Re: Simnation are y'all still around?
Talking about Freelance, any advices guys when using "Motion Cuts", "Scoring Actions " or "Space the floor" ? I'm kinda messy with those concepts.Comment

Re: Simnation are y'all still around?
Motion cuts is about an offense that keeps running and cycling through if the user makes the right passes and ball movement. It branches out into different option depending on user decisions. IMO this is the best one to use.
Scoring actions are quicker to move into pick and roll to get a shot. Less options but useful at times.
Space the floor is when the players stand in the spots they are supposed to for the offense. No real movement is generated though. Very limited use.
Go into scrimmage mode, put full play art on and test them out for yourself.Comment

It's worth it. This is an example of flow offense. It's just read and react to what the defense is doing.

Re: Simnation are y'all still around?
What does simnation want this year? We know that the game will basically be settled by now. No new features, just polishing the existing ones.
1. Increased manoverablity for ball handler in pick and roll. Almost like a finesse step control that FIFA gives players. It slows you down but has much smaller, precise steps. Putting your defender in jail. I saw this once as an animation, but give us control over it.
https://<iframe width="560" height="...reen></iframe>
2. CPU attacking weak defenders. I like this. But from I could see it only applied to on ball defenders. If CPU Westbrook recognised I was guarding him with Barea, he'd iso or post up. Hopefully the CPU develops the ability to recognise weak big defenders. So I might put a good ball defender on Westbrook, but he sees I have Dirk at center. So he calls pick and roll every time down and attacks downhill.
3. CPU cross matching. I saw it a lot more in 2K17 than 2K18. Let's see the CPU move defenders around and not just rely on positions.
4. CPU defensive rotations. The first rotation is usually very good. The next step is to get those 2nd and 3rd rotations locked in.
5. The flowtech mechanic. This was extraordinary and didnt get the attention it deserved. Hopefully it gets expanded. Apply it to bigs who want to get post position. Use it for guards to get into PNR. Ive included a video of it below. Kemba Walker is the CPU and Im trying to guard him with Smith Jnr.

6. I don't have much hope in this, but more off ball fouls and non-shooting fouls. Massive slideritis every year in finding the right balance between getting decent FT numbers and making sure every inside **** isn't a foul.

Re: Simnation are y'all still around?
- smoother dribble chaining
- removing the weird forced slowdown/hesitation thing around halfcourt that has been around since ps4/x1's first year of 2k and i was personally told would be removed by 2k staff
- the removal of a shot counting as being contested if the defender is BEHIND the shooter
- cpu controlled defensive players giving space to guys who are good shooters (playing with 94 open 3 seth curry and the defender is always sagged off while i have the ball in his hands allowing always "open" shots)
- earlier defensive matching by the cpu (ACE?). their best defender should be matched on my best scorer before i drop 15 in a quarter because im being defender by the regular matchup that is a bad defender.
something that really turns me off is that when the CPU starts using sizeups in an iso, i legit just stand still because they cant properly use dribble movesComment

Re: Simnation are y'all still around?
One of the biggest issues for me the past 5yrs are animations lasting toooo long especially the CPU.
2K18 was extremely bad with this, defenders riding the dribbler for 3-5 dribbles.
The CPU offensive force field that moves the defender back to create space to score.
The past 4/5 years the CPU mirrors the user's motion, as soon as you hit a button it react unrealisticly AKA psychic defenders. Results to turnovers, sliding, and unrealistic movements.
Extremely bad in 2K18!
Clipping is bad and seems to be getting worse.Last edited by keshunleon; 07-13-2018, 09:07 AM.True bout my business, Mane!Comment

Hopefully after the Eastern & Western Conference Finals It would also be nice to have the choice of how to rotate out defensively on switches and mismatches. The Celtics with the scram switch on the post pass or the Rockets sending immediate double from weak side or strong. Offensively having all players AI IQ to realize the mismatch and either reset for a quick ISO or feed the post on mismatches immediately (think Final 4 Conference Finals with all teams).
I am hoping we get a cut or space, read & react, and/or maybe a cut or space IQ tendency rating for players to differentiate high IQ players making proper reads and differentiating players who will or won't cut as often as others. Set players apart a bit more and it can take the place of cutter play types in a sense.
Fast break logic and spacing still needs a lot of work as far as spacing go's. The ratings with Cut or Space tendencies helped a ton as out of the box they were way off but it drove me crazy as I'm bringing ball up on a break to see my players criss cross around me with no spacing logic. I realize probably not an easy code and I do like the immediate drags from the wing. I'd like to see a simple numbered break that leads into and is a freelance for fast breaks. You could still have the same pre sets for freelances as far as Space (basic numbered break to spots), Motion (leads into a few different options like I will list below), and scoring options (drag screen, swing into back screen flare, etc...)
1- Trailer drag screen option
2- High post trailer Hi Low option
3- Wings criss cross on floppy's
4- swing into stagger
5- swing into flare
6- swing follow ball screen
7- strong action
8- weak action
9- DHO’s into PNR
10- etc, etc...
All in all I loved 18 after roster tendency edits and slider adjustments. The CPU played the best game I have ever seen in a 2k game. I don't get a lot of complaints AT ALL, but I don't play the other my player modes soooo.... Can't wait to hear what Czar has done this year!Last edited by vannwolfhawk; 07-13-2018, 07:11 PM.Basketball Playbooks

Re: Simnation are y'all still around?
Would be nice to better utilize speed changing and maybe (not even sure its possible) see the CPU do it to replicate playstyles of IT, TJ Warren, and other guys who cant beat you with athleticism but have such a great understanding of how to use their pace against the defender to do whatever they want.Comment
