Re: NBA 2k18 Impressions Thread
It's not even about the angle. The textures, lighting etc look 100 times better in the pics they released than what I'm seeing in game.
I will admit, I'm playing on a PS4 Pro, but not 4K TV. Does the game on a 4K TV look like the pis they released? I asked a friend who is playing on a 4K display and he said no.Comment

Re: NBA 2k18 Impressions Thread
I haven't been able to connect to servers, been getting the EFEA/45b error codes, does angone know fixes to that?
Besides that I've played a few full games, still getting used to it, absolutely love this game though, everything from the pre game, to celebrations to everything on the court, so smooth.
One thing I loved was I played a game Timbewolves (me) @ Thunder and pre game "Do What I Want" was playing and Westbrook was doing his dance. Love little things like that.Add me on XB1 GT: M Sweeeets

Re: NBA 2k18 Impressions Thread
I envy those who are loving this.
For me, I am quite disappointed with many aspects.
-The gameplay does not feel that smooth. I'm seeing a lot of frame rate drops. Unless it's just clunky animations.
-The lighting is dreadful. It's ok in LA or GS, but go play a game in Phoenix, etc. It's beyond bad. Dull lighting and dull courts with barely any reflection.
-Obviously not being able to edit current players bodies anymore. This is almost a deal-breaker for me. Guys don't look how they should/could. Despicable they took this out after years of it being in the game.
-CAP. Goes without saying.
-They removed Broadcast Generic camera. Again, why?! I have played on that for years with adjusted height/zoom. I cannot recreate that look with the broadcast cameras they have in the game now.
I'll give it more time, but overall my hype has died down substantially since yesterday.

Re: NBA 2k18 Impressions Thread
I have a lot of complaints about the game but none of them are gameplay. On the court I think this plays as well as any basketball game ever. The weight of players combined with the responsiveness is incredible. I really can't think of a sports game that feels better. Having said that some of the art feels lacking. No player portraits for rookies/free agents, missing jerseys, outdated hair styles etc. Add to that the issues with draft classes and the cap system and I'm not sure how to rate this.
not much a stickler for color/lighting, but I do agree of the general blandness of colors (especially after playing the live 18 demo and seeing THOSE colors/lighting).
Whatever happened to full body scanning?! Because if they really did that as they claimed in the art video they released a month back, we wouldn't STILL be having body proportion problems. I acknowledge that, in general, 2k18 > 2k17 in terms of general player body appearance, but, with that positive out of the way, how can 2k roll out t-rex arms Paul George?!!? or any of the other t-rexes for that matter (exum is another standout... even Devin booker to a degree). Worst of all of this, is the fact that they removed body edit options --- this could've been such an easy fix. PLEASE 2K PATCH IN BODY EDIT OPTIONS
rant over, for now. I'm so happy playing 2k18 and feeling the responsiveness, control and the general gameplay improvements made... but I get so dejected seeing all the art BS that tarnishes the overall experience

Re: NBA 2k18 Impressions Thread
I have seen a lot of people mentioning that they are having issues with the CPU 3PT% being unrealistically high. I have been playing on default HOF and have yet to see a team shoot above 33% from three. Two of my games were against the Rockets and they shot 29% and 33% from beyond the arc. I ended up raising the CPU Mid-Range and 3 Point sliders. I also lowered user shot contest. It's been too easy to either put my hands up with the right stick or simply run into a shooter as he releases the ball. There needs to be more fouls on jump shots if you run too aggressively to close out. The Rockets are loaded with scorers who can make contested shots but the default sliders don't allow enough to go in.
Everything else about the game is great.Last edited by LTonD56; 09-15-2017, 08:48 PM.Comment

I closed out the NBA 2k application and re-booted the game. It appears to be playing at a smooth 60 fps now.Comment

Re: NBA 2k18 Impressions Thread
All I'm going to say is, the gameplay is really at its best. Like wow, honest this has to be the best and most smothers 2K to date. The players move how I wanna moved when I want them to. Finally feel like I have full total control . It's a great feeling

Re: NBA 2k18 Impressions Thread
To those with framerate drops. Try re-starting the game after the download. I finished downloading and went directly into a "play now" game and experienced pretty significant frame rate drops.
