Lockdowns were practically useless in 2k18.
lol they weren't "practially useless" last year they were game changers defensively. the only reason they are meta know is because they are knock down shooters with some slashing ability now.

The stealing animations they can trigger now as well by spamming X is the reason zone defense is viable.

They really weren't 'game changers' defensively.

1.) Defensive Stopper and Rim Protector didn't work the way they were supposed to. (HOF only dropped other HOF badges to bronze, instead of cancelling them out completely, which meant an offensive player still held the advantage against them)

2.) They could still get dropped by Playmakers spamming enough dribbles, because Ankle Breaker was never canceled out like it should have been

3.) They suffered from consistent blowby animations just like everyone else, which should NOT have been possible

4.) Pick Dodger? Lmaoooo yeah okay

As an offensive player, I literally had no fear of a pure Lockdown guarding me. They weren't worth the trouble of grinding. Why do you think they're so powerful this year?

P.S.: They've always had the slashing ability, dating back to 2k17.

You are correct. They weren't that great in 2k18 but the buff in 2k19 is ridiculous. 2k has to find a balance some kind of way next year.

2k19 killed my pro-am team. late in 2k18 we had developed 15 or so play that we ran mostly out of the Horns set, but the absolute abuse of square killed almost all of our plays we ran and practiced. It is nearly impossible to make a decent pass inside as players lunge from 8 feet away and palm the pass far too often.

We tried to be anti-monkey see monkey do on offense, refused to run 5 out and had success practicing and running a variation of different plays, then 2k killed it.

No sir this is the first time they had "slashing ability". They are legit slashers and with silver corner specialist can hit 70% of open looks.

The best defenders in the NBA get blow by every single time its better than the stone wall defense in 2k19 the difference with a lock last year however was their ability to recover and affect a shot.

The only difference with them this year is the fact they can pass as slashers.

gotta take away their silver corner, silver poster and bronze relentless finisher. They'll still be capable defensively and create FB opportunities.

Lockdowns can make 3's all over the court. It's really sad how bad it is.

I’ve seen a guy playing a build like that, he wasn’t impressive though, seemed like a wasted build to me.
However to touch in the post before yours, I have a 6’7” 225 pound PF Shot Creating Rim protector. It’s my favorite build this year. I can shoot from anywhere, handle the ball well enough to run point guard, and guard any build besides a skilled 7’3” pure glass.
Shooting is too easy if you find your base and I’m not even using one of the “preferred” bases.

My slashing post has been so good since I’ve hit 94. Before that I hated him . Even give lockdowns trouble .

I didn't know this until it was waaaay tooo late into the year, but you can pull off crossovers with the left trigger.

You get a D-Wade/Kawhi Leonard type of crossover when you do it. It's actually re-invigorated my love for the game again. Don't actually have to speedboost to combo dribble moves together to get by defenders reliably anymore.

this feature is underrated, they had it in 2k18 as well.
if you use it right you can pull off some nice maneuvers vs the defense

One thing I really hope for next year is that the created players can match an NBA player's athleticism

Just messing around in all star team up makes it feel like a COMPLETELY different game (And then you're like, oh yeah this game has commentary too)

Definitely gonna stick to one build next year...maybe 3. Ended the year with a bunch of 90s and surprisingly stuck with a rebounding athletic PF. I don’t know how you guys do it, sticking with 1 build throughout the game cycle. I need variety lol

I like how you SAID ONE BUILD....ok maybe three.

You gonna make an entire starting lineup and you know it [emoji23]

I am the same way --- I'm always thinking yeah this is the year I'm gonna get a super high overall. But nope. It's why I'm hoping they bring back the 2k16 universal progression rather than just progressing one at a time.

I have a few circles that I play with and sometimes other builds are needed. Wish 2k wouldn't short change us for trying to fit in.

As usual I'll probably make a playmaker, an off ball scoring build, and a rebounding rim protector type again.

Yeaaaa...thats the problem I have as well. Gonna try to be a bit smarter this year at least with builds lol. Most likely start with a reb/athletic since the beginning usually have everyone bricking left and right. But my solution to NOT making a whole line up this year is pretty much the same as yours. 1 big, 1 wing versatile guy and probably a sharp point forward to end the year..hopefully
