Imagine the right stick like a clock. When you do a full spin. You're spinning toward the bottom half of the clock. But with a fake or half spin. You're actually going upward (on the ball hand side).Hands Down....Man Down - 2k9 memories

Yes, you still can. But it's an extra button tap. And the player has to have in their playbook (I think). If you tap L1, R1 and then the player you want to post up. You'll see the set up for "player name" And then floppy, low post, and etc.Hands Down....Man Down - 2k9 memories

Re: NBA 2K20 Teach Me How to Thread: Tips, Mechanics, Defense, + Plays
Agree mbless, I think in my opinion it would help if you could do it quicker. To me there's no difference between tapping L1 and having to tap L1, R1 quickly, but you actually have to wait that extra moment for the first screen to appear. This may not seem like a huge difference but if I do it too quickly the game doesn't recognize the R1 input and I have to hit it again.
It's rough because before, you could call a play, run it and if it wasn't working out, switch to another. With having to wait that extra second on each step of calling the play, you're pretty limited to one play per possession unless you get an offensive rebound. And even then, because there's no hurry up option, your team takes forever to set up and you really don't have time to call another play and run more than one action. Super frustrating.
I love this idea!!!!!Last edited by jeebs9; 09-27-2019, 05:07 PM.Hands Down....Man Down - 2k9 memories

Re: NBA 2K20 Teach Me How to Thread: Tips, Mechanics, Defense, + Plays
I need help finishing driving layups please
The new gather system doesn't seem to respond to the old inputs
eg. reverse layups pushing opposite way of left stick direction often leads to weird leaning off the glass layups on near side. I've only triggered them by pressing down now but its inconsistent and sometime I go for floaters at the really wrong time.
Sometimes I'll tap square for a hop step gather and he'll just hop step into a very early shot that misses horribly - on 2k19 I would often hop step with square and then make the read on the layup or dish - so this is often ruinous for me.
I can be crossing the basket from the left to the right just past the charge zone, holding up right (1/2 o'clock) and I will do a left handed layup at times... if I press right he does a hop step and I can get blocked.
Also for driving dunks: they don't always trigger even if I have a completely clear lane (defender on other side of the basket or trailing), and I can get blocked - my driving dunk is 87 and I have gold contact finisher
has anyone got any tips please?
Things I've figured out:
using square seems to be more effective
pressing square closer to the rim leads to better shot selections - even if it makes more sense to just quickly lay it in from further back (smh)
letting go of sprint once you have the shoulder allows you to make more layups (still inconsistent levels of contesting - even after the patch today)
getting acrobat on silver sometimes I can just double tap square and make the layup but it feels cheesy and devoid of the skill I like to employ when getting to the hoop.
standing layups are best when stood almost directly under the basket now
They don't trigger consistently for me, even if no defender is there (practicing on MyCourt).
I have to admit, i didn't really play 2k19, I'm coming straight off of playing two years of 2k18. So a lot of things feel very different.
Can someone share some insight? Especially on: Where on the court do you start the move? What exactly are you inputting?
Edit after patch 1.05 came out:
"Reverse dunks" not triggering correctly was addressed in the patch. Haven't done testing though.Last edited by theman824; 10-01-2019, 10:14 AM.Comment

Re: NBA 2K20 Teach Me How to Thread: Tips, Mechanics, Defense, + Plays
Can't play defense to save my life. I've tried the Sam Pham methods but once you play guys that have badges and are fast you automatically get blown by. Big men in this game are slow as hell when trying to play help defense, feels like guys will score before I even get to have my centre turn around.
All I'm seeing now when I play online 5v5 is the 2k18 meta of 5 out and iso with the pg because of how easy it is to get driving layups and I can't do anything other than try to play offballComment

I never play MyCareer mode but my son wants to and we are having some trouble getting started.
We can use the builder but there is no option to actually start a career.
Do we have to test the build before we can start? HALP.Comment

It’s best to have an open lane and a pretty good dunker. I don’t think they’re going to let you nba jam every time with even the best dunkers. There are a lot of bad scripted animations in the paint I wish they’d fix but I play on HOF offline and can’t really speak on other modesComment

stopping lol
You can also switch hands before going up. And then pausing and switching and holding the ball while in air. You can get a lot of and1 this way with certain players.Last edited by jeebs9; 10-18-2019, 01:26 PM.Hands Down....Man Down - 2k9 memories
