appreciate the break down. Remember I wasnt going at you. I was going off of what you said trying to paint a picture. and yes basketball IQ helps. but lets be realistic. and I know its hard for people to realize this, What i call Exploit IQ is just as important or moreso than basketball IQ.
simple example of that video i posted that we all saw in the combine. we all know good and well thats not real in real life basketball. you can't just hold your arms to your legs like you're taking a charge to stop someone from defending an overhead pass or a long bomb pass while you're directly under the basket. There should be zero argument with that kind of stuff. we know that aint basketball. Now is it basketball to Rim run? YEP. Does rim running work 90% of the time in real life? NO. Does it work in 2k 90% of the time in the combine? YEP. basketball IQ wont fix that. Thats the game not being built correctly to showcase a real rim run or under the hoop deep position post up situations and defense. Lets say your basketball IQ is kobe level as a player and Greg pop as a coach. basically a basketball genius. But you have no idea how to do that move that you see others doing. You will end up with solid stats, but nothing in the realm of those doing that all the time over and over and over again abusing the heck out of the game's lack of real basketball in that area. Do you see my point?
The best guys/most elite guys are not Elite because they have the highest basketball IQ's. its because the have the highest how to abuse the hell out of the animations IQ. These dudes/girls(they're out there too) can catch a funky animation that isnt realistic but it works, quicker than most people. They can see it, they will work on it to find out when and where it works, time it just right. perfect that baby and put it in their bag of tricks. There is a ton of this going on in 2k at the Elite levels. lets not fool ourselves to say otherwise. and again, I can't really be mad at some people for trying to cash checks off of abusing 2k's missteps. aint they fault. thats on 2k to fix...or not.
Yes the game has some real life basketball principles and I think, if you were to have 10 people who decided not to abuse exploits but use High basketball IQ, you could watch some really beautiful games. but that aint going to happen. you will watch my basketball IQ + my super high exploit abuse IQ killing you.
The 5 out offense proves this. This works in 2k because of certain unrealistic offensive and defensive animations in the game.
In this game I can know exactly where you're going and you can still force you way that direction depending on your archetype. and you can do that with little consequences. no matter the sliders. Thats an internal programming thing they came up with because people complained like crazy the past few years about the bump animations being to magnetic. which they were. 2k has not found that balance. it's because even though they tell us every year no more 2 player animations. it's not true. They're formulas are based on 2 player interactions instead of single player interactions. I address this in that thread about the snatch back dribble being cheese.
But this has been a problem since people could cheat and create those Demi-Gods in the old 2ks when it was called crew mode. I remember playing those top teams and getting smacked. Then i realized what was going on. i found some ways to contain some of the bs. but that was some. so what i and my guys would end doing is occasionally beating those teams and more times than not losing a tight game by 10 or less because no matter how hard you try playing 100% realistic high iq basketball aint enough when you have a game with so many OBVIOUS animation issues on both sides of the ball. at some point you're going to have to abuse that exploit to win some games vs other players and teams who dont care and will use everything possible to win.
and this is what I'm saying about the league where I hope the abuse of exploits in the game will make for less viewers because once every team/player in the league realizes the exploit EVERYONE will do it. which is the same reason everyone runs the 5 out and which is why everyone pretty much does the same stuff to call up the same unrealistic animations to defend or score, etc. This causing a situation where people have less of an identity in the game. everyone starts to play the same or so similar to most people can't tell them apart aside from their gamertag.
And I still stand by this until the game is fixed to the point where it does truly resemble a basketball simulation. Where I say. half of the top guys would not be the top guys if the exploits were not in the game to abuse. a lot of guys are feasting off of those exploits. and not real basketball. They would not be considered the best without them.
**and about ps4 or xbox playing smoother. maybe their videos are just smoother and not the actual game play. i wouldnt know since i dont have both consoles. i only play on xbox.
