Re: Simnation are y'all still around?

reading the description of "take over" makes me almost not want to buy 2k19 because it sounds like gamebreakers in street.

So, if it's Chris Paul, he might unlock the Dimer badge under his name, meanwhile Kyle Irving might unlock the Ankle Breaker attribute.

does this mean CP doesnt have dimer, kyrie doesnt have AB? do they only have active badges while on takeover mode? wtf is 2k doing.

There are game changers who can have a huge impact on the game, in every facet of the game. Look at a guy like Lance Stephenson, who isn't the purest scorer in the world, and doesn't normally take over (he could, but still), but doing the energy/hustle plays, and everyone feeds off of that. It can change the game quickly.

Scoring wise, I miss the Inside Drive days where Kobe would get going, or Vince, and they'd get the little fire emblem next to their name. You'd be playing the game, and then they'd start warming up, hitting from everywhere on the floor. It was your mission to cool them off, and not let them take completely over the game. Then the little fire would hit, and you knew you were in for it then. It makes you really change your game plan, and try to figure out how on earth you stop him. Inside Drive had it to where the "hot or cold" streak carried over into the next games, which is awesome. I've pitched this several years running, and I'm glad it's coming back.

I can't speak for the streets mode, but I'm glad it's coming as a franchise only player. I love seeing guys go off.

I'm optimistic about everything I'm seeing right now. I know they have a phenomenal dev team, who can put a product on the floor that is amazing. The warping, the glitching, the comeback code (we all know there's something there to help keep the game close)... there's no need for those things. I want them to give me a SIM product, that respects human movement and abilities, without the cheese. I want to lose because the cpu executed their gameplan better than I did, not because they had defenders warping into position to contest otherwise open shots. I'm cautiously optimistic that this year will be one huge step closer to getting that.
Man most of these dudes didn't play ID and you can tell.

It's sad the only thing that gets attention is my player but offline is great. My league is one great franchise mode and having guys who still believe in Sim working on the game helps.

... But I'm more leaning where you are. On this one.

I feel like if it was the absolute doomsday scenario you're imagining it would have immediately jumped out to 23 or at least one of the other guys playing.

I dont take much away from "early playing" from people because its not the game we are getting in september, especially after the 1-2 week of release patches...just things like that really stick out to me along with the ridiculous amount of gliding from players.

Im still playing myleague offline and if i just have to change my roster to account for nobody having badges or making it so the fake gamebreaker has as little impact as possible if its breaking is fine with me.

A "Gamebreaker" type feature would be pretty hard to miss I would think, lol...

              We'll see though...

I noticed several of the Defensive settings appeared to have bugs and do not work as intended. My main issue was the PNR (hard hedge, soft hedge, catch hedge, double, etc) for both Centers and all other positions.

I love the fact that they breakup PNR responsibilities for Centers and all other positions. However, I noticed if I set all positions to hard hedge, and “Center” to catch hedge... More often then not, the center would be hard-hedging.

Hopefully, all of the Defensive Settings work as advertised this year. It is hard to create a defensive scheme when the options do not work as intended.

I wonder if there is a rating that ties into this take over bar and how fast it fills, or a personality badge?

Side note, anyone got the release date on when prelude comes out?

It was supposedly leaked by metacritic to be released on August 31st.

"To me this thought makes a ton of sense. When you look at that feature list it can't easily be said that we don't care about defense. But I think it is fair to say our implementation did not meet expectations this year.

Defense will indeed be a high priority for us next year. Even more than this year due to the issues of which you are all well aware.

I will be joining the effort on defense to help bolster that side of the ball for 2k18. Depending on how you feel I guess that can be good or bad .

And while we obviously can't get to everything this late in the year. Hopefully what you see in the upcoming gameplay patch will give you some sliver of hope that we can and will do a much better job on both sides of the ball moving forward as far as AI and that defense is indeed a priority."

I know this was planned for 18 and it didn't happen, hoping it does for 19.
Try and remember that you guys will always be ahead of us in terms of what you are seeing that needs to be addressed. Sometimes it takes a year worth of work that isn't immediately visible to make changes and improvements to core systems to get them operating at their maximum level.

I think almost all the initial feedback has included some mention of improved defense. The true test, of course, is when you guys get your hands on the game but fundamentally, we are more solid at this point, than we have ever been on that end. IMO, YMMV etc. It won't be flawless of course but if you suffered through last year this year should be a much better experience on that end.

It is always helpful if you are more descriptive when making requests like this. By this point I have no real recollection of what anything looked like as far back as 2k16 when considering how many changes have happened in the data between then and now.

So what exactly are you looking for with the triangle that has changed ?

The Triangle is my favorite offense IRL.

From what I remember in 16 there were less determined branches and the almost totality of the offense appeared to be available. 18 felt streamlined with overall basic rules only. For example in 18 the UCLA cut PnR action, as well as center opposite entries were limited or missing.

Czar, as a Triangle enthusiast I love how the offense can also be a format. How difficult is it in programming and designing to modernize the Triangle? By no means am I requesting, but personally curious.

I think in 2K18 you will see more of those branches and variety if you play with Scoring Actions on. Have you tried that? You still won't see the full on play art all together for every branch the way it used to be - and I detailed all of them in videos for triangle in the past - but you will see more of the CPU choosing key actions that fit your players and to some extent the way the defense is playing.

I think I heard Czar say on maybe one of his videos this year that he may change up the way they have motion cuts and scoring actions so split up, I'm not sure.

I think he was saying that the intent for simplifying motion cuts was to make it most accessible and predictable to newer users, but that maybe in retrospect it didn't play out as planned because those users never really learned how to get to the next level in scoring actions so they missed out on all the depth available.

Czar might not confirm or comment on that now, since it's not really time yet to talk publicly about these things in 2k19, but that's just a side note for you sim heads, something to watch for.
