i´m from germany, my english is not perfect and I didn´t take the time to read all of the posts which already have made.

i bought NBA 2k18 last week and I tried out the GM modus. The story seems always be the same.
An annoying new team owner and a still more annoying son who try to get your job and a few situations where I can guide the story through my decisions. But please tell me.. what the hell happens there? three examples (please post if you had the same problem):

a) The team owner asks me if he can install his son as Assistant GM. I say "would be a bad idea" - he does it nevertheless.

b) this incomprehensible dumb **** son starts to attack Star Players on Twitter. I fire him, one scenario later, he sits in a meeting and no one cares that i fire him!!!

c) the owner cries like a little child because he wants to see Montrell Hazrell or whatever his name is in his team. I have no use for him, so i don´t get him. and at the end of the trading period, there comes an information, that HAzrell was just being traded.
and to make things more worse, he´s been traded for Daniel Theiss (remember, I am German and I like the Celtics because of Daniel Theiss!)

so, my question: why is there an open story, when it is NO OPEN STORY? i can do what i want, at the end, it will happen like it is scripted! *** ****!!!

is anybody as angry as I am? my motivation to continue this modus is declined.. could be a great modus, but not in this way...

MyLeague is exactly the right answer. No annoying story, and countless added customization features.

I tried MyGM just because I wanted to see it play out. I kind of liked the story ,honestly, but you are right, it was definitely frustrating to find out that my choices meant nothing.

Time to move on to MyLeague

I was just made to acquire Zubac from the Lakers for Baynes. Deal makes no sense considering both centres are the same overall and Zubac is younger. Zubac averaging 7/4/2 with LA while Baynes 4/9/1 with me. Won’t be a massive effect to my team or the lakers, but I did enjoy having Baynes hustle and offensive rebounding on the squad. We will see how Zubac pans out.

im at the nba finals now in my classic season using the classic teams, i deleted all the fake players and let teams fill in with free agents to make it more realistic. so the NBA finals of this league is the 95-96 bulls against the 04-05 spurs and game 1 has been excellent. How ive done my season is on ym day off from work i have cpu games play while i do my house work and all that fun stuff and ill hop in and play as well. Once im done for the day i sim the rest of the week so each day was basically a week. The playoffs i have ahd all the games play either by myself my roommate or cpu.

Game 1 starts off with spurs pounding the bulls inside 29-20 after the first quarter for the spurs. From here on out scottie pippen went into takeover mode to start the second quarter with jordan and duncan on the bench. spurs lead was cut to 31-29 and the bulls then went on a 24-2 run and ended up leading 60-41 at half time. The third quarter was a push for the most part playing evenly while the spurs closed the last minute of the quarter taking it down to a 14 point lead in the beginning of the 4th quarter.

Ginobili brings the spurs into single digits with about 6 minutes left in the game and its getting intense. Jordan basically took over from here pushing the bulls into a 103-93 game 1 victory but it had me thinking if it wasn't for that run this game could have been really close so i am excited to see the next 6 games hopefully of the series.

How much does head coach impact the play of the team in MyLeague? I've been contemplating firing Mike Malone because of how bad the Nuggets are for some reason, but I don't want to if a better coach won't make the team better.

Not as much as you would like to believe. I find just changing the Preferred System has more effect.

Yeah that's what I expected. I'm looking for better play out of my team. 6th seed last year and virtually the same team this year, only one new starter who I thought was an upgrade and this year we are 14 in conference. I'm disappointed and looking for answers.

It definitely has an impact, although how much im not sure. While running a simple (although probably unrealistic) simulation with Milwaukee, I had a lineup of Kemba, Middleton, Giannis, DeAndre Jordan, and I believe Jabari. The first year (the rest of this year) we lost in the first round, and then the next year with a B+ across the board coach, we went 7 games in the first round but swept the rest of the playoffs. It definitely has an impact but its a mix of the system proficiency and the coaches grades, and even then it's probably not a huge impact.

I need some help figuring out progression. I am playing a myleague with the Kings and none of my players are progressing. I targeted a bunch of high potential guys in the draft and have 4-5 guys with 85-90 potential rating. However, none of them have developed at all over the past two years. I have worked with the training setting, I have tried playing some while sitting others. But nothing has worked.

Not sure if this is the right thread, but didn't want to create a new thread about it.

We all know the MLO is messed up again this year due to the Keeper Year process. I have a league with 10 users in it right now and we are trying to utilize a realistic approach for signing guys, making trades (using some sort of salary filter, etc.).

I remember some months ago someone mentioned they created a spreadsheet with all of this information in the spreadsheet. So, when it came to making a trade or going by how much money a team had to sign a FA, they utilized the spreadsheet.

Does anyone utilize this for MLO or know who could help?

Quick question. I'm half way through my first My League season (past the trade deadline) and I have trade deadline OFF because I like to update the rosters when real life trades happen like Blake Griffin today. So I'm trying to make the trade with the Pistons but I don't see the option to actually make trades. Any help figuring out why would be appreciated.

This is due to poor fits and no man's land for development. The best thing to do in this case is to trade bad contracts, sign a key vet FA, and make fitting the system a priority. I seen this happen too many times. This game is much smarter in the franchise mode than anytime I've seen in the past.

Thanks so much for the help. What do you mean by “fits”? Is this how well they match up with the style you play under the coaching tab? Or is it how you play on the court?

That is super cool that the game is that intricate. Coming over from madden, it baffles me how much deeper this franchise mode is.
