Snaking the PnR would be amazing for small guards to boost their use offensively. One issue I find unique to the game that I didn't really think of (that can't be addressed now if it wasn't already), is passing to players that are in the ball handlers blindspot.
As the player controlling the game, we have a birds eye view (given you're using 2k camera or broadcast) so we can see everyone on the court. However, technically the player we are controlling can't see everything around them all at once. I think the speed and accuracy of passes to players that are outside of the ball handlers FOV should be based on the passing vision and passing IQ rating. Currently, there isn't a distinction between Lebron turning and firing a pass to a guy who was behind him and Demar Derozan doing the same thing when a user is controlling the players.
There should be a delayed passing animation that is shortened based on the ball handlers passing ability. (i.e. the user presses pass to a guy who has moved to a different spot while they were out of the ball handlers FOV, the ball handler won't immediately turn and whip a pass to the guy, but will first, turn look to find the guy then pass the ball). There should be a lot more of this, happening. Currently, you could fire a bullet pass to Ray Allen or the moving Chalmers as you drive with Lebron as the user for a wide open 3
Along with that, more strategy needs to be put into ball handling on defence and offence. Right now, forcing a guy left or right doesn't make a difference. The offensive player chooses what direction to go based on whichever lane is most open to the basket or to get a shot off. However, in real life players are not ambidextrous and a lot of players can't dribble left handed under defensive pressure without picking up the ball or having to pass it. A defensive player should be rewarded for forcing a bad ball handler to use their offhand to dribble, and a bad ball handler should be penalized for trying to dribble with their offhand into traffic or during intense defensive pressure.
Additionally, it would be nice to see differences in shot quality based off of whether you pull up driving to the left or right (based on what hand you use to shoot). I'm not 100% certain, but it appears that in the game it doesn't really matter if you're fading to your right or shooting after a dribble pull up going left as long as you adhere to the shot timing. If the shot clock is going down I would want to force a right handed shooter to go right to shoot because they would have to turn in the air to face the basket making the shot more difficult.
But allowing a right handed shooter to go left makes getting a shot off more easy because they are squared with the basket.

"To me this thought makes a ton of sense. When you look at that feature list it can't easily be said that we don't care about defense. But I think it is fair to say our implementation did not meet expectations this year.
Defense will indeed be a high priority for us next year. Even more than this year due to the issues of which you are all well aware.
I will be joining the effort on defense to help bolster that side of the ball for 2k18. Depending on how you feel I guess that can be good or bad .
And while we obviously can't get to everything this late in the year. Hopefully what you see in the upcoming gameplay patch will give you some sliver of hope that we can and will do a much better job on both sides of the ball moving forward as far as AI and that defense is indeed a priority."

There's already snake dribble animations in the game built in to the left stick, but you have to know how to trigger them

Most of my time has been with the other game. The players morphing thru other players was an immediate turn off.
