He's Director of Digital Marketing. He used to be a community manager back on the original 2K Sports Forum.

This is EASILY the most confusing first week of any game I have ever played. And it sucks because the core gameplay makes me bite my lower lip the same way Angelina Jolie does, then the bugs make me explode like she did in the Tomb Raider games. This game reminds me of a relationship where your wife is the perfect woman up until the kids go off to college. You guys were supposed to spend this new found alone time to have fun and relive the dating experience you had before the kids were born, but the more time you two spend alone, the more you realize just how far you have grown apart. She doesn't enjoy watching you play 2K anymore because she hates MyLeague's lack of RPG elements. She doesn't bring you Mountain Dew in a green Gatorade bottle like she used to. She's changed... and the game you used to love changed with her. While you were in bed, sleeping so you would be ready for a long day at work the next morning, she was up all night talking to other men on the internet. You wake up the next day expecting to see her lovely silhouette in front of the glorious morning sun, but all you see is darkness. The window is covered with a velvet drape. As you begin to fully awaken, you hear a faint voice coming from an omniscient source. "Give it to me", the voice says. You stand up before your heart is able to drop. The shoes your wife bought you for your anniversary are by the bedside. Left foot. In. Right foot. In. Everything that has happened in your relationship up until this point is conjured up into your memory, then erased with the swiftness of a Mike Wang patch. One step. Stop. Two steps. Stop. Eventually, these steps end. What exists at this end is nothing less than your new reality...

You peer into the living room of your 5 bedroom forever home and see a sight that will forever change your perception of life and everything that relates to it...

      She's grinding badges.

A rush of raw emotion overcomes you and pervasively corrupts your mind, body, and soul, in a concoction of love, hate, and sadness that you never knew the human psyche could ever portray.

"Badges?!", you say to her. "You... you... how could you do this to me?! After all of the posts you've proof-read for me on Operation Sports... you do this?! What happened to my wife? The one who stayed up and watched videos of Da_Czar back in 2010 with me? The one who said that she'd rather be married to a pick setter than sharpshooter? Huh?! Where did sh... [heavy breathing ensues] Is that 150K VC....? [you begin pacing] Oh god why did this happen to me!?!? How could I be so stupid!? The late nights, the Pretty Ricky albums you've been listening to... it's all starting to add up. I can't believe I have been so blind... [you sink unto the floor; surrounded by your fallen tears]

Your wife looks into your soulless eyes and says the only thing that she knows to say...

"Mike Wang said he's gonna be dropping a patch soon, so I'm not gonna spend anymore VC until it drops."

You die. insert 50K VC to try again

No he's not the community manager.

Doesn't even matter, the type of disrespect on Twitter is uncalled for.

they are human beings and can have mistakes, but when they are trying to milk you for VC, and the game is not even released in a playable state, then thats why the outcry happens, being a human being doesnt excuse laziness, being a human being doesnt excuse the radio silence in all communication forms from 2k, the only thing they fix is VC glitches, they do gameplay wide changes that absolute destroy the balance of the game only to change it back 2 days later

its amazing how the videogame industry is, you are paying for a product and you should be assured a quality, a decent customer support and an explanation of all facets of what you are buying, 2k just spits into our faces every year and you still have people saying "poor devs, the toxicity"
              Cliche comment...

Then why keep buying the game if you think they "spit in your face every year"? I only give companies so many chances before I completely stop buying their product. Period.

I’m an old guy but I think the fact there are so many transactions that take place after you buy the core game, it gives the consumer more reasons to complain. I buy the game and play an offline season and that’s about it. I’m always pretty satisfied. I can’t imagine having to account for the needs of the offline crowds where the gameplay experience is much more specific to each person. Not saying complaints aren’t justified but that’s a tough job to have.

Forget complains about servers or gameplay a second. I’ve seen complains about hairstyles not being updated in the middle of the season. I’ve seen complaints about shoes. I’ve complaints about exploits used in online games. I just think that’s a lot to account for.

Exactly...disrespect is disrespect. To a point, I understand that people want transparency, but when the company and its staff makes an attempt at transparency they're met with "F*ck what you talking about. How about....". Then people start talking like they KNOW what it's like to be a developer, game tester, marketer, etc.

I have had experience or jobs in those fields at some point in my life, and that crap is hard. Computer programming...it's easy to quality test a game/program within an established environment, but it will NEVER replace real life use of the product in the hands of MILLIONS of people and it will NEVER be able to introduce the human variable. Real talk...game developers can't discover all the bugs unless you don't mind waiting 3-5 years for a new game to come out and even then. You can't account for those people who live to "break" games. A good example I use is cyber security. Businesses pay companies MILLIONS to secure their infrastructure, and you still have hackers that find ways to get around it.

Customer service...entitlement makes it hard. For whatever reason, people have this stupid and irrational concept of "I buy product X, so I bought the right to an opinion/stake to a company's direction of said product, and I demand to be heard." No...you bought a product on your own free will, and you have the right to leave a review respectively, and the company can use the review/feedback to improve on their product. It's like when fans buy tickets to a NBA game, and they think they have the right to talk crazy to NBA players during the game.

Real talk...if you don't like the product, then stop buying it. NBA 2K has been a solid game for many years for me, and I tend to recognize that sh*t happens. Unless they make a very drastic change to the gameplay (granted, I'm not a fan of the visible shot contest percentage), I will continue to buy NBA 2K.

You would be right. Game developers of sports games have too many variables to account for within a one-year cycle. Before anyone says it, the NBA expects 2K Sports to produce a yearly NBA game, so a two-year cycle is OUT of the question. 2K Sports keeps pushing themselves to add more and more and more to the game (WNBA this year). Who knows...maybe it's time to increase the size of the development team, BUT...that would be assuming that they're still working with the same size staff that they had back in 2014.

Increasing the dev team has nothing to do with the time constraints.

There isn't a software in the world without bugs, windows, apple, Google, you name it.

People should definitely want a workable product when they buy it

But the unreasonable stuff is what I'm talking about.

Yelling obsceneties at Da Czar is gonna start a snowball of devs being unavailable to the public because it's better that they spend their limited time on the game than fooling with these people online

We already know it's coming. Developers don't have to directly deal with that.

In defense if these YouTube kids, they’ve been given influence and responsibility before knowing how the world works. They don’t know how businesses work, especially large ones that are made of various departments. They can only yell ‘fire them’ rather than offer meaningful and constructive criticism. They want eyeballs, not a conversation.

And we might have been the same if we got given that level of influence at their age.

Czar has done so much of the community it can’t be expressed in words. I could only imagine working so hard on a product (best offensive gameplay ever) and be harassed by ignorant cowards MY OWN social media. Like Books said the other day, Devs job isn’t to respond to us even on their area of the game let alone park and other modes. How many times have we been in a simhangout or gameplay stream and some dumb person starts talking about non relevant things. Imagine getting tons of those mentions per day along with obscenities and foolishness. No one needs that. The same tweets can be forwarded to @2ksupport not him. It’s all uncalled for.
