Haha fair enough - I'll seek those answers elsewhere.... I've just seen a lot of talk about 2K being deceptive so was keen to hear from someone reputable.

I was one of the ones who thought 2K was being a little deceptive in terms of the lighting. 2K19 definitely looks better with respect to the muscle definition, but I feel like the colors still look dull and flat. I understand for some people it's really not a big deal, but improved lighting would just make the game feel more alive IMO.

Also 23, one last non-gameplay question, how did the atmosphere feel in terms of crowd reactions and did they fix the rim sound for dunking so it doesn't sound like a garbage truck?

I liked quite a bit of what I've seen, moreso than any 2k's in recent memory. I'll post in a bit on what's got me amped up.

Re: Simnation are y'all still around?

I think gameplay is on the right track from last year, even though there are always annoying issues that seem to creep up every year (Lackluster atmosphere, lack of fouls, rebounding, no real in-game management by the AI, online issues, etc). Last year was a huge jump for me as far as control and movement and I love the new animation system - even with all the clipping. I do hope that jump shooting vs defense is better, as I felt there were way too many contact jumpshots. Head 2 head vs friends who know what they were doing was great, although usually everything is better with friends anyway.

What I haven't been digging in the last half decade is the publisher's VC BS everywhere in game. I love the game, but I've resigned from accessing certain parts of it just so I don't have to deal with that mess and hopefully they keep it out of MyLeague forever. Otherwise I might have to bow out for good if it does eventually get into my most played mode. I really dislike Take Two as a publisher in general, so many great games, so many terrible business and marketing decisions.

Has the defensive switching been tuned? I've been playing 18 a decent amount the last week and drives me nuts when I get the prompt to switch and I do so, only for my AI teammate to not follow through with the switch and either try and guard the guy I've switched to, or just float around with no responsibility.

Yes I've seen the defender so it on the pick and roll

Re: Simnation are y'all still around?

This game died for me a few years back. Not sure if it was my job/career/maturity taking over or the general direction of the franchise. Probably a healthy mix of both.

I check in now from time to time just to see if there is any radical improvement in terms of graphics or game engine. My 3 favourite 2ks were 2k7,2k11,2k14.

The emergence of the whole VC and arcade aspect has turned me away completely also. I’m a basketball guy first and a video game person second, so when it felt more like a video game and less about basketball, I got a sour taste in my mouth that hasn’t left.

It’s a shame what has happened to this franchise. It seems like anytime something becomes mainstream it loses its heart and soul and becomes just a vehicle for profit. It’s something deep and intrincent that I could feel.

I might buy 2k again someday, but it would have to embody a VC free, Park free, no arcade atmosphere for me to even consider.

Did you check to see if the P.O.E. OTF Menu work as well as in Time Outs for 19?

I see a lot of Sim guys always overlook this aspect of the game, I don't know why, it is essential to your style of play and on the fly adjustments. Just imagine playing madden and the Def or off edits didn't work.

I respect everyone's opinion but to my taste, this game took the arcade route since the creation of the badges and every year it is more and more difficult to me playing it an dedicate enough time... Let's see if this "takeover" stuff is not another step to abyss... LOL.

Seriously, I still love 2k basketball even though the game is far from perfect, there are many nuances to consider and fix, for instance, I feel the engine does not penalize enough bad timed block attempts, but anyway I know I will be hooked playing 2k again on September 7th, I just hope they will never forget about real NBA fans who want to play MyLeague (Online and Offline) and doesn't care about the VC oriented modes...

                            Cheers! ;-)

Re: Simnation are y'all still around?

I'm a bit different when it comes to the Take Over element. I'm actually extremely excited about this as long as it's implemented correctly, and I don't see any reason why it wouldn't be.

There are game changers who can have a huge impact on the game, in every facet of the game. Look at a guy like Lance Stephenson, who isn't the purest scorer in the world, and doesn't normally take over (he could, but still), but doing the energy/hustle plays, and everyone feeds off of that. It can change the game quickly.

Scoring wise, I miss the Inside Drive days where Kobe would get going, or Vince, and they'd get the little fire emblem next to their name. You'd be playing the game, and then they'd start warming up, hitting from everywhere on the floor. It was your mission to cool them off, and not let them take completely over the game. Then the little fire would hit, and you knew you were in for it then. It makes you really change your game plan, and try to figure out how on earth you stop him. Inside Drive had it to where the "hot or cold" streak carried over into the next games, which is awesome. I've pitched this several years running, and I'm glad it's coming back.

I can't speak for the streets mode, but I'm glad it's coming as a franchise only player. I love seeing guys go off.

I'm optimistic about everything I'm seeing right now. I know they have a phenomenal dev team, who can put a product on the floor that is amazing. The warping, the glitching, the comeback code (we all know there's something there to help keep the game close)... there's no need for those things. I want them to give me a SIM product, that respects human movement and abilities, without the cheese. I want to lose because the cpu executed their gameplan better than I did, not because they had defenders warping into position to contest otherwise open shots. I'm cautiously optimistic that this year will be one huge step closer to getting that.

I know this thread is for sim nation, Ive been a long time lurker, just looking for a few folks to chat with. Im mainly a MyGm/MyLeague player, occasionally my career, but never online. ( just a preference)

For anyone who has played the early build, has anything changed with the OTF Sub menu( does it show the stamina like it did in previous versions except last year) I also hope there are CPU timeouts this year as for me it was little things like that which killed 2k18 for me.

Looking forward to chatting with you guys, hope im welcome!
