I love this. I hate how off ball is so frowned upon. Like basketball is a 5 vs 5 game. Not one on one. On ball defense. Helpside defense. There’s different ways to win. Gotta adjust to your opponent. Why should I just control one player when I could control the on ball defender and helpside defenders? Team sport.

Been saying this for years! Guys primarily want you to play on-ball defense 24/7 so they can play one on one with dribble moves 24/7!

I play the position I play ONLY (Point guard) so aid you want to go one on one all game with your PG, I’m ready! But I’m not switching to wings or bigs to defend. I’ll play off ball defense and defense the passing lanes.

Guys make it sound like playing off ball is easy. I DARE these same guys that ONLY play on ball to try and chase a Kyle Korver or Steph Curry around a million screens and see how hard it is!

Defense isn’t JUST on-ball defense! There’s playing the passing lanes, denying, fronting, cutting off angles, knowing when to help!

Guys who complain about off-ball defense are usually the guys who run isolations ALL GAME LONG...usually clueless how to run a set/team offense.

But there definitely ARE people out there who play ZERO on-ball defense and switch off to anybody else except who’s guarding the ball and SOLEY try to play help defense. Those are the PURE scaredy-cats!

I guess I don't mind off-ball online. But when your sitting right next to me in a room. I don't want to see you just hanging on to the star player. My cousin still sits there and watches the play art trying to steal every ball.

hahahaha Damn on the early call out.. The game is only a few days old.

Man I stopped caring about my record a long time ago. I usually do my GOAT run, then I'll do stuff like try to win with Iversons Sixers, start games just to try stuff out, let me nephew's play etc.

With the format this year, its YOLO.

I have to say I'm pretty happy with the game so far.

It seems like, at least up to this point, the players that have the best records I've played aren't running around like a chicken with the head cut off.

The top guys with 80% record or better seem to play a pretty calm game with very little shenanigans. The ones I've come across with poor records are the ones that play poor basketball. It's almost as if they don't know how to do anything else but jack up threes, double team and attempt steals. Half the time theyre not even giving the ball to their best player on offense.

If the game can continue playing like this with true bball heads getting the wins, then I'll be a happy man this year. I've won 13 out of 15 games. And havent felt "stressed out" playing these randoms like I have been in the past.

BINGO. Chasing guys is a chore. What is this 1-on-1 in the park? In the end online's reward is variety of team, opponent and play-style. As long as the other player isn't abusing the AI/game mechanics or loopholes you got no complaints.

Just played my first game against a Spurs user. As stated above me, this was kinda a nice relaxing game of basketball. I'm pleasantly surprised. Nice slow pace. The rebounds and steals made sense. I can tell that 2K18 has me somewhat trained not to hit the steal button, since it felt like it started this long drawn out animation. The lab of bobble animations, and the new contest logic makes the game sooooooooo much better. It nice to have a play develop, and being able to hit the man and shoot as soon the player slides off a screen.

Going to use Dallas next as my Tier 3 team once I get some practice in. I haven't decided on Tier 1 team yet, because it makes me sick to my stomach use an elite team.

EDIT: And I'm discovering why it's a bad idea for 2K Sports to force people to use different teams. I don't know crap about a team's bench and their overall tendencies.

For those experiencing the jersey glitch, when do you think happens?

When only you change it?
When only your opponent changes it?
When both of you changes it?
While you're still at the jersey selection?
When you change it and move to another selection?

Maybe we figure out a temporary workaround.

It happened to me 3 out of 4 games. 2 games I selected non-white jerseys and 2 games I selected nothing. When I selected them I changed them in jersey selection, made other changes, then returned to the main view. If either team selects any jersey they will both most likely end up white in game.

Game 1: Selected jersey - white/white
Game 2: Selected jersey - white/white
Game 3: No selection - color/color
Game 4: No selection - white/white

I hope there is a fix soon. I'll have to hold off on PNO until then.

And I obviously got my *** kicked by a Knicks fan. There's nothing worse than using a team and having no clue about their strengths and weaknesses other than what you saw on Sportscenter.

There's no shame in the loss, but it does reinforces my belief that this new format was a stupid idea.

I was fine getting games this whole time. But then I got to Junior College and it was taking forever.

I just assumed it was because there weren't that many players available looking for a game...

Xbox One X players is the stuttering noticeable online? I've seen it offline on broadcast cam. Not sure if the PS4 Pro is affected,

OMG! OMG! OMG!

We're sleeping on the Player control part! It's in the name, but there's something that we're probably not aware of. It counts towards your record, AND it counts towards your required number of wins for that tier.

5 humans vs 5 humans. You get to pick your position, and you choose from a list of players for that respective tier. By coincidence, everyone ended up quitting in the game I played except for me. I got credit for the win, and I got credit for completing Tier 3.

I can do this instead of learning a whole team [emoji3].

Geez, the AI is a challenge. I was Lebron, and Covington roasted me for 26 points. My teammate quitted, but we were down. As a result, I didn't get win nor a loss.
