    * likewise, is blocking shots going to be actually worthwhile instead of always going straight back into the offensive player's hand for an easy score?

    * is getting blocked by players butts who mistime their blocks still going to be a thing?

    * are low-rated shooters still going to be able to hit half/more than half of their open shots if you choose to gap them on D (as they should be in any proper strategy)?

    * is stealing/intercept spam still going to be far too overpowered?

    * are floaters still basically useless/get blocked every time? they were fine in 2K15/16 and have been mostly worthless ever since

    * are big/slow builds still going to be able to keep up with maximum speed guards?

There are so many legacy issues that haven't gotten a mention that my hype level is lower than it's been for a long time :\
Thiiiiiis. The real gameplay stuff we'd like to know.

"To put it simply, movement is no longer driven by animations. Now, the stick input and a player’s attributes are the sole components driving how your character moves around the court. This gave us the ability to control exactly how quickly a given player can accelerate, decelerate, cut, and turn, as well as his speeds for different states (walking, running, shuffling, sprinting, etc.) simply based on his attributes. The new motion engine then takes this data and dynamically finds and stitches together the animations it needs, in real time, to animate the character. Nothing is canned, nothing pre-determined, everything is done on the fly. The results are night and day and something you’ll notice as soon as you pick up the sticks this year. "

Oh I got one..."balance" just look up blogs about badges lol I just shook my head when Mike said balance this year again because I just know it's going to be a bunch of sharp builds in 2k20.

IMO 2K18's movement did actually feel good, free....to the point there was a lot of clipping and a bit of disconnect between players at times....so I see what they were going for with their implementation....but implementation isnt always (or rarely) 100% successful. Oddly enough, people were calling for 2K18's movement back a week into 2K19, lol

I personally dont look at these blogs as "This is what we put in place, and it is guaranteed to work without flaw"...but moreso the vision. Sometimes it doesn't work out as planned.

23! But that’s the usual case. Patching, is good to fix the odd anomaly but fixing that causes problems in other areas. You just can’t win. If you notice always the first 1-2 months of date release everyone or most of everybody is happy with game play that they noticed odd stuff but willing to accept it. But once the patch comes that’s when people start complaining.

Hmmmm.....We all have our POV re: games and how they were at launch versus after....personally i've never known patching to make a sports title worse. It fixes so many smaller and medium issues that I just don't know how we can say that with the benefit of hindsight. From my vantage 2K18 was one of the worst because it essentially gave everyone the ability to drive to the basket, which broke the game horribly. But like 24th Letter mentioned, sometimes that's just an issue with implementation.

Because the game absolutely had the tools within it for balance--we just didn't see them enough for them to be relevant. Both Organic Charges and Redirect animations that gave dribblers freedom of motion (but didn't let them get to the rim) were present...

2K18 was definitely the worse with NBA 2K12 and 2K13 behind. I mainly played the PNO mode, and it sucked that everyone and their momma could do the blowby animation. Bums would just call the 5-Out or 4-1 plays in NBA 2K18, then try to force the blowby animation on every possession.

The PNO mode pretty much tells you every year what is the most abused tactic in H2H competition.

2K16 was by far the best of this generation in my opinion gameplay-wise... and most of the features/servers in that iteration all actually worked (no broken MyTeam auction house/99 rated JR Smiths, Play Now Online tier system worked, 3 point shooting wasn't as ridiculously easy as it is now, etc. etc.)

2K19 could have been better but every player being able to nail 3 pointers at an unrealistic rate killed things quickly.
I rarely disagree with you. But I think 19 has been one the best 2k's in this generation. The addition of putting defenders in jail on the pick and roll has opened another skill layer (I know must don't even use it). I think MY TEAM is the worst part of 2k. Or any 5 on 5. Talent level is all over the place. That can be blamed on the cards not the game.

I hated 19. But, with proper slider, tendency and rating adjustments it is a decent game. Default sliders 19 is my least favorite .

There are so many things I loved about this year. The biggest thing has been the contesting. Something that drove me crazy from 16. Is that the users didn't contest shots. The CPU did. So they made this game where the human didn't have input on the most important thing. I love shooting someone eyes out with the right player.

The post game is light years ahead of 16. And the part I love the list about this year is the rebounding.
