No, I didn't accidentally change his contract. The contracts are correct, however, there are multiple players (basically anyone with a Player Option in 2019 - Kyrie, Marc Gasol, Dragic, etc.) who have more than a year before the last year of their deal who show up on the Contract Extensions screen in 2017.

I did a quick test and it is correct once you get to the offseason, so it looks like we're all good on this. I guess it's a new feature where you can potentially re-sign players before their last full season. I didn't about until I started so it kind of surprised me.

As I understand it, the new CBA will let you extend a player who still has 2 years left on his deal, but only for 3 additional years, I think with 8% increases per year. If he's in his last year you can extend him for 4 years. So, yes, it is new in the CBA.

1. Bird Rights/Cap Holds
2. Centers, who should be top picks, are not getting drafted
3. Centers (and only Centers) sign for billions instead of millions
Thats the three bugs/glitches that hopefully will be fixed in the next patch.

Contracts (Role Players (Overall in the high 70´s - low 80´s) are demanding too much) and Draft Classes (too many 22-24 year old Rookies, who enter the League as Two-Way-Superstars, but this could maybe be fixed with the Draft Class Quality Slider though) may need a bit tuning.

Other than that, MyLeague seems fine.

Computer also does not use 2-way contracts after Year 1 and they release draft picks, which should be extremely rare and only happen to late 2nd rd picks in general.

Also players in the NBA draft should generally be between 19-22, not 22-24. Peak ages need to be tweaked too.

I'd like to see these items addressed as well.

Yeah it seems you´re right with the Two-Way Contracts, saw it in my newest test file.

As far as the Rookies go:
as I said, this may need a bit tuning.
The 22-24 year old Rookies are "old school", todays top Rookies never stay so long in College. That´s also the reason why you have those Superstar-Rookies.
Some guys may like this if they play a MyLeague with Classic Teams though.

And I think the reason for the AI releasing Draft Picks are the inflated Overalls. This is a Roster thing (issue) in my opinion.

Also, MyLeague will never be close to fine until you can simulate a game and trust the results. You have so many reports of season one sims where the Warriors aren't as good as the Jazz and the Timberwolves win the championship-- That's a 1 in 1,000 scenario but it seems like no matter how much work you put into the rosters, you're just rolling the dice on some level.

This along with the inflated contracts and CPU not signing draft picks is all roster rating inflation. Way too many 80s and 70s.

If Ronnie 2k and the rest of the team are gonna cater to players and inflate the ratings, we need a myleague roster where there is a bigger gap in ratings to correct these problems.

This is also a Roster issue.

However, the tests I run were mostly fine, atleast at the top of the League.
9 out of 10 times the Warriors had the best record and 8 out of 10 times they reach the Finals and most of the time they will face Cleveland.
But this is because those two teams are so much better than the rest, especially the Warriors.
The results that you get from seed 2-8 are the problem, not much seperation here.

And a few years into MyLeague this becomes a real problem, when Teams barely reach 60+ Wins and you will often see the 8th seed in the Finals.

Yeah Ive always hated this, I really dont know why this is so hard for them to program right each year. As woodi said, and I think he is probably correct, that players dont have as big of a gap between elite talent, AS caliber, role players, and end of bench players.

I think this yr I am going to make a roster for MyLeague, and rerate every player. When you have a scale of 25-99, you should use more of that scale than 70-99, which is basically what they do, there is a few in the 60's, but not many. While I dont think any player is a 25 by anymeans, or probably not even in the 40's, you should probably be using anywhere between 50-99, or around there. If they rated on a true HOF scale that it, which they dont no matter what they say, or they who do their ratings have no clue about the NBA., which I dont think thats the case.
I think the problem is the game has gotten so big, and this generation of athletes actually play video games, so there guys at NBA2k, want to be friends with them, and not tick any player off, by rating them where they should actually be rated, so they overate guys, and even then some players arent happy.
Then once the season starts, these little kids start saying you need to raise so and so, he scored 30pts last night, or he has had a 3 or 4 game stretch where he average 25 pts on 55% shooting from 3pt range, he needs his rating bump up. So then they raise that players rating, when he was already overrated to begin with. Heaven forbid they ever drop a popular player, especially if he is on a popular team. You see average players get a shot and have a stretch of games that are good, and if he plays on a popular team, even when that player come back down and starts playing like his average self again they wont bump him down, or they wont bump him where they should. So you then end up by seasons end with a bunch of 90 players and 80's rated players.

As of right now they dont have to many 90+ rated guys, they have a couple I dont think should be. IMO to be a 90+ that player needs to be a all time great, 1st ballot HOF player. That might not be a great example since the NBA lets guys in that are all time greats,lol.

