So....has anyone created a build that THEY wanted and wasn't influenced by the meta or YouTube creators? I can understand creating a build then discovering it's not what you expected. For example...are sharpshooters really sharpshooters, because they dreamed of becoming the next Ray Allen or Reggie Miller? Or...are they sharpshooters, because everyone else is?

I know that I had build in my mind, and I created it accordingly. I watch YouTube to get a better understanding of the badges, but that's about it.

Yup. I'm really trying to create an Iverson-like build. Giant Slayer, Acrobat, Slithery Finish, and Contact Finisher are a must for this build. From my experience (and it could be due to my playstyle), Fancy Footwork rarely activates if at all. Side note...not all dribble packages are created equal. Irving's dribble moves tend to create more Ankle Breakers, and has an interesting snatch back dribble that creates a crazy amount of space. Smack on that HOF First Step and Space Creator, and it's damn near an instant blow-by animation.

Contrary to popular belief, the only negative that I'm finding with the build is that I don't pick up as many fouls as I thought I would when I attack the paint against the bigs.

6`2 or 6`1 2way slashing playmaker is the way to go.

All three of my builds are what I wanted. I just think about how I want to play and what I'll enjoy. Like you, I just figure out what badges I need and I'm good. Like, I know I'm not a dribble person, so at max, my dribbling badges will be silver (HFD or Tight Handle for example). But my passing is usually maxed out because I love passing (Dimer, Needle Threader). Honestly, I haven't watched 2K YouTube in quite some time. Or YouTube in general for that matter lol.

Yeah, everyone told me not to make my 2way play making SF. But that's my favorite build. I'm only grinding out this new paint beast because i was disappointed in how i made the last one.

The only **** I watch is 2klabs. Most youtubers y’all out of their *** anyway.

They always run premades, controlled environments.
1vs1 or 2vs2, boring as ****.

Yeah, if i had waited to play after Luka started dominating i wouldn't be as upset with Career. Every time i play with my best build in Career i have to cringe watching a terrible Luka play nothing like himself. This is why i only play with him online, which is why I've gone from a 99 to a 95 since they changed the Rec match making. I used to dominate with him in Rec with randoms. But now i can only bring him out if I've got a full 5 I'm confident in.

My new paint beast needs work, but he's fun. I've been dominating on the Knicks.

Atleast they test the mechanics in a reliable way, which makes their advice sound.

True that. I like seeing the numbers/percentages of the badges, because it helps me determine how high I want to upgrade a badge. If my playstyle allows me to use only Bronze instead of "assuming" that I need HOF, then I'm all for that. I don't care about jumpshots, because I'm more than likely going to shoot open shots. I pick the one that looks the closest to my real life jumper and keep it moving.

I've said this before in other threads. When it comes to any multiplayer games, I choose what I choose, and I like what I like. In some cases, I swear that I go out of my way not to be like everyone else. Using COD as my go-to example, it seems like I tend to like and use (by coincidence) the least popular guns in the game.

Every year, I make a 6'7 2 way slasher a la Shawn Marion.
This year, I made a 6'9 pure sharp sf because my shot timing is horrid and I wanted the biggest buffer possible so I can be a threat from deep.
It was a revelation as that's a great stretch build with 8 defensive badges.

i live by this also lol i just can’t use the same exact animations as everybody else. dare to be different in a society where everybody is the same right 🤷🏼*♂️

Agreed.

Doing what works for yourself is always going to yield the best results.

What works for 1 person does not mean it works for everybody else.

People just use the easy route.

You dont need a 7’3 rebounding rim protector to lock down the paint and grab all defensive rebounds.

Other builds can do just that if you have the skills....

Sure... Until you meet that 7'3 99 OVR Elite that ONLY rebounds and sets screens.

I'm 6'9 and usually demolish my match up on the glass. Those guys i won't get a rebound for 3 quarters.
