Re: NBA 2K20 Will Feature the WNBA
Do you guys think this move will bring more eyes to the WNBA on a nightly/weekly basis? I'm not being facetious, I'm genuinely asking. Do you think it may have been as much of the NBA's idea to do this as it was 2k's? The league needs any help it can get because it is still losing money annually, so I would not be surprised if the NBA had a big hand in getting this into the game to try and bring more attention to the league.
Also, the "losing money annually" is a bit false. The NBA claims that its losing money but it refuses to open the books to the WNBAPA to support that argument. The reason being that they want to keep player's salaries low.
I dont think that the WNBA is a cash cow but the costs in running that league are minimal. Salaries are low. Teams either play in venues that are owned by the team ownership or that have incredibly low venue fees (like Westchester for NY and Mandalay Bay for Vegas).
Attendance has declined but thats primarily because teams used to paper (give away free tickets) the **** out of arenas like MSG or Verizon Center to make those cavernous arenas look somewhat full. Now that teams like DC, and NY have moved into smaller arenas, the numbers are smaller simply because they can fill those arenas without giving away a ton of free tickets.Comment

I know they said its scaled to real life, but it doesn't seem to fully translate over.
EA overdid the size of their courts and no one bats an eyeComment

I think the player dimensions are accurate, but the moves we take up so much physical space ot feels like the court is small. As an example, a moving behind the back dribble can take 5 feet of space in the game. Way too much.
As for the WNBA, great move. Hopefully there are female MyPLayers aswell.Comment

It would be a shame to let Da_Czar's work be wasted when he's created all the spacing he could in the offense.
To their credit 2k used to have super small courts and they worked on them over the years.Comment