Also defense ratings, need to have more impact. If a guy sucks or like Harden has no real desire to play D, then his rating needs to show, he is a 1 way player. Right now if you lower a defensive rating, like for instance Harden, and drop every defensive rating down by quite a bit, it wont drop his overall rating very much at all.
Offensive ratings give more of a boost and more of a decline than you defensive ratings, and its to big of gap. Offensive rating, probably should have a little more impact, than defense ratings, but not as big of gap as NBA2k has it.

I dont know if you edited a roster with a bigger gap between players, and rated them accurately, if it would have a impact on the sim engine or not. Ive never been brave enough to do a all out rerate, due to worrying about messing up gameplay and stats, as I would be ticked off if I spent hours on end rerating the league to a wider gap, and find out I mess up the stats and gameplay Although its not like NBA2k stats are all that accurate anyway, although has improved from a few years ago, when it was basically broken, and you either ignored all stats, or quit playing.

I might dive in this yr and decide to do a entire rerate, before ever starting a MyLeague. I usually rerate as I play in ML, so not sure if I have the patience or time to do a all out rerate of the entire league.

I don't know if I can bring NBA Live 2004 up again without being hassled but man that game was brutal on it's ratings. If you sucked then you absolutely sucked. They had all-stars on that game ranked in the mid seventies. There were starters ranked in the forties and fifties. It did not play around. That's one reason I still pop it in from time to time today. You can actually feel a huge difference between being an all star vs being an average player, or just being a straight up scrub

At the end of the day, like you said, it's a roster issue, and one that's been around for a while. The solution is to use community rosters that have a wider scale. There's nothing 2k is gonna do to fix this.

Let's hope they can fix the other issues outlined in this thread so the rest of myleague can be up to par.

Can you elaborate on why in the recent 2K Roster Updates the ability to change coaches names and or faces has been removed?

Also, Why have the Assistant coaches been reverted to last years? Ed Pinckney should be on Minnesota, Brian Shaw should be on LA Lakers, Bob Weiss should be on Denver....

I’m hoping that the option to edit names and the correct coaches returns... can you confirm this will return?

what's crazy is ppl talking about rosters and ratings and we need community rosters to fix....when there is a former community guy making the rosters now....what he did for 2k12 will go down in history..

funny that now he is part of 2k, all of his work that made his Rosters great is now gone and we need others to essentially do what got him his job...

Thread seems to be off topic...we made some impactful progress by detailing mechanical and functional issues. I have no beef with anyone concerned over rosters, but you do have available tools to amend those as you please.

Contract demands are a bit frustrating, I agree some tooling could be we spent time. However, a few short-term tips I have had success with are listed below (to hold you off until improved tooling and/or more comprehensive community sliders become available.

To address free agency contractual frustrations (star player signing for nill or Durant heading off to Pacers) try following.

Bump up starting cap 1 or 2 levels - yes, you lose a little realism, but you’ll give a little relief against cap in first year of FA.

Bump up cap increase rate - this will keep your relief in place while inflated real life contracts run their course. Yes, this means contracts being negotiated in present are inflated, but it decreases the present value of existing contracts, giving teams a little, much needed relief against cap. I have it currently set to 55

Remove hard cap - this will help keep stats off unrealistic cellar dwellers. You’re sacrificing likelihood of player movement (but LeBron passing on Lakers is far more realistic than Durant in Indiana).

Increase teams aggressiveness in retaining players - if they can afford to retain top tier talent, they will do just that. I am currently set to 65

Increase non financial ambitions - I’ve found this helps players make more realistic decisions in free agency. No one wants to play for Sacramento (that’s realistic, no offense intended) I set to 100

Not offended if you disagree but I’ve founf this makes MyLeague more enjoyable.

Bonus tip: use 45 for draft class quality. Edit down player ages to more realistic 19/20 year olds for first 20 projected players.

I could definitely see what your saying helping for those who cant wait till they fix the issue to start a MyLeague. I always wait till things get fixed, because Iv never trusted the patches to not mess up my ongoing Franchise mode, no matter what sports game Im playing.

If I dont want to take the time to do a bunch or rerating to fix the mess that is the NBA2k ratings each yr, I also lower progression, and bump regressions up some.

Im OCD so when it comes to stats, salary caps, it has to be realistic for me, so I could not do this,lol. But if for some odd reason they dont fix MyLeague issues, your advice, is definitely a great work around.

Plus I have always found out, all team control, is a must, it dont mean you have to control all 3o teams, but you can stop or fix something stupid by the AI teams.

I do more all team control towards end of season after we think we know what offseason moves may/may not happen. But, I hate when I handle all teams and then as soon as I orchestrate Russ to Lakers, he signs extension and wham, that franchise is good as done.

One thing I do that manipulate computer delinquency to a decimal is edit coach contracts for guys that aren’t going anywhere (Pop, Kerr, D’Antonio, Spoelstra, etc) so Pop (or name unrealistic option) goes to Nets after year 1
