Re: 2k Killed the MYGM mode!
My pre-order wasn't arriving until tomorrow so I cancelled it. I primarily play MyGM and I tend to start and sim a season through a million MyGMs before I get a franchise I really like. I prefer that MyGM doesn't allow me to mess around in the sandbox much, but I always do custom rosters, draft classes, and sliders.
I was thinking that I'd still get the game and just transition over to MyLeague but decided to skip for now when I found out last year's bugs were still in the mode.
The MyGM thing feels to me like an attempt to maximize VC earning out the franchise mode.
It seems to me like 2k has a decision to make on consumers like me. I've faithfully bought the game every year since 2k11, play exclusively offline, and have never bought VC. I would continue to do so as long as they gave me incremental improvements and don't try to force me to buy VC. If they try to push me into buying VC or prevent me from playing the way I want, I will leave, but maybe they will get more VC out of the MyGM players who stay.
They can try to maximize VC and lose my 60 dollars every year (plus those of people like me), or they can leave VC out or certain modes and have my 60 dollars...
I guess it will be interesting to see what choice they make.Comment

Re: 2k Killed the MYGM mode!
That’s insane. Sorry I just logged in to get some info before I purchased and this ruined my day :/ Why not just remove the mode completely.."I'm so far ahead of my time, I'm bout to start another life
Look behind you, I'm bout to pass you twice
Back to the future and gotta slow up for the present
I'm fast, dudes can't get past my past
How they supposed to deal with my perfect present?"Comment

Re: 2k Killed the MYGM mode!
So there has been no word or response from the 2K team regarding the MyGM mode? I was really hoping this would be patched. I thought I might've skipped something so I restarted MyGM mode several times.....Comment

I’m right there with you brotha. I’ve never bought VC. And I’m strictly a MYGM player. I have not bought the show in 2 years due to the lack of effort put into their franchise mode. The only reason I played 2k was the improvements every year to MYGM.
The only “extra” VC I buy is the VC that comes with pre ordering the standard edition.
So I’m on the same page with you... 2K either takes my $60 and continues making improvements or this is the last year they get my money because I’m not spending any extra cash on digital currency for a video game. Maybe only losing you and me doesn’t make a difference to them, but hopefully over the course of time they see a drop in sales from people like us and make the right decision.
I’m tired of the money grabComment

Re: 2k Killed the MYGM mode!
The gameplay is definitely worth the buy. It’s a lot smoother and even the visual presentations look better and sharper which I didn’t think was possible considering we are getting to the end of PS4 shelf life.
But MYGM customization is so locked that you can’t even choose the opposing team’s uniforms. So they are either playing in the home white or road color.
I also noticed that while the games that are summed
Must be 12 minute quarters cause they are all 90-115 scoring games. While your 6 minute quarter games you can only score realistically 70-90 consistently. So come award time, your team players stats are way lower than the rest of the league.
I can understand if maybe they ran out of ideas to add to MYGM so this whole leaderboard thing was to spice it up. But I can’t imagine that’s the case. They are money hungry and are solely focused on developing VC driven modes. And I’m sure it won’t be long before a patch comes in where you can buy more AP for VC or something along those lines.
I only play video games / 2K for the reason of playing MYGM and the realism of being a gm and immersing myself into that situation. Even though I’m going to play it, I’m not enjoying it as much as years in the past.
I would of enjoyed even getting features such as maybe trying to secure ESPN/TNT/ABC liscenses and have true showcase National TV games, even if they couldn’t get those liscenses, then making up their own form of different networks and being able to feel the difference between national TV games and regular games. Having variation of crowds depending on performance / spotlight games.
Or even just behind the scene GM stuff, I know this kind of stuff is corny but I think it would be cool.
Maybe being able to secure local TV network contracts. Earning the respect of the fan base, to either bring in a winner or tank and rebuild.
Have legit FA meetings where you are trying to sway big time free agents with your presentations
Or pre season media days
True player drama where maybe superstars cause problems if they want out or demanding to have a certain player on their team
Interviews with local radio or national radio stations
Even just more cutscene or interaction situations
Even if they ran out of “features” to add to MYGM, I would of loved to have more presentation type features that are behind the scene type things a owner/GM would do.
2K use to set the bar for what a franchise mode should be.
But the way i see it, they just dropped themselves back down to equivalent of the show and madden.
As a Baseball fan first, I haven’t bought the Show in 2 years due to how lazy they are with Franchise mode
This may be the last year I buy 2K for the same reason.
A lazy year of development when it comes to MYGM this year
I forgot to mention in this post ^
I restarted MyGM 4 times, because i kept swimming through games from those stupid action points.
But everytime I restarted the mode. Playing as the Rockets.
Right after my introductory meeting with the Owner. The mode would automatically have signed Jonas Jerepko to a contract before I even did anything.
Anyone else run into this problem? Either signing him or another player automatically?
I feel like that’s the same as the story mode that one year where the owner was forcing it down your throat to sign X player that brought no value to the team.
(Jonas ends up working out cause he’s a stretch 4 who can shoot the 3. But I just had other pieces in mind and he gets in the way in my lineup 😂 )Comment

The auto signing might be due to the Rockets not having enough players in the Official 2K Roster.Comment

Re: 2k Killed the MYGM mode!
First off, let me say that I agree with the general point of this thread: I miss the customization of the old MyGM mode from last year.
I prefer mygm to myleague because of the RPG elements but I still like some of the customization from myleague -- I want my cake and I want to eat it.
Right now, my only two problems with the current mode in 2k20 are lack of custom rosters and inability to normalize stats. Hopefully these are patchable and can be fixed.
All that said, it's funny how things change. I remember when 2k14 came out and introduced MyGM. Here are some of the hyperbolic posts that were made then:
https://forums.operationsports.com/f...tion-mode.html
https://forums.operationsports.com/f...shed-mygm.html
https://forums.operationsports.com/f...tion-mode.html
Now there's a thread in the Madden forum about why they can't make a game like 2K. This is a company that likes to try things and innovate. Sometimes they get it right and sometimes not so much. Five years ago, this mode was hated and now there's a thread lamenting its demise. Things ebb and flow -- it's frustrating but let's try to stick to the facts and cut the drama about killing a mode. Between NHL, Madden and NBA, the forums are full of exaggeration recently and I just needed to get this off my chest.Comment

But seriously, 2K killed MyGM and there are absolutely zero exaggerations about it. Imagine if 2K decided that MyPark would no longer allow users to play with their own MyPlayer, and forced everyone to play with a predetermined build. This is what they have essentially done with MyGM. It's the same thing they did with NBA2K20's CAP faces not being able to be sculpted. They killed the CAPs for that year, and this year they killed MyGM mode. 2K isn't EA. MyGM wasn't hot garbage like Madden's CFM mode. MyGM was good at worst, and a revolutionary mode at best! Then they turned it into a "fun" mode for the adults who buy the game for their kids on Christmas, only for the kid to head straight to MyPark and the parent never touches the game again.Comment

So I hear difficulty is locked in MyGm? If so what difficulty is it?Comment

Re: 2k Killed the MYGM mode!
Most likely pro. Every game for me was insanely easy before i ditched the mode.
2K wants this to be a text/interaction sim and nothing more.

Yikes! I would have respected these decisions more if 2K had just removed the ability to play games altogether, like in 2K5, where Association Mode was some kind of card game.Comment
