting guards at SG and SF, your point guard's Defensive Stopper will only activate against the opposing PG and the SG that is actually slotted at SG, not the one slotted at SF.
-I haven't tested how these rules apply to opposing bench playersEnd Game Lineup: http://2kmtcentral.com/17/lineups/10...ine-end-lineup
