Official 2k20 MyPlayer Build Thread.
So I'm still in the testing phase of trying builds out and seeing what works. I had a playmaking shot creator but I wanted something different. Slashing playmaker and playmaking shot creator seem to be the meta op builds at the moment.
I came across Derek Harper on the all-time Mavs roster and they had his playstyle as an all-around 2 way. I tried to make the same build, unfortunately for some strange reason 2K only allows you to create this build at 6"1 if you're a point guard. However, I know this build can be made as a SG.
The build has a downside just like any other build, it's different and fun to play with. But has anyone else figured out how to make this build at a taller height?
I think the closest you can get is a two-way sharpshooter, the mostly red and green pie. I play with one at SG at 6’6. Finishes well, shoots well, handles okay and defends very well. I use boosts on the shooting and playmaking, but you may not need it if you’re shorter than 6’6. Once you start getting badges it really becomes an all-around build and reminds me a lot of the two way shot creator from 2k19. The only thing you won’t be able to do is rebound. This is about how I did my specs. I haven’t seen the build at all playing rec, park or pro am but it’s been great for me so far.

Re: Official 2k20 MyPlayer Build Thread.
After playing on my Two Way Slashing Playmaker for a while i figured something less common would be fun, only played HOF Career so far but I'm already suprised how good it is defensively, has a 39% opponent FG.Comment

The two way stretch I looked at can get 23 defensive badges, gotta admit I kind of wanted more....but I do want to be able to stretch the floor
rim protector atleast silver i guess.
post lock down silver
rebound chaser and boxout with moving truck.
brickwall seems good as well.
others probably have better suggestions though.Comment

Intimidator and Rim Protector should be at least Gold imo. I also really like Pogo Stick because it allows me to be more reckless chasing blocks and recovering.
Boxout and Brickwall at Silver at least. Worm is actually pretty good if you want to pursue offensive rebounds or if you’re dealing with a paint camper in your own end.
For a big, I still think Interceptor and Pickpocket on bronze is a benefit. I also like to have at least one Chasedown upgrade.Comment

I'm totally fine being a role player especially cause it's my build to play with randoms if my pals aren't around, but I keep bouncing around, undecided.
I really could just go for the pure defensive C type, max weight and height, just get easy Barbara Walters and call it a day........but that is kind of boring to me to make a build everyone else does.
It just kind of sucks that if you want more than one badge on an archetype that's secondary, that you gotta spend a **** ton of points in stuff you won't care about, just to get badge count up
Also this is for my guard: pro touch or consistent finisher? I guess I'm not the most gifted at getting greens on these but I wasn't sure which would help me out more. I get 15 badges for finishing, 9 will be taken by contact finisher, acrobat, and fancy footwork. I figured the other 6 can go to some combo of slithery/pro/consistent#1 Laker fan

Re: Official 2k20 MyPlayer Build Thread.
Half sharpshooter half defender is definitely the best big man pie chart in the game.
Having an open paint where any of your teammates can drive in or cut through without the other team's center helping off your team's big man makes offense so easy that you should be able to score 90 to 100 points a game against bad teams and 70 to 80 points a game against good teams.
I hate how necessary quick draw is to do post moves and take jump shots at a decent speed on a 6'10" or taller player. You pretty much have to go up to gold at minimum, and then go all the way up to hall of fame if you plan on taking more than 4 or 5 shots a game for your team.
Having all those hall of fame shooting badges also lets you not worry about your three point rating getting dropped by height + wingspan and just let the power of the purple badges make your shots go in.Last edited by jyoung; 10-06-2019, 08:49 AM.Comment

Rubbish.
This whole Notion of having the big man standing in te corner is rubbish. That’s for people who have no ball iq
I post up on the high or low block, on the weak side.
The post up animation usually makes the opposing center sticking on to you, clearing up the lane. He’ll usually be too late to come off you to contest, and if he does, the driver can give me the ball for an easy dunk.
I’m a 7”2 andahalf (metric system) with max wingspan. I dropstep or do hooks all game long.
Way more versatile and useful than just another tall cornerpost.
And with 91 interior defence, length and wingspan and 12 defence badgepoints, i’m also good enough on the defensive side.
I’m so tired of people thinking bigs are just there to grab rebounds, set screens or stand in the ****ing corner all game.Comment

Re: Official 2k20 MyPlayer Build Thread.
He's talking about from a competitive standpoint in which case he's 100% true. 3/D Center is the best big man build in the game. If your offense is relying on taking contested inside shots, you're doing it wrong. Every team at a competitive level doesn't need a scoring big man because they get uncontested layups/dunks from rolls because their matchup had to sell out to stop a three pointer.
Ah yes, comp.
Probably why the 2kleague puts anyone to sleep with how they play.
