Had most epic game using Bulls vs Rockets. Thought im screwed as it about to start, but opponent were kind of in the 2k18 habits . Only what was really annoying is ridiculous high chance to hit contested threes. Whanever I was pulling out a lead he was hitting contested corner threes to come back.

So for now. I like the game but too much majors problems :

- Def off ball is stupid. It just feels like playing against cpu.
- Fastbreak from these def off ball are too powerful. It's not normal that a guy who makes no effort in defense gets free points in fastbreak.
- Pick and roll has been nerfed but weirdly. I need to understand what to do but you can't finish at the circle as much as before. I guess you need to shoot more off dribble.
- Steal spam just breaks the rythm with all these fouls...it's really annoying.

You had some good impressions but this obsession some of you guys have with off-ball is really weird. Its like some of you have adopted the mentality of these Adolescent Park And-1 Dribble Gods lol. I've played online long enough to have seen alot. Different playstyles make the game good and keep it interesting. Your only real complaint re: the opponent is exploiting the AI/game mechanics or loopholes the devs didnt anticipate. In 2003 (the first year playstation had online play) SOCOM had people using a game shark to walk through walls, it also let you break tackles in Madden. In NBA 2K3 people could pause on you for hours. Madden 2005 had this as well. Madden 2006 had a run/pass glitch that let you see if the opponent was running or passing.......

I give these examples because the opponent is the opponent--you aren't supposed to like him and you'll probably like his decisions even less. Your job is to make sure he loses. NBA 2K6 was the first year with Catch/Shoot--keep in mind this was before real FG% so open shots went down at a really high rate. The best way to defend it was to control the defender chasing him (usually the 2) and fight through screens to contest the shot--technically that's off-ball defense lol. My boy plays with Dallas and after Tyson Chandler left they didnt have a competent rebounder or defender until DeAndre...he started controlling the center to cut down on the AI foolishness. I control Redick on defense for almost the same reason. Why would anyone have an issue with that? AGAIN: As long as neither person is exploiting the mechanics its fine.

Consider the problems 2K has with overhelp and leaving the SG open in the corner and then ask yourself how silly it is to be complaining that some people preemptively control the 2-guard so that DOESN'T happen.

Think about it: Why were speed boosting and sideline cheese so egregious? Why do we get mad when someone throws a long passes the entire game? Because their exploiting bad AI/loopholes in gameplay. If its that serious target them on D. Just know that not everyone's hiding and you may be in for a surprise re: their skill level.

One look at the bench points shows you handled yours. Most casuals cant play well with reserves. 9-12 from three for him tho? OUCH.

Lmao this is the only mode I’m consistently winning in. I’ve been getting my *** handed to me in MyCareer and MyTeam.

Played with the Raptors for the first time last night. Kawhi Leonard is scary man. Played against a Lakers user last night and made LeBron look like a complete fool.

If their offballing with their wings try using some manual cuts to the basket to catch them off guard.

If their offballing with the center, these guys usually like to hang back in the paint, so try pick and pops or pick and slips to throw them off.

I love this. I hate how off ball is so frowned upon. Like basketball is a 5 vs 5 game. Not one on one. On ball defense. Helpside defense. There’s different ways to win. Gotta adjust to your opponent. Why should I just control one player when I could control the on ball defender and helpside defenders? Team sport.

Get your main ball handlers pull up release down pat. Most guys off balling centers dont have their reads down and you can punish them in the midrange...

Been saying this for years! Guys primarily want you to play on-ball defense 24/7 so they can play one on one with dribble moves 24/7!

I play the position I play ONLY (Point guard) so aid you want to go one on one all game with your PG, I’m ready! But I’m not switching to wings or bigs to defend. I’ll play off ball defense and defense the passing lanes.

Guys make it sound like playing off ball is easy. I DARE these same guys that ONLY play on ball to try and chase a Kyle Korver or Steph Curry around a million screens and see how hard it is!

Defense isn’t JUST on-ball defense! There’s playing the passing lanes, denying, fronting, cutting off angles, knowing when to help!

Guys who complain about off-ball defense are usually the guys who run isolations ALL GAME LONG...usually clueless how to run a set/team offense.

But there definitely ARE people out there who play ZERO on-ball defense and switch off to anybody else except who’s guarding the ball and SOLEY try to play help defense. Those are the PURE scaredy-cats!
