Re: NBA 2K20 Available Now on Xbox One and PlayStation 4, Post Impressions Here
I will just say as an offline gamer I think this is easily the best version of the last 3 years. Sliders can fix pretty much any issue for me. I’d like to see DHOs implemented better and see the cpu use more of them. I’d like to see more in game injuries. While some patches have changed things a lot I haven’t had any major problems with them. I’m still loving the game.
The offence and defence feels pretty balanced to me and ratings on both sides of the ball matter. Good defenders can clamp down, shot blockers are dangerous, first steps and quickness are done well. Quick shot releases are valuable too. I’d prefer they bring back contested shot ratings instead of badges but this game is still great to me (offline anyways, I don’t play online).Comment

But I started a franchise and I've been pretty impressed with the gameplay from game to game.
I would like players to show more signature moves tho. I played the Rockets and never saw Harden do one step back. That was kind of disappointing. Very good game though.

I don't know, I like 2k20 better than 2k18, but less than 2k19. Offline is fine but there are still many legacy issues. If you are playing myleague, chemistry is a problem, player mentorship, many little things that need to be tuned and fixed. And if you want to get a solid gameplay you have to spend hours tuning the sliders.
CPU greening shots is probably the most annoying thing added in the last couple of years if you are a sim player. If they add something like that in 2k21 I really don't know If i am going to get it. At least give us the option to disable itComment

This is from an offline myleague/gm perspective, pc version
more time with 2k20 for the past several days.
solid game but the game play is difficult. like other have said pride may be getting int the way when choosing what level to play on.
I may have to play on rookie level for a bit.
first and foremost the game sliders for on court gameplay, and the way you would set up a gm/my league mode is deep.
if you like the my league game mode and you like 90s style basketball, half court slower pace, You'll be able to make the adjustments in the my league gameplay settings.
the financial slider adjustments and how it impacts the game and its players is a bit too cumbersome for me. I eventually left that at default. if sports finances are your thing, you probably wont be disappointed.
the way players progress and regress is just as deep. want shooters to develop there jumper faster. well its in the progression sliders.
you can adjust just about anything and everything with sliders. dont think those sliders exist, they most likely do, you just ahve to did into all the settings.
one thing Ive been complaining about for the past several years is the in game adjustments when calling timeouts. its too convoluted and layered. they need to stream line this. go back to the 2k15/2k16 layout for time outs. as it stands adjustments etc can not be done in 1 minute without pausing the game. I lose immersion because of this.
game play controls. I have to relearn the game. I see what 2k is doing, but man, learning all the new game play control features is hard, and takes alot to get used to.
2k isnt making the gameplay more arcadey, they are just making the game more stick skill dependent. I would imagine that in the future dribbling wont be automatic. youll eventually have to tap a lt/lb or rt/rb button to initiate a dribble bounce of the ball. As it stands you have to do this on defense to stay and move in position.
I still dislike the way I have to call plays.
the game is logical in all aspects.
only thing I really dislike is that the ai controlled team on defense is always in proper position, while the user controlled team and its ai teammates are always out of position. they perform like "chickens running with their heads cut off". its very annoying.
I know 2k wants to get the game as user controlled as it can, but again its annoying.
overall, IMO, the game is the best since 2k16.Last edited by tril; 11-30-2019, 08:07 AM.Comment

So I feel like I need to update my recent criticisms. Idk if there was a patch or if things are just playing out different, but I feel like the game is playing different for me, and in a positive way.
I'm currently 4-0 in MyLeague on Superstar, the mode I typically play on, and that might be a bit high as I'm using the Magic, but the games feel pretty good - for the most part.
The blow bys are definitely a problem, but I can only get them with certain guys - Markelle Fultz is definitely the best at it for me, and sometimes with Fournier, Gordon, Isaac, or Augustine - all guys who should be able to drive to the basket.
My shooting is more realistic. I'm around a low 30ish from 3, and a high 30ish, low 40ish in general. My original impressions stemmed from the fact that I was shooting 10ish with the same team on the same settings. 30ish isnt great, but neither is my team.
The results that seem unrealistic are the blow bys, and the blocks (I'm averaging like 7 blocks a game with Bamba), but again the blow bys are coming from guys I expect to be able to drive, and the blocks are coming from shot blockers with length (Bamba and Isaac).
I won't say it's realistic cuz idk that I should be averaging 25 a game with Fultz due to blow bys and free throws, averaging 7 blocks a game with Bamba, and winning sometimes by 20+), but it's at least been fun and enjoyable recently and at least I feel like I can utilize my players to their skill set, which wasnt the case in 2K19 or with my original games in 2K20.Current Franchise: NBA2K22 | Orlando Magic (1-2)

you cant touch offensive players what people call defense on 2k is a blocking foul.Comment

Re: NBA 2K20 Available Now on Xbox One and PlayStation 4, Post Impressions Here
Well that's just not true, if you beat the offensive player to the spot and he is the one initiating contact, it is not a foul.
But 2k20 1 on 1 defense is okay, and can be improved via sliders, 2k18 was a mess, so, not that big of a problem.Comment
