Re: NBA 2K20 Patch 1.03 Available - Patch Notes Here
When the game first came out I felt like a really good game vs the CPU could be had this year with minimal slider adjustments, but after all the tinkering, I now feel like there is a great playing game still hiding in there, but the slider work will be extensive to pull it out.Jordan Mychal Lemos

shot contests in the paint still seem random af to me.
Has anyone got to the bottom of this?Comment

Re: NBA 2K20 Patch 1.03 Available - Patch Notes Here
Has Mike said anything on Twitter about speed other than when he changed Park speed, then changed it back "so it should be like offline"?
BTW, was 2K19 fast for ya'll? Lol. I don't get the "back to 2K19" references, is that just the thing to say? The way everyone was glued to each other on the perimeter made it feel sluggish to me personally. Had to use speed edits to make it feel better.
I definitely agree on the CPU paint scoring, though that's an issue I've had from the beginning, and something some have mentioned from the jump. Too many conversions while your standing there in hands up...even if you've got the height advantage.
So when I played the one game online after the patch, I could clearly see a difference in speed. It felt like I was crossing the half-court line in 2 seconds. I couldn't read and react to the offense, because the ball handler was moving so quickly. It felt like the hole to attack when I pulled off a dribble move were closing so quickly, because the defenders were moving quickly. Also, the shot meter was moving very quickly too, so a majority of my shots were late or very late.
The game played very different and to quote Kevin Hart "Nooooooo! I wasn't ready!"
This was not a placebo effect. I was seriously thinking about breaking my controller at the end of that game, because I was that furious with how they changed the game.Comment

Also, I'm sure it has nothing to do with the update but the cpu offense is just bad. First six possessions of the game Tray Young dribbled the entire possession forcing his way into the paint for contested layups. I even had Kevin Heuter, Jabari Parker, and Evan Turner dribble entire possessions trying to get into the paint before shooting a contested shot right before a shot clock violation. Dribbling 20 seconds of the shot clock.
I've had the CPU run a play to post up Embiid on a guard and he just passes it off to Ben Simmons at the 3 point line as I bring the double instead of just posterise him.
Played the Warriors and Steph shot about 3 times while D'Angelo and Draymond were running the offence and I didn't do much to shut him down.
I've definitely noticed the CPU rotations also lead to double Centre lineups with zero spacing or no shooting at all, and their whole offence will fall apart.
Of course, they still make enough baskets on fast breaks because they get every damn loose ball lolComment

Nothing for MyGM. They put work in and yet completely killed off that mode.Comment

Gosh I hope you’re right. I don’t play online so that doesn’t matter to me. But I like the speed differences between guards and bigs at launch. It felt real.

Just the other day I've played the Warriors and Steph completely lit me up, he had scored over 30 and I was playing 6 minute quarters. On the other hand when I've played the Suns I had Devin Booker struggle against the defense of Jonathan Isaac and just miss some shots and he finished 1-10.Comment

Have you tried other examples? 6’10 Ben Simmons isn’t a “big” and regularly defends quick guards in real life.

I haven’t played a ton before or after the patch, but in play now (off-line) and scrimmages I can’t tell a huge difference. I still have bigs getting exposed, late to help, etc. I can’t tell if it changed shooting, I was having a hard time hitting shots earlier in just the freestyle mode with 0 defenders lol.
Overall this game still feels substantially better than 2k19, 100 times better. Maybe there are areas where the speed is up some, but I still feel a large variety among different players. As long as every player on the floor isn’t shifty as hell, massive speed boosts for defenders from behind, and tons of slowing down players with the ball this game will be fine.
Haven’t tested anything online, my career, or park or anything like that though.

Re: NBA 2K20 Patch 1.03 Available - Patch Notes Here
I don't like that defenders don't seem to have objective lateral quickness on defense. If a slow Center is on a guard on the perimeter then he moves as you would expect him too, and the guard can get by him relatively easily.
If that same Center plays up tight on a 3 or 4 who is much faster and quicker than he is, but has low handle ratings, then the 5 has access to lateral quickness animations that are several times faster than he can use against the guard, and thus can cut those players off practically at will.
I'm sure that there are slider settings that can fix this situation, but it's unfortunate that it isn't tuned correctly by default.Jordan Mychal Lemos
