Lol...how did that happen? I would have been upset if my 6'9" matchup did me like that from the center position.

Positioning is easier if you’re faster

Jordan Rec may be done for the rest of the year folks. When you're getting Pro Am teams on a Monday at 2:45p.m. you know it's over.

Why can't 2k just release another patch? Have they even addressed the lopsided teams?

lol i was just on a few hours ago and encountered a few teams.

i was running with a 79 overall all star 1 a friend knew and another friends who’s 88 overall and recently began playing.

we matchup with a team with an average rating of 89 like us but guess what 3 of them were elite 3’s lol. these losers come into the 92 and under que for easy prey.

we lost that one but beat another squad after that. mosts of these squads are nothing special even with their rep. you gotta play good teams to improve

Re: Matchmaking in Rec is awful.

No one is going to run their 92 and under in pro-am because they'll likely end up matched with a lot of maxed out 98-99s. At this point in the game most players who are in that superstar 3 elite 1-2 range have made 8 or more myplayers. They like trying out new ideas, and they are grinding just like everyone else but sick of mycareer. For every time you play with a decent group of randoms who pass the ball and play d, you are inevitably going to get 3 games with griefers, ball hogs and idiots. Don't you think someone whose been playing long enough to get to superstar 3 is going to play with people they know who aren't *******s or idiots if they can? Heck, last night me and one other player go into rec with our 82 ovrs that we are grinding. The PF on our team goes motionless for 30 seconds or more at a time, doesn't play defense, can't shoot, etc. We lose by like 8 in a game where the guys man outscores him 48 to 2.

To really 'fix rec' its less about lobsided matchups and more about 1) providing incentives to play pro-am over rec, and play pro-am at levels below maxed out 99s and 2) being far more punishing on teammate grades so people who go into rec and mess around get kicked (something they did in earlier versions and got rid of because people complained). Another example I played a rec game where someone set their controller down for 2 1/2 quarters. He literally ran out of bounds every possession for that long. He came back in the 4th and started playing. His teammate rating at the time was a B PLUS. He didn't play defense, didn't play offense, and ran out of bounds for 12 minutes of game time and it didn't affect his teammate grade at all!

stop giving these guys an excuse.

i’m in a 2k discord server where some guys literally ask who wants to play 92 and under rec?

these guys are elite 2’s and up and hand pick their lineup.

Who cares if these guys want easy wins? They paid the same amount of money as you guys, if that's how they want to play then so be it. You guys act like you get a medal for winning comp games. Not everyone wants to play comp and those who do are in the pro am leagues.

If the 2k community wasn't so trash at this game, you wouldn't have folks preying on them.

                    Look at Valorant.

                    Its a FREE game.
And it has skill based matchmaking, pitting you against people of your own skill level.

Don’t tell me a game like 2k who gets millions in revenue cant fix a simple matchmaking

I definitely agree with fixing matchmaking, but something definitely needs to be done about punishing bad play from a team-mate grade perspective. I actually watched a guy give up fairly early in the game and shoot 13! consecutive full court shots (just calling for the ball from the AI on the inbound). It took 13 horrible shots in a row for his grade to decrease from a C to an F. That is ridiculous... there needs to be a progressive penalty e.g. the first bad shot or turnover doesn't do much but each successive one impacts teammate grade more and more. Realistically if someone does 5+ terrible plays in a row they should be done unless they have like an A at the start of the sequence.

A lot of people have a love/hate relationship with Skill Based Matchmaking. It's great playing against competitive players but playing against sweaty's 24/7? Nahhh I'm good.

SBMM is currently in NBA 2k if you guys aren't aware but it's based on overall and not skill itself. If you go in with a squad with every player below 92 overall, it'll match you up with the worse scrubs on the game. If you're trying to grind a new player it's the wave. Your teammates will have the IQ of a toddler though so be careful.

I am so confused. Like, I’m starting to think some of you are just gluttons for punishment lol.

Ever since I stopped talking and let y’all have it, I watched this thread go from complaining about squads in the Rec, to absolutely going IN on the randoms that you all get paired with. And I couldn’t help but think: “This why some people would rather go in with people they know.”

Are you purposely acting like you missed the point or, you really believe this

The whole point of matchmaking complaints is to create a lobby where 10 randoms are matched to avoid squads

Did you not read anything in the thread?

If EVERYONE is a random then no one can really complain about bad teammates because we all realize it could happen to anyone

Funniest **** I’ve seen before was beating a squad of 4 99s and a 97 (they all had variations of the same gamer tag name *corny*) with a group of randoms I met two games prior. And when we won, their SG had the audacity to send me a message and say ‘F***ing lame, take your team to Pro Am!’ I couldn’t help but laugh.

This is a situation that probably happens once every couple hundred games and you post it as if it happens to you everyday

Good question and the answer is there aren’t many games where a lone wolf RUINS it

Somehow in 2K20 you can make 20 threes on 25 attempts and only get 25% as much rep as some guy who either caught or threw 20 alley oops while cherry picking all game long on fastbreaks that are being generated by blind chucking 90 foot outlet passes as soon as the ball touches the rebounder's hands and will consistently hit leaking teammates in stride with less than a 5% failure rate.

It's sad watching what this game turns into when it's being played solely to get rep percentage points. At least more than one offensive style should be viable instead of the gameplay revolving around throwing as many alley oops as possible.

For the last 3-4 years the game has revolves around 1-2 play styles and certain builds
